December 29, 201014 yr Author You can say that, but it climbed last week depsite all the xmas music.. Here's another reason why it may have climbed.. "Due to an error the OCC have had to rerun the compilation of both the Singles and Albums charts. The OCC have published this announcement: DECEMBER 28th: Last night, Millward Brown discovered a bug in the weighting software used to compile the charts, which has affected a number of positions in the charts published on Sunday December 26. As a result, the OCC has decided to re-run all of this week’s Official Charts. In relation to the Top 40 Singles and Albums Charts, the errors are minimal. But if you wish to correct any charts which you publish online, or simply use the attached charts for reference purposes, please feel free. Millward Brown is conducting a thorough review of the processes and systems in light of this error. OCC and Millward Brown apologise for any inconvenience caused. It hasn't affected the upper reaches of either chart but a few singles lower down the chart have shuffled around a little bit." http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=123049 I'm presuming you mean you mean their 3 place climb on Sunday (26th Dec) this week as apposed to the "climb last week" (19th Dec) ? Because last week they dropped 10 places. And in regards to the Christmas music, there was 6 Christmas-related tunes in the Top 40 on Sunday 19th December (Higher #45) and a total of 3 on Sunday 26th December (Higher #42). So that may be the cause of it's climb. It's a coinsidence how we loose 3 Christmas songs and Higher gains 3 places. Edited December 29, 201014 yr by 2ndAdventure
December 30, 201014 yr Well Yeah, When they dropped 10places it could have been way worse, No promotion.. Then more xmas mustic entered over them and they showed strong stability. Their rising.. even though the drop of xmas music is helping them, but when you consider that on Friday Higher was #80 and #102 and for it to be #47 and #92 shows that it will keep on selling. Sure if they go in top 40 this week it will be their last week.. but that means more radio play for them. I think They have did well for Higher, and i think I have shown alot of negetivity on this thread for being a sats loon and underestimating higher and it's sales.

Just because it's selling now is not a specific enough indication that it will keep on selling in the long-run, and the same goes for any other song out there. It's chart run is slightly odd to say the least. And if it did make Top 40 this week that dosen't mean more radio play for them at all. One play on the Chart Show dosen't obviously mean it's gonna get them more radio play. They're still continuing to fall on the Airplay chart, down 6 this week to #32. There's no correlation between Airplay and Top 40. For example, Matt Cardle is #1 in the UK Top 40 but #4 on Airplay. No correlation.
December 30, 201014 yr Are there not any midweek updates for both 'Higher' and 'Headlines!'. On a better note; the single is #33 combined on iTunes; up nicely from #35-#34 from the previous days; hopefully this means a re-entry into the top 40.

Fingers crossed! I'm sure it'll go Top 40. There's loads of other multiple versions of songs in the Top 40 as well so combined all together it should be a bit higher. And no, no midweeks so far this week because Music Week are on Xmas holidays :(
December 30, 201014 yr Author #32 combined on iTunes now (#44 and #90)! And when you think about the multiple versions of other songs in the Top 40 too.. Katy Perry - Firework (#6 & #41) Take That - The Flood (#12 & #23) Rihanna - Only Girl (#13 & #26) Overal combined = #29 There are more multiple versions of other songs above Higher's #90 position BUT as someone pointed out before those multiple versions added together may have more popularity than Higher which means it could push Higher down rather than up. To play on the safe side, i've just combined tracks that are higher up in the iTunes chart from #43 to #1.
January 2, 201114 yr Author Sales look strong this week for the Singles chart. Nicole Scherzinger is at #28 with 19k. That's pretty big considering The Sats were selling that amount at #20 a few weeks ago.. Edit: A whopping 50% increase for Higher this week :D. Estimated sales of 16k! :D That would bring totals up to around 239k! :D Edited January 2, 201114 yr by 2ndAdventure
January 2, 201114 yr omg 50% Sales incrase Yassss! 2 weeks time they should be on 250k I hope they perform on dancing on ice :)

January 3, 201114 yr I don't think there's any chance of a third single being released guys. Their away to start rehersals for tour, the single would have to get a video made from it and radio and they would have less than a month to do that. I think it's tour and move on to 3rd album. Higher Currently #54, #114, #518. Take That # 12 & 43 Rihanna # 11 & 38 Katy Perry #7 & 50 Tinie Tempah #16 & 47 This puts them at 51, combined they may be around 40. Can't believe they look set to drop out the top 40 again. They should still be promoting this single and album if like i said there's no single 3 (Alan Carr, Graham Norton) Missing You is at #322, that will be getting a couple of hundred downloads aswell. It was released two months ago, it's still getting good sales and I doubt more promotion for no reason will do much for it.

I just think they should try and get on one of those to help album sales even perform missing you, i just feel this album could get to 200k.
January 3, 201114 yr They need a "An audience with" show, followed by a dramatic price cut for a few weeks. I would suggest sending out a new TV ad but I guess that's a bit pointless now.

I just think they should try and get on one of those to help album sales even perform missing you, i just feel this album could get to 200k. I never said they would promote another single? But there's no reason to go on shows so randomly as they most likely won't boost album sales. Most people who would have wanted the album would have got it by now. What they're doing is smart, ending the era, going on tour and then releasing the new album.

I agree! If they're going to perform Higher on TV again then it's gotta be soley on the purpose of selling the album. For some reason when they perform singles it dosen't really make the public jump to get their album.. And a great way of doing that is to get your own TV show.
January 4, 201114 yr Higher #50, #116 and #436 Looks Like it might get one more week top 40 !! Before dropping for Glee !
January 4, 201114 yr Higher #50, #116 and #436 Looks Like it might get one more week top 40 !! Before dropping for Glee ! Yes I think it will remain in the top 40; although it will most likely be in the lower end, at around 39/40 :)
