One thing I'll say about Britney is that she needs to pick it up with her next album if she wants to remain one of the top dogs. The Circus era was a disspointment after the first two singles when it comes to promo and appearances. Yes the tour was great but it was nothing in comparison to what made her more then just another pop star.

If she doesn't get that spark back, which was her cute genuine personality and amazing performances she will fade into the background with just her hardcore fan base to back her up. It has been excused because of her breakdown which seemed like could have been the death of her. I will always love her as an artist, but she can't ride the coat tails of her past fame forever.

I am the first one to understand she has a mental illness holding her back, but people will only wait for so long. The truth is the truth.

SOOOOOO here's to hoping.

Yeah, agreed with P!nk. She has a lot of credibility and she's not really disliked, and is accepted by people who like a wide range of genres because she has a really real and raw quality.

Ah huh. f*** all this Britney/Gaga/Susan Boyle's left nipple nonsense.

In my eyes P!nk is the best female artist ever B)

Perhaps we should hold a competition to see who comes out on top? :o

As a Britney fan she should take her time, due to her being a mother.

As a Britney fan that has nothing to do with it.

I'm not saying she should kill herself promoting, but the stuff that she does do should be up to par or atleast in the same ball field as her past performances. Circus era was an exception because it was her getting back into the game, blah blah, ETC.

No more excuses now.

KAY BAI.

Britneys best days are way behind her she is just a mess now.Vocally, her songs, her performances, her apperance and image are now so third rate. When was the last time she put on a good live performance. Her time now is like the seventies Elvis Vegas years where there is nohing left but a steep decline.I do feel for her bad men, bad parenting, she seems to have been uesd as a cash cow for a lot of people, having children possibly set off post natal depression but I just cannot see her coming back to form.

I think if we have to look at all round ability judging from the earlier list.I am surpised no one has mentioned Kelly Clarkson in terms of her voice and song writing abilities she is really good.

I like early Britney and whilst she had some good tracks since her 2007 comeback - it just seems lazy to me.

Like Tyler said - riding on the tails of her past fame. Not a lot of promotion, miming, all the media crap.

I think a long break is what she needs. I don't think we've seen the last of her anyway. Like somebody else mentioned earlier in the thread. Kylie's biggest era came 13 years after she first started out. Britney strikes me as the kind of artist that could easily pull that off also. She just needs to get a better song writing team because Womanizer was worse than a pre-school class's rhyme.

And I may start some kind of rate for female singers if I can be arsed.

There's really no argument on this.

It's Madonna by a landslide and I'm not really a big fan of her's but her impact on music (and pop culture) is huge. She's almost as iconic as Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley or Andy Warhol. She's been carving a pathway through pop for over 20 years and the likes of Britney, Beyonce and Kylie are still taking notes from all her best moves.

Those two are arguably pop princesses right now. Think of it this way if both Madge and either or both of Britney and Kylie released a single on the same day who's would garner most excitement and most likely be #1. It's Madge of course.

As for Gaga. The young pretender to the throne. Maybe time will see her usurp Madonna's position. And it is clear Madge is on a slight downward curve right now but she's come back from worse.

In 200 years time Madonna will be alongside Mozart and Kylie will be Salieri.

When was the last time she put on a good live performance.

On Circus tour, well I know that 99% of the tour is playback, but there is one song which she has sang live very well.

Britney is a princess of pop, none one can't beat Madonna, especially these days.

Among all these queens and princesses of pop, would it be possible to nominate my Sophie as a servant or cleaner?
All is not lost for your dear Sophie :P Afterall it did take Kylie 13 years, didn't it? :kink: And Sophie hasn't been dropped despite under-performing for most her era's :heehee:
Actually just yesterday word began to spread that Fascination have dropped Sophie. No confirmation yet but it seems likely.

lol poor sophie.. still think her read my lips album was brilliant

Sophie is z list, christina d list, gaga brit and kylie a list, madonna CREATED the list.

I like Britney's earlier stuff and she definately took pure pop up a notch I am not being a hater. Her decline has been sad to watch and maybe she should never have started so young. But miming during her tours now and doing half hearted dance routines just proves my point that her best days are behind her.

Sophie a cleaner or servant never she has earned the right to be lady in waiting.

Madonna then Britney and now LADY GAGA.

If anyone still Thinks Britney is use must be mad. A Queen of pop wouldnt Put out Rubbish Music such as 3

that parts quite irrelevant to the topic in question really. As music tastes all boil down to personal opinion. Everyone knows Madonna is the Queen of Pop, but even she's churned out $h!t such as 'Music', 'Hollywood', 'American Life'. So by your theory, Madonna wouldn't be QOP either. ;)

Well maybe her best days are behind (in the dance routine), but people still like her.

When u watch Onyx Hotel Tour you can see how she doing that with passion, but now after the mental breakdown she has lost a bit of that passion, because of that she is now good dancer.. She needs come back her self-confidence, and everything would be like before imo.

Agreed. And who the hell with a career spanning over 25 years could possibly have a 100% strike rate in terms of quality. Every act makes a slip up, and the longer they're around the more likely a major one is to happen. For Kylie, Madonna etc... to overcome these setbacks a la the American Life and Impossible Princess eras relative commercial failures (even if imo, both had some very strong songs hidden amongst them) is testament to their true star quality. The ability to bounce back - one dud album can end so many careers of lesser stars.
