July 17, 201015 yr Robbie’s tipped for a £100m new deal http://i25.tinypic.com/6i4pb5.jpg ROBBIE WILLIAMS is at the centre of a multi-million pound record label bidding war after he confirmed he is rejoining TAKE THAT. The band will release an album together and are set to rake in £75million with a 54-date stadium tour next summer. But Robbie's record-breaking contract with EMI - signed for a reported £80million in 2002 - is up in October. And industry insiders say he could make even MORE on a new deal then. Multi-national record labels including Universal and Sony have begun negotiations with Robbie's management. An industry source said: "Signing Robbie Williams is the holy grail for labels at the moment. "He's already struck the biggest record deal in history, so whatever he is offered will have to compare favourably to that. "He could be the first British artist to ever land a £100million deal." Robbie, 36, will release an as-yet untitled album with GARY BARLOW, 39, MARK OWEN, 38, HOWARD DONALD, 42 and JASON ORANGE, 40. It is due to rack up the highest number of pre-orders in history. The band yesterday ruled out playing arenas on their tour - because they're not BIG enough. Venues like London's O2 and Birmingham's LG Arena have a 20,000 capacity - but Take That need something like Wembley Stadium, which can pack in 100,000, to accommodate all their fans. An expert said: "They'd have no trouble selling out five nights at Wembley. To play to an equivalent number they'd have to do 21 nights at the O2." Other venues on their comeback tour could include Cardiff's Millennium Stadium, Murrayfield in Edinburgh and the Stadium Of Light in Sunderland. Source..the SUN Edited July 17, 201015 yr by Cleo
July 17, 201015 yr Whether back for good or not, Robbie's return could be magic Are you wayward and unpredictable with a tendency to depression and the odd flash of genius? Or are you a solid and dependable hard worker, the decent one who eventually wins through? I put myself more on the Robbie side of the equation – although I'm always trying to call forth my inner Gary Barlow to balance things. So there's something for everyone in the Take That story – and now there's redemption too. The errant Williams has been welcomed back into the Take That fold and an archetypal drama has come full circle. Williams left the band 15 years ago due to a clash of egos with Gary Barlow. Barlow was the songwriting talent but Williams was the one that the term "X-factor" might have been coined for. Leaving Take That turned out to be a good move and it became clear he was a proper pop star – in some ways an old fashioned entertainer, the kind who has show business running through his veins. He bowled us over with "Angels", a song that became a kind of national anthem. After that we just called him "Robbie". As his star went up, Barlow's went down. Take That disbanded and Barlow's nadir came when ITV made a "where are they now" documentary centred around the band's first reunion in 2005, nearly 10 years after their split – a reunion that Williams didn't even attend. In a moment of excruciating awfulness, the former band members sat in a hotel room waiting to watch a video message from the busy Robbie in Los Angeles. As they were struggling with the disappointment of their post-Take That lives, the expressions on their faces had to be seen to be believed. Barlow's humiliation was complete. All seemed lost, but it turned out this was only the end of the second act. Barlow picked himself up, dusted himself down, got his light out from under the bushel and wrote a monster hit called "Shine". The Take That comeback was a runaway success and now it was Barlow who was unstoppable. When he welcomed Paul McCartney on to the stage at the end of his triumphant Children in Need concert last November, we saw in Barlow a man who had earned the respect of his peers and refound his dignity. But what of Act Four? As with politics, all pop careers end in failure, I suppose – or at least a well-cushioned retirement. This latest twist makes overwhelming financial sense for all concerned. Williams is currently in want of rehabilitation, although not – for once – the drying-out kind. He needs to refocus his talent and halt his Howard Hughes tendencies of late. (He has a UFO obsession.) Meanwhile, the four-man Take That have broken all records with the success of their Circus tour, but are in danger of hitting the inevitable "the only way is down" syndrome. What better way to refresh the brand, as they say, than bringing Williams back on board? So they're in it for the money, but it doesn't matter. It's still a great story. Barlow and Williams have written a duet called "Shame". Quite apart from the merits of the actual music, whatever they may be, who can fail to be a little bit interested in how events turn out? Since the days of the prodigal son, we've been gripped by stories of families becoming whole again – and there's something undeniably compelling about this week's photographs of Williams with Barlow and his former bandmates. "It feels like coming home," Williams said – and the part of us that wants to mend our own broken families (whether they are actually broken or not, to the Oedipal child they always seem so) can hardly help breathing a sigh of relief. Such is the power of the archetypal myth. "Life is beautifully strange sometimes," said band member Jason Orange. "I'm over the moon that Robbie's back with us, however long it lasts." July 20, 201014 yr http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/news/a24...ration-gig.html Kylie 'wants cancer-free celebration gig' Kylie Minogue has announced that she is planning a concert to celebrate five years of being cancer-free. The singer, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, said that the event would feature multiple artists and benefit cancer treatment and awareness charities. Elton John, Robbie Williams and The Scissor Sisters are expected to join the event, tentatively scheduled for February 2011, reports The Mirror. "Early next year it will be my five years all-clear and I would like to do something to mark that - something like a benefit concert," Minogue said. "We are going to try and arrange something with my professor in Paris." She added that she doesn't feel comfortable taking credit for the rise in cancer screenings which took place after her diagnosis. She said: "I know a lot of women went for screenings after my announcement. And a lot of people came up to me and said I saved them. Of course I didn't - but it made them go and get checked." Kylie recently flew home to Australia to meet her new nephew Ethan, the son of sister Dannii
July 22, 201014 yr Robbie Williams to star in karaoke video game Music Week 11:23 | Thursday July 22, 2010 EMI Music has teamed up with Nordic Games to launch a karaoke video game featuring Robbie Williams. We Sing Robbie Williams will feature 25 tracks from the artist and will be accompanied by all his original videos. The game, which will be for Wii, will be released alongside Williams’ greatest hits album in October, however its full track listing has yet to be announced. EMI Music SVP for brand partnerships, licensing and synchronisation Rafael McDonnell notes the company has been at the forefront of working with the gaming industry and recorded music. Meanwhile, Nordic Games sales director Nik Blower says the deal is a first in the gaming world. He adds, “After 20 years in the business, Robbie's fanbase covers practically every age group, and both genders – that represents a massive percentage of the population who will want to play the We Sing version of the game.”

July 24, 201014 yr ' TAKE THAT HOLLYWOOD ' THE BEATLES did it. So did the ROLLING STONES. And now TAKE THAT are planning to follow in the footsteps of British music gods by performing at the legendary Hollywood Bowl. The manband have never made it big across the Pond but they hope the return of ROBBIE WILLIAMS - who is better known Stateside than the rest of the lads - will finally see their lifelong dream of cracking America become a reality. I revealed last week the band were planning a string of UK gigs, including Glasto, and an extension to their 50-date tour. But they hope it will be a performance at the landmark Los Angeles music venue that will catapult them to worldwide superstardom. Last night a source close to the band revealed to me: "It has always been the boys' dream to perform at the Hollywood Bowl. They would feel like their career was complete." http://i32.tinypic.com/r9fjwj.jpg And Robbie certainly seems up for a fresh start. This week, my snapper caught the joker emerging from a river covered in towels after taking a dip during filming for Take That's new music video. http://i28.tinypic.com/28wfe43.jpg The source added: "Now that Robbie's back it's become much more of a possibility that Take That can do a show at the Bowl to launch one more bid to break America. All the biggest names have played there." I think an appearance at the Hollywood Bowl - which has also seen the likes of FRANK SINATRA, PINK FLOYD and ELTON JOHN perform - would be the perfect place for TT to cement their position in pop history. The 17,000-seater venue, set against the backdrop of the Hollywood hills and sign, is known for its distinctive set of arches. LA has also become a special place for the Robster, GARY BARLOW, HOWARD DONALD, MARK OWEN and JASON ORANGE. My band source explained: "It was in LA that the guys first put aside their differences and decided to work together again so this will take them full circle." And I can also assure Robbie fans the singer IS Back For Good and that there's NO limited year-long contract between him and Take That. "No dates have been discussed at all," said my source. "The lads are going to see how it goes and let fate take its course on this one." Source TRWS & NOTW

Their one and only top ten hit (legitimately) was BFG as a fivesome. Apart from that ... all of them a absolute no-marks. The only reason Rob could possibly be known by a few waiters and drive-jockeys is by way of Rob's other half ... Ayda. They'll bomb! Four or five of them ... they'll bomb! They'd be laughed off stage ... so I hope that Gary (business head on) will put a stop to this sh/te. I'm sorry ... but to quote Take That and the Beatles in one sentence is just nonsense. The Beatles had something new to offer ... something that would inspire for generations to come. Take That and Robbie????? Whether together or apart ... neither of them have anything new to offer. Entertaining ... YES. Short term satisfaction ... YES. Inspiration and ground-breaking .... NO! No! No! None of them. Edited July 24, 201014 yr by Norma_Snockers
July 24, 201014 yr I agree - a load of utter rubbish to say the least. To break the US would involve a huge amount of work and going back to basics and playing very small venues and do endless radio appeances all over the US - year would have to be put aside - why would any of them bother at their age? Utterly pointless considering. Definatly made up crap as it is in the NOTW. TT had BFG as a hit (althoguh I doubt it is still played on radio or remembered as they were never established) and Rob has sold over 1 million albums over there but that was all a long time ago. America moved past boybands a long long time ago so a bunch of men in their mid 30s-40s would not go down well at all. Totally made up to over hype this already ridiculously over-hyped reunion. But the media in the UK do think TT as being up there with the Beatles in terms of both success and quality. It's all part of the hype  And what is Rob like getting into the no doubt cold water. Typical  Edited July 24, 201014 yr by De Niro
July 25, 201014 yr Author Dunno. It only seats 17,000 which ain't exactly huge. There must be more than 17,000 ex-pat Brits living in California who'd be willing to go see TT. In fact, I'm sure there's more than 17,000 UK ex-soap stars who left for Hollywood to make their fortune and have never been heard of again. Maybe they'd like a wee night out as long as the tickets were cheap. But as for TT 'breaking America'? Total drivel.
July 25, 201014 yr Author Just had a thought. I think I know where the confusion has arisen. The Boys are playing here http://www.hollywoodbowl.co.uk/ ^_^
July 31, 201014 yr HE'S THE ONE THE £100million bidding war for ROBBIE WILLIAMS is hotting up - with the RCA label pulling out all the stops to sign him. Rob inked an £80million agreement with EMI in 2002, but with the release of his Greatest Hits collection later in the year he will have fulfilled all his obligations. And now the Sony stable, which is home to SHAKIRA and JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, want the solo star on board. They recently appointed CHRIS BRIGGS, one of his closest industry chums, to an executive role. The A&R veteran rescued Robbie's career from failure in its early days. A string of underperforming singles saw the singer on the brink of being dropped. But then Briggs put Rob in contact with songwriter GUY CHAMBERS and the pair came up with a string of hits which included the career-saving Angels. An industry source said: "RCA have played a blinder by getting Chris on board. "He's one of the most significant figures in Robbie's life and it's sure to influence his decision whether he signs with them." RCA have made another canny move - they've signed Oz singer SIA, a gesture that will please Robbie's management who also represent her. Also looking to get him on the books are Universal, who count TAKE THAT as clients. But as the deal-makers wave their contracts at him, Rob is yet to make a decision about the future of his solo career. Still, he faces a busy 18 months. He's back with his old Take That bandmates for their tour next summer and immediately after that Rob will start recording sessions for his next solo album which he hopes will be released by Christmas 2011. July 31, 201014 yr TAKE 5! 1) If Rob&TT sell huge in the UK it will have worldwide impact and they may enjoy a little success in Europe and why not in the US. Still it will be only because of the hype and it will wear off in a few weeks. If Robbie was not determined enough to break America I don't think the TT boyband ever will. 2) Comparing TT with The Beatles is just pathetic. I may like Robbie more than I've ever liked the old-fashioned Beatles but TT with or without Rob will never come close to the Beatles success (nor will any other band in the future). The music industry, press and showbiz desperately need the new Beatles so they will all pretend it is TT and will then take it back a year later. 3) TRWS & NOTW think the reunion will be permanent while The Sun insisits it is just for a year. At least they both have a clear opinion  4) I don't believe America will ever appreciate this kind of pop music, not unless it is hannah montana jonas bros or any other stupid disney act. :puke2: 5) I am starting to believe that expectations are ridiculously high and this by itself could break them appart (thank god) even faster than their egos.
