July 29, 201014 yr Author You can make things look like whatever you want if you're a fan. If you hate an artist you can throw laughable things such as "Bionic never deserved to be a no. 1 because it didn't really sell" If you look things objectively and look at the charts and charts only, Rockferry was Duffy's first solo release to chart, Work It Out Beyoncé's first Featurings are more debatable. Didn't '03 Bonnie & Clyde chart before Crazy in Love too? So someone might think Crazy in Love was her third single. Oops, forgot about Heartbreaker! Will take Cheryl off the list.

Sandi + Diana are stuck on having only their debuts as no1s* as of yet. (Not holding much hope out for Sandi Thom though!) Edited October 24, 201311 yr by Leonardo
September 2, 201212 yr I'm pretty sure Just Dance by Lady Gaga debuted at #3 behind X Factor tracks and then climbed to #1 the week after. (Unless you mean debut tracks that got to #1?) Edited September 2, 201212 yr by cookie_monster

September 2, 201212 yr Author Have we forgotten Cheryl here? Nah, she was credited previously on Heartbreaker, which peaked at #4
September 2, 201212 yr I think Tulisa will get the honour when Female Boss is released Edited September 2, 201212 yr by tim94
September 3, 201212 yr Of course Work it out counts, What does it matter if it was a track from a soundtrack, if it had went to number one, and crazy in love hadn't you would count it, so you can't play that game. It seems Kylie was the first female to do this, and one of the few who have had more than one number one album and single....... and hopefuly more to come
September 3, 201212 yr Kylie Minogue managed this feat 3 times- I should be so lucky of the Kylie album both number 1's. Hand on your heart of Enjoy Yourself Album both number 1's. Cant get you out of my head of Fever album both number 1's. Its somewhat a shame All the Lovers didnt make number 1, its one of her best selling singles, and its accompaning album went number 1, i would hae liked all the lovers to have brought this total to four.
September 3, 201212 yr I think Tulisa will get the honour when Female Boss is released Wasnt Tulisa part of the Collection when teardrop was released which would technically be her first solo outing which would count her out of this. Edited September 3, 201212 yr by pippa
September 3, 201212 yr I don't think features should be included. It's factually incorrect to label a feature from an artist their debut single. I understand why you wouldn't include Beyonce because 'Work It Out', despite being a soundtrack, was Bey's first single as a lead artist but 'Heartbreaker' most certainly isn't Cheryl's debut - nor is 'Dilemma' Kelly's. UNLESS, 'Dilemma' is credited as "Nelly & Kelly Rowland" rather than "Nelly feat. Kelly Rowland" which would mean Kelly was a joint lead artist. I say knock Kelly off and put Cheryl back on. Features shouldn't count. It's like saying 'Teardrop' was Tulisa's debut record. Of course it is not.

March 30, 201411 yr I think Tulisa will get the honour when Female Boss is released This prediction was a bit far off it seems...
March 31, 201411 yr There's an argument here that Cheryl Kelly Beyonce shouldnt be on here at all as their debut material was as part of a band. By the time they went solo they had a massively inflated profile vs any normal debut artist so its hardly a level playing field. Hard feat to master though. Hasn't anyone from the 80s or earlier done this? Seems so unlikely there wouldn't be one or 2...
March 31, 201411 yr With Rita, isn't her first single technically not the DJ Fresh collab as opposed to RIP? Either way, still got to #1 so she's safe! :P

The earliest is Kylie, I checked all the way back to the fifties when I did it originally, I'm not sure why it wasn't done before then. With Rita, isn't her first single technically not the DJ Fresh collab as opposed to RIP? Either way, still got to #1 so she's safe! :P It was decided that it should be their first charted single with them as a lead artist, "Hot Right Now" is a DJ Fresh single with a Rita feature, whereas she can comfortably claim the feat with "RIP".
