Neyo gets his third chart topper with Beautiful Monster

US pop / R&B singer Shaffer Chimere Smith gets his third UK chart topper, better known by his stage name of Neyo. Neyo first made his name of these shores when his debut single So Sick hit #1, this was followed by top 5 hits Sexy Love and Because Of You then #1 hit Closer in 2008 and #6 hit Miss Independent. Beautiful Monster is the first single to come from his forthcoming 4th album Libra Scale due for release later on this year. Next week's #1 is likely to be between the Saturdays, Tinchy Stryder and Flo Rida.

Flo Rida feat David Guetta - Club Can't Handle Me climbs to #2

Rising 3 places this week is the latest David Guetta production, Club Can't Handle Me by Flo Rida. Flo now claims his 3rd UK top 3 hit, following in the footsteps of debut hit Low and the Dead Or Alive sampling Right Round alongside Ke$ha. This track has gone back up to #1 on iTunes so may hit #1 next week, coincidentally the last track to rise 5-2 was We No Speak Americano by Yolanda Be Cool and it made #1 the following week.

Hoosiers - Choices enters at #11

The Hoosiers first made their name in 2007 when their first single Worried About Ray made #5, this was then followed by #4 hit Goodbye Mr A. Their debut album The trick To Life hit #1 towards the end of 2007, Worst Case Scenario proved to be just that by peaking at #76, however single #4 faired better as Cops & Robbers made #24. This week sees the return of the band as enough people chose to buy Choices to make it #11. The band's name is not to be comfused with the 1986 film of the same name about a US basketball team.

DJ Fresh - Gold Dust enters at #24

UK based drum & bass artist DJ Fresh and former member of Bad Company gets his very first solo top 40 hit this week as Gold Dust enters at #24. Previously known simply as Fresh, he has worked with artists ranging from Pet Shop Boys, DJ Shadow, Apollo 440 to Andy C and Grooverider, and also has released several singles from 1999 to now. Not exactly like Gold Dust but good enough to be his very first top 40 hit it seems!

Marina & The Diamonds - Oh No enters at #38

Oh no it's a third straight top 40 hit for Welsh singer songwriter Marina Diamandis, better known as Marina & The Diamonds. Marina has been hotly tipped for stardom this year, coming second in the BBC Sound of 2010 poll. At the tail end of last year, Marina released her first single Mowgli's Road which missed the top 100. However her first full release came in the form of Hollywood which hit #12, followed by #26 peaking I Am Not A Robot and now Oh No which enters at #38 this week. All 4 of these singles are taken from her top 5 album Family Jewels.

Arcade Fire - The Suburbs is the new #1 album

So we have a new #1 album to topple Eminem, Arcade Fire's third album The Suburbs crashes straight in at #1 to become the band's first #1 album after Neon Bible came within a whisker of #1 in 2007. Arcade Fire are the only new album release to do much this week, Chicane do enter at #35 with their new album Giants. As a result there are lots of long running albums going back up the listings including Michael Buble, Paolo Nutini, Paloma Faith and Rihanna. Newer albums from the likes of Jason Derulo, BoB and The XX are continuing to do well.

Personal opinion

I really like Neyo's new single Beautiful Monster and think it's one of the best he's ever done along with Closer, good to see something decent at #1 for a change. Flo Rida's Club Can't Handle Me has grown on me lots recently so good to see that climb to #2 this week. Whilst I prefer the Hoosiers' previous singles, I still think Choices is a very good comeback single and hope the new album is as good as the first. Not too keen on DJ Fresh with his Gold dust, doesn't really go anywhere for me. I really love Marina & The Diamonds album and think that Oh No deserves much better than a mere footnote at #38 ... ah well!

Delighted to see Arcade Fire at number one after they came so close with Neon Bible.

Totally agree, I do still prefer Neon Bible but really like The Suburbs too.

The xx's album is older than Rihanna and Paloma Faith's albums, it's just only gone top 20 recently
