Em yes, I have to agree the video is incredibly cheap and generic- it had potential but they ruined it

For the record, I dont mind the song- despite horrendous lyrics and an atrocious rap- it has a distinct Caribbean sound to it

its out on a competitive week though- Mcfly, Alesha Dixon, Linkin Park and The Script all release new music that week, so they should all go top 10- I cant see her ever getting another number 1 tbh

she needs to release a ballad as well

What a ridiculous thing to say.

Why couldn't she ever get another number one exactly?

If the material is strong enough, I can definitely see her getting many more #1s. 'All Night Long' could have easily got to number one if it wasn't already available via the album. She's also had three #1 singles in Ireland so there's nothing stopping her from getting another #1.

I do not consider any of those acts competition for Alex.Alesha has a song that has got mixed reviews and radio airplay is just taking off, The Script are good but I do not see any buzz regarding this comeback, Linkin Park I like but the song is not great, McFly have gone all JLS and the video is pants.I think she still has a very good chance of doing better than all of them that week.

Maybe I should rephrase it- from this era, unless she does something groundbreaking and different- I am sure SWY will not go to number 1, because it just isnt strong enough and wont have huge promotion

When/if she releases a new album that isnt just like her first- she could get another number 1, but I really cant see anything else from this era getting there

Cant really call the mcfly video "pants" after what we have just seen from alexandra  Its terrible!
McFly - 2

Script - 18

Im sure Linkin Park could go higher than that- I havent heard much from The Script but it will probably sell

also I can see McFly getting number 1

Do you want presents or not?

Seriously, Linkin Park don't seem to have Top 10 in them, I mean, New Divide, an international smash, only reaches #19 here. Top 10 at best, I can see it doing a 'Let You Go'.

I didnt get that at first but I then realised that was a pun on your name

I dont think it will go as high as say top 5- but it is their official comeback so it could do well

Yeah, hopefully top 10, but for me that would optimistic.

Good to see you posting again here, for some reason I enjoy your posts, even if you are quite neutral (everyone in the Chart Forum knows you, but you're not a sales guru etc.)

Anyway, I'm off for the night, so hopefully when I'm back on here, Chase & Status, INNA, One Night Only & The Count & Sinden will rise (what a release week!)

Thanks :)

I enjoy your posts too- your percentage updates are great and your quite knowledgable

I can only hope for Chase and Status

also I can see McFly getting number 1

It's more likely that hell will freeze over! They haven't got near #1 since physical singles died.

Physical singles haven't 'died'. Yes they only count for a very small percentage of the chart, but they are still avaliable.

And from what I remember, McFly actually got to #2 a couple of years ago, when downloads were a lot bigger than physicals. So there is a chance they could get near #1. ;)

Have you heard the song? its quite a different sound from them- plus its their comeback, it should be top 5 at the very least albeit being very front-loaded

To be honest it wouldn't surpirse me if Linkin Park didn't even crack the top 40. I know Linkin Park are one of the biggest bands around, but rock music in general hasn't had a good year singles wise, and I can't see LP being the exception. I do expect their album to sell very well though.

the Start Without You video is ok. i could have been better though

Album of course- I know rock hasnt been strong this year, but Linkin Park are very well known and their comeback is anticipated so I thought the song would be bigger- I can see it having a similar chart run to Fire With Fire

I really like Alexandra's and Alesha's songs. I find the song by The Script boring, but Galaxy are playing it at least once an hour it seems, so I think it'll do well, if it continues getting this much support.

I've not heard any of the others yet, which isn't a good omen for those that are supposed to be promoting the songs.

Ok well that's a different story then.

Yeah you're probably right that nothing else from this era will get to #1 unless 'The Silence' is performed on XF but that'd probably make the re-released album go to #1 if anything.

I think the 5/9 battle will end up like:

Alexandra - #2 (she has a pretty large fanbase, the song is getting a lot of radio play and she's got really good promotion).

McFly - #4 (will be incredibly front-loaded and peak at #2 in the opening mids but then slip to #4 in the end).

Alesha - #5 (or #6 - I think it will do a 'She Wolf' i.e come across as love/hate but gets an okay chart peak, only R1 are playing it but the music channels are playing it loads).

Don't know about LP or TS.
