Hey. Pixie Lott Turn It up has passed 550,000sales. Albums which have reached number 1 Barley reach 300,000 sales. Does anyone else agree that it is very impressive for an album that has only peaked at number 6 to reach 550,000 sales in the uk alone. She's never dropped out of the top 40.. and i think she will only have 3-5 weeks left in the top 40 as she's hanging around 27th and will proberly drop to around 30.

She's never dropped out of the top 40..

The album run is:

06-13-23-34-41-46-42-45-43-42-41-35-38-39-13-14-10-07-10-17-11-14-18-17-17-16-16-15-16-15-21-21-18-23-26-26-17-10-23-27

So it's been out of the Top 40 for 7 weeks.

Yes it is quite an impressive total for just a No.6 album. As you say, many No.1 albums don't get anywhere near that. Look at Christina.

There's no way it's the biggest selling non top 5 album ever...

I think it's Nirvana's "Nevermind" album which only peaked at #7. :o :o But it had a mammoth chart run!

i didin't say that. I just think with not a top 5 peak.. she has done really well. And most number 1 albums are lucky to sell nearly as much as her.. Look at her and Alexandra Burke quite close.

It probably is, it still regularly makes chart appearances today. Totally deserved too.

This is why it's important to keep an album selling consistently over time, the peak or first week sales can sometimes mean bugger all if it can't keep selling. They've pretty much launched her perfectly and it's an example to follow.

Bat out of Hell

Stone Roses (although this might have hit the Top 5 with one of the recent re-issues) - edit - it hit number 5 last year.

Bat Out Of Hell is almost certainly the most successful album to miss the top 5.

As for recent examples, Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More has done really well too, with a peak of #7:

EDIT: This has sold about 520k to date.

I wonder what he sales are for these consistent sellers

I suppose Pixie Lott's album sales seem impressive when you consider how bad the current UK album chart climate - albums barely sell anything like they did only three/four years ago. 550k is a decent sales figure but Pixie has also benefitted from four popular singles which have constantly sold her album over the last 12 months.

A reissue in the Autumn with new tracks added with the increasing album sales at Xmas means Pixie Lott's album could still potentially sell over 1 million copies. A big new single with some promotion on The X Factor could do wonders (well, she's one of the celebrity judges so why not?).

The chart run for The Holy Bible is 6-25-56-out, then to re-enter at #64 at a later date. Would it really be that high?

Same with Unknown Pleasures, one week in the top 75 at #71.

Plus the millions her record label spent developing her in the first place, so they probably haven't made any money out of her ... yet
