ROBBIE SIGNS FOR X FACTOR

X FACTOR boss Simon Cowell has landed Take That in a major coup over rival show Strictly Come Dancing.

The band, with Robbie Williams back on board, will not only perform on the show but will also act as mentors.

But the stars are no strangers to X Factor. Newlywed Robbie, 36, went on the show last year.

He mentored acts such as Olly Murs, 26, and Joe McElderry, 19, and sang his comeback single Bodies – though the pop star will probably want to forget his live performance.

His stage entrance flopped when the sliding doors failed to open, he missed his cue to the start of the song and fans thought he looked “wide-eyed and sweaty’’.

Take That, featuring Gary Barlow, 39, Mark Owen, 38, Jason Orange, 40, and Howard Donald, 42, were special guests back in 2008.

Gary and Mark were mentors to the likes of Alexandra Burke, 21, and JLS and the group came on a live show and performed Greatest Day.

Now Cowell, 50, has persuaded the whole reunited band onto the forthcoming new series.

They are due to have a new single and album out when X Factor goes into its live shows in the latter part of the year. A show source said: “X Factor has landed the ultimate trophy by getting Take That.

“We know the BBC wanted them for Strictly. But we’ve beaten them to it.

“If the boys had gone for Strictly, they’d have been singing while a bunch of dancers pranced around them on the show.

“At least with X Factor they can use their musical expertise to help the acts.

Now that really made me laugh  it's the way I see it aswell, TT are okay-isch at times, ROBBIE is amazing and brilliant at times. I would never go to just a TT concert but if the concert will be like Robbie is performing and TT are the back vocals, I think I can bear to watch it and pay big dollars for a ticket.

I realise that's just wishful thinking though.

Most Take That fans want it the other way round. But that's just wishful thinking. I think Mr Ego will push his way to the front ... but I think the others are quite happy with that to happen. They've proved that they don't need him ... so this time its just for the fun of it (and of course the money).

Edit - Actually it was unfair to call him Mr Ego as he does seem to have reined this side of himself in ... I just think that when he's on stage ... he won't be able to help himself and will just 'show off' like he is used to doing. But ... the others must know this and are happy enough for it to happen. He isn't back because he needs them or because they need him ... they actually do WANT each other. Its all a bit too 'touchy-feely' for me if I'm honest and I'll wait till someone gets me the dvd as a pressie. Out of habit me and my team will try to get tickets (its a thrill) but I think we'll probably get rid of them on Ebay as soon as we can.

Just had to post this ... watched my Lee Mack DVD the other night ... the whole show was superb but this bit was worth a double-chuckle! I think you'll like it tool

I will be honest ... the 'I've found four brothers' bit really did make me reach for the vomit bag! However ... I'm looking at it from another angle now. Maybe its a double-bluff from Robbie and he's just lulling the other four into a false sense of security ... so when they're all on stage ... he can boot them all off and go 'Who's the daddy?'

I'm half-hoping he does!
