Love the fact that when Kylie first came out so many people said she would not last and her success was down to Neighbours but 20 years later still going strong-its brilliant.

I did not watch the X-factor when Shane was on but why is he now the forgotten man of pop and so hated.

For his first album he was a one man Westlife then for the follow up he was a poor imitation of Justin Timberlake.

I don't mind him but he pales in comparison to the talent of Leona, Alexandra and heck even JLS if you ask me.

Plus he's bound to be more hated here. It is BuzzJack after all :P

I'm not wrong, and it didn't. :P

And nah I'd have been completely fine with Leona beating her to #2 as she's alright. Those other two are just :arrr: :arrr: though.

Ok i'll take your word for it. :P

Leona deserved those 7 weeks at the top with 'Spirit' and 'Bleeding Love'. ^_^ Just wish Echo and Happy echoed their success. :(

I thought Shayne was very underrated tbh. I thought his voice was brilliant and he had a good image. I think Syco and Simon were the ones who f*cked him up. He had a lot of potential and it's not like his second album flopped so I have no idea why he has been "quietly dropped" or Syco are waiting for his current contract to end.

He is not hated... forgotten oh yes. Although he's one of ma fav acts of the last decade, it's absolutely Syco's fault - they have not promoted him enough. They have spent more money on that cheap lounge has-been singer - Alex - who mimes most of the time anyway :)

I adore 'Drunk' from that album <3 I'm with you on BL. Awful album. I just see it as a creative blip after a massive era though like with P!nk and 'Try This'.

Yep, that as well as Too Far and Cowboy Style, and I loved the three UK singles, particularly Did It Again and Some Kind Of Bliss  The latter I would put (and did when I counted it down a couple of months back) in my top 40 songs overall of the 1990's, along with What Do I Have To Do, when it comes to 90's Kylie.

I loved Light Years and then loved Fever even more but an overwhelming wash of disappointment came over me when I first heard Body Language, and I gave it another listen this week being in full loon mode and I still think it's terrible. Barely a melody to be found in the whole thing. Granted, she got it spot on with the singles as Slow, Red Blooded Woman, Chocolate and album track Loving Days are the only things I like about it, but none of those songs were accessible enough to sell it to the masses and I was actually quite shocked to hear that it had managed to get up to 400k :o

'Secret (Take You Home)' was by far the standout track, and the single that never was. :( I love Body Language but I can see how it would sound like an album of b-sides/rejects.

I always hated Shayne Ward, he's a useless article and he has a face like a bag of spanners.

Really? His looks are the only thing I like about him!

Not really - perhaps 80k +/- 5k.

She'd have needed at least a 40k start to have a chance of 100k for the week.

Thanks for the estimate. While I bow down to your amazing phD in sale-ology, its not impossible is it? I mean usually people sell 2.5-3.5x their first mid I think, and its technically only 1 day + pre orders for her though I'm sure they're hefty. Don't think she'll quite hit the 100k but it seems possible even if odds off

So you keep saying, but I keep going back to the track with your words in my head and I really can't see anything special about it :( Even Loving Days and Chocolate would be pretty sub par on a stronger album, like Aphrodite, but in the context of Body Language, they're amazing.

Listening back through all of her Parlophone albums/b-sides, these are the songs that were missed opportunities for singles imo;

> Your Disco Needs You (instead of Please Stay)

> Love Affair (double a-side with In Your Eyes? I don't know, but it was too good to be missed somehow)

> Made of Glass (either instead of Giving You Up or as a promoted double a with it)

> White Diamond (I really think the unreleased uptempo studio version should have been released as a proper non-album single around the time that the Showgirl tour came out)

Please Stay was great! Granted not as good as Your Disco Needs You but I don't think the latter would've worked as a single. It has its status as a gay anthem though regardless :P

I loved Please Stay too but it could have hardly been in place of Spinning Around or On A Night Like This, whereas Please Stay was by far the most disposable of the three. Maybe as as a doube a-side then, they were still popular in 2000, although I'm now struggling to think of any occasion where Kylie's ever released one - she's no Steps that's for sure  (rather ironic that one of their many double a's was Better The Devil You Know!). I just think it's criminal that it never saw the light of day as a proper single, although I see where you're coming from, radio probably wouldn't have touched it, but then they do generally seem to play any Kylie song so who knows :o

'Your Disco Needs You' may be considered a gay anthem but for what it was, it was a brilliant pop song. Much better than 'Please Stay' and I agree with GD that it was very much a disposable choice of single.

One lad where I work had his copy of Kylie's new album delivered to the office. It was comedy genius watching him trying to peel off the plastic covering. In the end his collague took the cd and ripped off the plastic covering in a matter of seconds.

Light years was fabtastic by kylie and had so many potential singles that most should have been picked over please stay. Does anyone know what light years first week sales were?

I hope we get a sales update again tomorrow to see how aphrodite is doing, id be totally gutted if she lost the number 1 later in the week but im hoping she is far enough ahead to prevent that happening.

I love Secret from the BL album! and I can't see Kylie losing out on the top spot now. She'd have to sell basically nothing. Loving the new Kylie album, it's up there with IP, Fever, LY and ROL, IMO

amazing sales for Kylie....

even the most optimistic Kylie fan ( me ) wouldn't have dreamed that 'Aphrodite' would sell this much on the first day.

I'm tempted to download Aphrodite to see what the fuss is about. The single is at best 6/10.
So pleased to see Lee Ryan Top 30 :w00t: Thought it wouldn't even be Top 40 today seeing as it has not even gone Top 30 on iTunes yet!

There are some tracks I deem better than 'All The Lovers' on there, if it helps.
