Posted July 4, 201015 yr Katy Perry stays at #1 in the singles chart with California Gurls After selling over 100k last week to top the charts, Katy Perry stays at the top with her UK second chart topping single California Gurls, alongside rapper Snoop Dogg. Katy is looking unlikely to make it 3 weeks though, as JLS relelase their new single this week and the proper version of We Speak No Americano is out also. BoB feat Hayley Williams - Airplanes climbs to #2 and Kylie Minogue - All The Lovers climbs to #3 All the mid-week sales flashes indicated that Australian superstar Kylie Minogue would get her 12th #2 hit in the UK this week after the physical being released, however she was beaten at the last minute by BoB. Airplanes rises another 10 places to land at #2, the track features vocals from Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams, who have never had a top 10 hit let alone a #2 one. Ms Minogue rises 3 places to #3 to make All The Lovers her second single to peak at #3 in the UK since her 1987 debut, compare this with 11 #2s (which are widely regarded as her best songs) and 7 #1s (including one as a duet). Enrique Iglesias feat Pitbull - I Like It enters at #4 Spanish pop latino singer Enrique Iglesias gets this week's highest new entry with new single I Like It, clearly many people do indeed like it. The son of Julio Iglesias, Enrique first rose to fame in 1999 with debut single Bailamos, his first 3 albums were sung in Spanish prior to this. He is probably best known for the 2002 mega #1 hit Hero, the 17th best selling single of the 2000s, this was followed up with the title track to his massive selling album Escape and several other hits, most recently Taking Back My Love which hit #12. I Like It is now Enriaue's 13th top 40 hit in the UK, Pitbull who also appears on this track was last seen alongside Alexandra Burke on All Night Long which also peaked at #4. Skepta - Rescus Me enters at #14 UK grime rapper Skepta gets his second and biggest solo hit to date this week as Rescue Me debuts at #14. Skepta is one of the many members of hip hop collective Roll Deep, whi scored a massive #1 single just a few months ago with Good Times. Rescue Me incidentally is also the title of different songs by Fontella Bass, Madonna, Buckcherry and The Alarm amongst other artists. Marco Calliari - We Speak No Americano enters at #26 Marco Calliari is a singer songwriter from Quebec who has previously recorded and released 2 albums to date, one containing a recording of We Speak No Americano. This track has been on heavy rotation on radio and TV over the past few months, in its original form by Yolanda Be Cool & D Cup. It is this cover version that makes its chart debut at #26 this week, in the absence of the better known original version due out in the UK next week. Justin Bieber feat Usher - Somebody To Love enters at #33 Canadian teen singing sensation Justin Bieber gets his 4th UK top 40 hit with Somebody to Love this week, alongside Usher. Justin's debut single One Time hit #11 here in the UK, to be followed by #3 smash hit Baby (featuring rapper Ludacris) and the #9 peaking duet with Sean Kingston entitled Eeenie Meenie. Somebody To Love was first released 4 weeks ago and failed to make the top 40, the track was first intended to be on Usher's latests album but was given to Justin instead. Hence a re-recorded version of the song featuring Usher is released and sees the song hit the UK top 40 at #33 as a result. Plan B - Prayin' enters at #36 UK rapper turned singer Plan B gets his 4th top 40 appearence with new single Prayin' entering at #36 this week, very likely to rise in the coming weeks. This follows up his #9 hits End Credits (alongside Chase & Status) and Stay Too Long, and of course #3 mega-hit She Said. The latter 2 singles and this new one come from his #1 album The Defamation Of Strickland Banks, one of the few chart topping albums of this year with genuine staying power. Eminem stays at #1 in the albums chart Mega selling rapper Eminem remains atop the album listings this week with his 6th chart topper Recovery, continuing to sell well. Scissor Sisters first 2 albums hit #1 with their first 2 albums but have to settle for #2 with Night Work, off the back of their 8th top 20 single Fire with Fire. Several albums are on the rise due to Glastonbury appearences including Mumford & Sons, Gorillaz, Muse, Florence & The Machine and Stevie Wonder. Other new releases not making much of an impact include those from K'naan, Zero 7, Kuila Shaker and The Wurzels. Personal opinion! I am a big fan of Katy Perry and love California Gurls, it just sounds perfect in the nice summery weather we're actually getting this year! I wouldn't call myself an Enrique fan, although I have liked Hero, Not In Love and The Ping Pong Song, this new one is pretty catchy as well. I really don't like the new Skepta song, mind you I'm not a fan of grime or rap in general, nor am I a fan of that We Speak No americano track (either version). Justin Bieber is still rubbish, he just sounds like a girl and has no appeal to me at all. However I do really love Plan B's album and Prayin' is one of the highlights from it, sounding a bit like Beggin' mixed with Stop Me which is a good thing as I like both songs. I'm not into rap but I do like Eminem and am glad to see him stay at #1 as I was a bit disappointed by Scissor Sisters new album to be honest.
July 5, 201015 yr Loudjamesbond - I don't like Rap much either - but, like you, I like Eminem. And THAT is why he's had 6 No.1 UK Albums etc. - he's managed to appeal to people who aren't keen on Rap, as well as to those who like it. (He's also been credited on 21 Top 10 Singles - so far. 7 of them at No.1). In its 3rd Week in the Top 10, 'All The Lovers' gives Kylie her 114th Top 10 Singles Week, in the UK. It brings her level with ABBA - who she will soon over-take, of course. However, she's need over 22 Years, & 33 Top 10 Hits, to get her 114 Weeks, & they managed it in less than 8 Years, & with 19 Top 10 Hits. She & ABBA are the 2 Acts from outside the UK & USA, with the most No.1 Hits, & Weeks in the Top 10, etc. here. However, her 7 No.1 Singles, & 16 Weeks at No.1, are still way behind ABBA's 9 No.1's, & 31 No.1 Weeks. This post has been edited by zeus555: Yesterday, 09:18 PM Edited July 5, 201015 yr by zeus555

Thanks for that extra info Zeus. Just goes to show how consistent both Eminem and Kylie really have been and continue to be, I'm not a huge Kylie fan either but really like a fair number of songs by her. That also shows just what a hugely popular act Abba were back in the day, and still are if Abba Gold's sales are anything to go by.
