Posted July 29, 201014 yr In the #1 followed by flop topic a few people thought it would be intresting to know if it happened the other way round so I have started this topic to find out if it has (They don't have to be from the same album). A few I can think of are Coolio - I Remember made No73 in 1994 then Gangsta's Paradise No1 in 1995. Enrique Iglesias - Rhythm Divine No45 in 1999 then Hero No1 in 2002.
July 29, 201014 yr I'll repeat my example then. David Guetta 'Everytime We Touch' #68 'When Love Takes Over' #1 Both 2009
July 29, 201014 yr Eric Prydz feat. Steve Angello - Woz Not Woz no. 55 then followed by no. 1 hit Call On Me by Eric Prydz one month later. Also next Setve Angello's single "Show Me Love 2009" was hit reaching number 11 but it was 5 years later. And also Axwell's Watch the Sunrise reached only no. 70 and the next single I Found U peaked at number 6 Edited July 29, 201014 yr by SoManyOstriches
July 29, 201014 yr Usher 1995 'I Think Of You' #70 1998 'You Make Me Wanna...' #1 Edited July 29, 201014 yr by Bray Doolittle
July 29, 201014 yr Ellie goulding 'Under the sheets' #53 'Starry eyed' #4 It didnt reach no.1 but has gone on to sell over 300k
July 29, 201014 yr It's certainly not a flop, but it's interesting to note that Jason DeRulo's first single (Whatcha Say) peaked lower than both his 2nd & 3rd singles (In My Head & Ridin Solo)
July 29, 201014 yr I know Lily Allen had kind of "released" LDN before Smile (she then shooted a second video for the song when it got properly released), but I don't know if it charted. Rockferry was Duffy's first release as well, followed by Mercy.
July 29, 201014 yr didn't la roux release something before in for the kill? if so that's a flop followed by 2 big hits
July 29, 201014 yr La Roux, Ellie, Florence, Duffy etc. - those releases don't count. They were released with the purpose of NOT doing well in the charts...
July 29, 201014 yr Rachel Stevens - Funkydory #26/Some Girls #2 Atomic Kitten - Follow Me #20/Whole Again #1 The Corrs - What Can I Do (original) #53/Dreams #6 Jordin Sparks - Tattoo (original) #50/No Air #3
July 29, 201014 yr This should be changed to singles from the same album, or else it's an endless list. Madonna - Miles Away (#39), Celebration (#3) Alesha Dixon - Knockdown (#45), The Boy Does Nothing (#5)
July 29, 201014 yr They were released with the purpose of NOT doing well in the charts... Why would you release something, and not want it do well? I get that they might be hype singles or something, but why do they need to be made available to download if they aren't meant to do well?
July 29, 201014 yr Why would you release something, and not want it do well? I get that they might be hype singles or something, but why do they need to be made available to download if they aren't meant to do well? They were buzz singles. The purpose was to gain exposure for the unknown artist before they made their proper 1st single release.
