Taylor Swift will release her third studio album, "Speak Now" on Oct. 25, the country star announced Tuesday (July 20).

Swift shared the news with her fans on Ustream and said the album's first single, "Mine," will be released around mid-August.

"Ever since we put out 'Fearless' I've been writing this one," said Swift, who added that "Speak Now" will consist of about 14 songs.

"Through the past two years, I've been through a lot of things that I have been dying to write about and talk about. There were a lot of things that I wanted to say in the moment but couldn't, and this album is my opportunity to do that.

As for "Mine," Swift said the song is about "my tendency to run from love...Every really direct example of love that i've had in front of me has ended in goodbye and has ended in breakups and things like that. So I think I've developed this pattern of sort of running away when it comes time to fall in love. This song is sort of about finding the exception to that."

 Fearless was my favourite album of last year so it has a lot to live up to but this is really exciting news! :)

Now this has been announced, it's probably my second most anticipated album of the year (after Katy Perry). Loved Taylor and her last album

If we're getting the lead single in August, it should premier pretty soon

And I really like artists who write their own material. I know she at least co-wrote every song on "Fearless", but she's wrote every song on this album entirely on her own? :o

Fearless was a really good album, hope this is as good, if not better.
So excited for this! Very interesting to see she penned the whole album by herself! :o

Fan anticipation is already building for Taylor Swift's "Speak Now," after the pop-country superstar revealed on Ustream that the follow-up to her multiplatinum album "Fearless" will be out Oct. 25.

But anticipation of a different sort is building among retail and label executives: Can "Speak Now" top U.S. debut-week sales of 1 million units? And if Swift can't attain that now-elusive milestone, can anyone?

The last album to do so was Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter III," which sold slightly more than 1 million units in its first week ended June 15, 2008, and has sold 3.5 million units to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

In an informal survey of a dozen recording industry executives conducted by Billboard, Boyle, West and Wayne each drew votes as contenders for million-unit debut weeks. But most say they believe Swift has the best shot.

"It feels like if anybody can do it now, she could be the one," says Will Botwin, president/CEO of Red Light Management and ATO Records. "She has the sales base and heat from the last few albums. And with all the amazing things she has going on, she is as likely as anybody to reach a million units, especially with the efforts of Big Machine and Universal behind her."

Swift's self-titled debut album, which came out in the final week of October 2006, has sold 4.8 million units, while "Fearless" has sold 5.9 million after debuting with 592,000 units sold in its first week ended Nov. 16, 2008, according to SoundScan.

According to SoundScan, U.S. album sales are down another 12.1% so far this year from the corresponding period in 2009. Given the continued sales slide, another major-label sales executive who asks to remain unnamed says he doesn't believe anyone -- "not Jay-Z, not U2, not Eminem" -- will ever again reach 1 million units in their debut week.

Anyone know when we get to hear the first single?

I reckon she could have a 1million first-week debut for the album, she's VERY popular in the U.S. I also wouldn't rule out the first single debuting at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 - "Today Was A Fairytale" had a #2 debut and I'm not as keen on that one as some of her other songs.

Not sure if it's legit but...

Taylor Swift's upcoming single 'Mine' is an uptempo, boy/ girl song, sort of like 'Love Story' but a much more realistic look at a relationship. It shows Taylor’s growth and maturity over the 2 years since she released Fearless, but maintains Taylor’s ability to tell a story with an instantly memorable hook.

Still can't believe it didn't go to #1 with them huge sales.

It's airplay was zilch but still!..

We might not hear full thing until it's release and maybe just a preview.

It's out mid-August roughly.

'Love Story' was my favourite song of 2009

I hope 'Mine' will be equally as good :D

I reckon this album will open with 898,000 copies :kink: :P LOL JK

I love the cover, and I think it is the real one. These are some of the lyrics

Do you remember all the city lights on the water

You saw me start to believe for the first time

You made a rebel of a careless man’s careful daughter

You are the best thing that’s ever been mine

Do you remember…….

You put your arm around me for the first time

You made a rebel of a careless man’s careful daughter

You are the best thing that’s ever been mine

It sounds brilliant.

I think it will do one million in it's first week, the US LOVE her! I just wish her popularity and chart success from there was the same here. :(

I absolutely love 'Mine', its no change in direction, very similar to the majority of her last album but its great.
