Rules:

1 Design one cover (Single or Album) per week, you have the option to change your cover as many times as you want as long it meets the closing deadline. And please edit your original cover.

 

2 The Cover Design should always be your own creation, and no one else's. All forms of cheating will result in removal from the Leaderboard.

 

3 New members are welcome to join anytime and any member of Buzzjack can vote not just the cover designers, in the voting thread once set up at the end of the week. You cannot vote for your own covers. And don't forget its a cover competition, you are voting for a cover not your favourite artist or for your favourite member.

 

4 A winner will be announced every four months and the Leaderboard will then be set back to zero.

 

5 The Cover Voting Thread will be posted after all covers are submitted, I will give an extension if needed at my own discretion. The voting thread will close on every Sunday at 8pm (UK time), the winning cover will be revealed after the votes have been counted.

 

6 Any votes submitted after 10pm will not be counted, same goes for PM votes.

 

7 I will send one and only one reminder each Saturday evening/Sunday Morning to Cover Designers that have not submitted votes during the voting period.

 

8 If you are not playing any more, please let me know if you wish your name to be removed from the Leaderboard.

 

9 Please let me know your change of Display Name, sometimes its hard to keep track of who's who.

Gone for a female cover this week but with a difference, the title of the single is called The Writer, found a pic of a writer instead of using Ellie Goulding, and gave it a newspaper style cover, I just linked the writer with a journalism theme, with fonts to match the era. I quite like it, I'm on a roll now.

brilliant - your best so far I reckon. Reminds me of the last UNKLE album cover, which was beautiful.

 

And well done Notso - a deserved win - stunning cover.

well i hope so but they could be in trouble this week but usually in weeks with other great covers they make the most outstanding ones.

Oh, dear. I made the same error of voting as the previous week. (Thanks, seanster!) Didn't have enough time to check and correct it. :(

 

Anyways, Robot's cover should compete for Top 3 for sure. :D

It seems originality don't pay anymore in this competition. Take a beautiful (and completely common) image on the www, put a basic font on it and YES, you're the best designer in town!

 

I'm sorry but I don't share this point view, that's the reason why I've decided to stop making covers in BJ forums... I also have many other things to work for and will not find time to compete, 2 good reasons I guess...

We can't all superimpose a face onto someone else's body, or cut out so well - so we have to find originality in other departments. What you do, you do it incredibly well - but that doesn't mean whatever people do, they don't do well!

I'm not sure whether or not to take this personally. If you are aiming this at me then... Well. I wouldn't call the Arcade Fire cover common and I certainly didn't just throw on some text. I always considered myself to be attempting different things. Maybe I'm wrong. I remember being one of the first people to win with no text though.

 

Obviously some people just take a picture of Lady GaGa and throw on her name but I presume that's how they perceive artwork or don't have the time (or the software). I wouldn't call that original but at least they're trying to the best of their ability (they don't usually win, however - thus making your point invalid). Not everyone has the skills you do. Your covers are usually brilliant (obviously, seeing how you win most weeks) but I feel they're rather samey (at times) and lack the originality of the top designers (Russt, Lewis etc). They seem to constantly change their style, use alternative methods and try different things. I can't imagine you doing something other than superimposing a face onto someone else's body. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that (they're mostly fantastic) but calling people unoriginal when you don't try new things yourself seems unfair. That's probably just my opinion. It's a shame you're going to stop on these terms because you're one of the best competitors.
