Yeah, iirc it was higher than Bad Boys on their end of 09 list? How dare they miss out Gaga :( :(

They miss out GaGa because it's only British artists!

Your latter point shows how much you know of Popjustice...

It's not a BAD concept, but it's hardly an original/groundbreaking one. That line is literally the concept!

Does it? Popjustice appear to judge whether a song is good or not by the bpm. -_-

And well I guess we just have to disagree about 'Happy' but believe me it is really inspirational when you've lost a loved one.

Some great noms actually tbf... Marina, Diana, Sophie and Example are amazing :D

If I HAD to choose... my vote would be Sophie :)

The best pop songs don't come from the UK now

(if we look at pop in the narrow sense..music like GA, Sugababes etc)

I Am Not a Robot is such a weird choice from Marina. Hollywood or Oh No! are miles better if singles are considered.

The Mini Viva love is rather LOL. I mean I love them, and everything, one of the 10 remaining fans - but I certainly wouldn't have put I Wish up there.

I'd quite like Bad Boys or Left My Heart In Tokyo to win...

Sophie's song is dull.

Does Oh No! qualify or was it released it too late?

Either way, I Am Not A Robot is FAR superior so meh.

And sophie's song is excellent.

The original of Bittersweet isn't great, but the Freemasons mix is godly.

LOL. There is an element of tongue-in-cheek to the majority of Popjustice's posts you know...

Oh yes, it probably is released too late. I think the song must have been released as a single during the Mercury Music Prize album period

Their rules of eligibility go: "In order to be included in the shortlist for the 2010 Popjustice Twenty Quid Music Prize, singles were required to have been literally amazing."

Should've made its:

The Courteeners - You Overdid It Doll

Delphic - Doubt

Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed

But there's no room for everyone (except Mini Viva :P )

Only half of them are decent! Nerina or Example to win!
Muse "Uprising" $h!ts on all those songs.
Sophie or Alexandra for me.Bad Boys is as pop as you can get and was a really good choice for Alex's debut.Bittersweet should have done better chart wise strong comeback for Sophie.
Stop trying to make people think you're Peter Robinson, boy.

Nothing I do could change the masses' minds, child.

Is it just me or did anyone else like The Saturdays "Ego", though that could have done with a nomination,

ah well that will rank high in my 2010 chart! As will Bittersweet, Go Sophie! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

That really is a dreadful excuse of a list, even by Popjustice's usual standards. Heart In Tokyo is understandable but One Touch was bland and forgettable and I Wish was good but one of the best records of the past 12 months? Erm, no.

Bittersweet is average by Sophie's usual high standards and Once just needs to go away. There are plenty of better British pop records better than most of the included; New York, Hollywood, Shark In The Water, Ego, Remedy, Echo, the list goes on...

Bad Boys or I Am Not A Robot to win.

'Bittersweet' was so Sophie's best single since the Read My Lips era not called 'Catch You', and I thought 'One Touch' was the best of the three Mini Viva singles.
