Posted July 18, 201014 yr ... and equates it to child sex abuse! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-10658162 so is ordinating women catholic bishops a crime as grave as child sex abuse? or is this a loaded question? (but nontheless a pertainant question)
July 18, 201014 yr Author and just for a prime example of contradiction... "The Vatican says ordaining women is "grave" as is sex abuse, but denied it was equating the two." how tf does that work? it clearly IS equating the two...
July 18, 201014 yr You know another thing I don't like about the rules of the Catholic Church ... that one where the Pope says that Priests can't marry. I have no objection to that ... if two priests meet and fall in love ... I don't see why they can't marry each other. Norma Edited July 18, 201014 yr by Norma_Snockers

Norma Well the reason is because they're supposed to be married to the church Norma so taking a wife would be like committing a sort of adultery. :o They're supposed to have dedicated their whole life to the church and their faith. Wait, having re-read your post I think you mean two male gay priests marrying, as there are no female Catholic priests. Well as they're so anti-gay they're hardly going to allow that are they, even if priests were allowed to marry women!! Edited July 18, 201014 yr by Common Sense
July 18, 201014 yr Oh for heaven's sake Chris .... it was a joke! Dave Allen said it in his shows years and years ago! tpYa2TcTq64 Norma Edited July 18, 201014 yr by Norma_Snockers

I didn't know and you didn't put any jokey smiley after it. ;) Never heard that joke myself. Edited July 18, 201014 yr by Common Sense
July 18, 201014 yr This doesn't surprise me. We all know the Church is forever stuck in the past and unable to lock beyond the medieval age (for what a wonderful time that was for everyone). And then it scratches it's head and wonders why the world is becoming more agnostic.
July 18, 201014 yr So, does equating the ordination of women with child abuse show that the Vatican REALLY hates female ordination, or that they don't give a $h!t about child abuse? I'm still trying to figure it out myself.

No, actually. It's a common fallacy that that's why, but it's actually because of the various scandals in the 11th century whereby priests and bishops would have children and make their offices hereditary - something the various Popes of the day wished to stamp out, so they banned heritable office and marriage. It has no roots in scripture whatsoever.
July 18, 201014 yr i could have sworn that they moan abaout the sins of the flesh They say sex should only happen if you're married and it's only to create a child and not for mere pleasure. I'm a Catholic - lapsed one, very lapsed in fact! :naughty: Edited July 18, 201014 yr by Common Sense
July 18, 201014 yr Oh dear. Anyone who has a law background, what UK crimes has this current Pope commited?
July 18, 201014 yr Oh dear. Anyone who has a law background, what UK crimes has this current Pope commited? I find it slightly ironic he's likely committed more under French law (given the Catholicism in France) due to his collaboration by joining the Hitler Youth!
July 18, 201014 yr Oh dear. Anyone who has a law background, what UK crimes has this current Pope commited? I'd say none. The priests may have but can't see how he has.
