EDIT: I watched the votes and found out that the Saturdays are REALLY overranked. I won't bitchslap them or even put them down in my list (they will still be at #15), but if they are above Sugababes or Girls Aloud in final, the rank will be a laughing stock, at least for me.
Whilst I see why you may be annoyed, if The Sats finish higher than SB and/or Girls Aloud, however I personally think it's time for The Sats to be cut some slack. They've lasted far longer than people originally thought and there is still demand for them and stuff. They've had two and a half albums now and people are still treating them like they haven't proved their worth and are still newbies or whatever.

I have ranked them higher on my rank than Girls Aloud and Sugababes, because I personally feel, their first three albums have been very consistent and I like them more than my favourite GA & SB albums. If I were to rank each groups albums I would have SB 'Change' 1st, then Sats 'Headlines' 2nd & then either 'Wordshaker' by The Sats or 'Out Of Control' by GA 3rd/4th and then The Sats 'Chasing Lights' 5th. So in just 3 albums, The Sats have occupied my Top 5 albums of the three girl groups...

Atomic Kitten's 1st and 3rd albums rank above all of these for me :kink: I prefer all of the Saturdays albums to any Sugbabes album though personally...and I own all of them apart from One Touch now.

Oh ok. Btw, I was slagging of Sugababes 4.0 - not the first three.

I actually loved the second line-up. Their sound and image was so edgy and British. They were quality from 2000-2005. Dare I say that Amelle actually ruined the group. She's too commercial and "glam" to be in the Sugababes. The musical direction completely changed when she joined. AYN and 'Change' were great pop records but there wasn't as much of an edge to them as FLM, RR, 'Stronger', HITH, RD and CIAM. Then the C&S era was the first proper nail in the coffin. The sound seemed to be a copy of the Amy trend. Then Sweet 7 ruined the band and made them more of a brand. Can you really picture the original/2.0 Sugababes singing 'Get Sexy' or 'Wear My Kiss'? That's my problem with the "Sugababes". :)

TS don't have anything unique about them but the thing that they have that the Babes don't is a bit of chemistry. I can't believe there is not at least ONE original member in the Babes now and they still use the name. Do they think that they can sell on name alone?

Yep, Amelle indeed ruined the group. Although I don't consider it as Amelle's fault as she's definitely talented and unique by some means but Mutya's departure has done it all. They had a golden formula with the 2.0: music quality from Mutya, edge from Keisha and 'pop' from Heidi. With Mutya's departure the 'quality' factor has gone and they've become much more trend-following rather than trend-making as they were during 1.0/2.0 times. And that is the main problem about 3.0. The whole 'Sweet 7' era was recorded for Keisha's vocal so I can't blame 4.0 for the album and singles from it massively, I still consider it as another 'trend-following 3.0 album'. As for 4.0, the main problem it's not clearly the Sugababes. :kink: Only Heidi IMO can be called a proper Sugababe of all them but it's not enough.

And yes, maybe Sats have the thing called chemistry. But when I did my ranks, rates etc. I took (and always take) into account only the factors of music quality, involvement in the writing process, the singing abilities, uniqueness. I don't take into account the personality factor at all as I can't judge all of them by what I can see from outside.

Well, it's fair enough. :) You like the Sats material more so you put them higher. It will be sad for me if only overall result has Sats above SB/GA.

The Saturdays indeed have a 'newbie' problem. In the days when there were a lot more girl-bands they would be treated much more positively. I think it's due to the fact that we have had a Sugababes / Girls Aloud competition duopoly for the good amount of years. The quality of both of the groups used to be very, very high! Besides, both groups (SB/GA) are in the music industry for FAR more time then were their predecessors. Girls Aloud will eventually record their 6th album while Sugababes are about to start write their 8th. Of course with two veterans like these you will be considered as the newbie even after two albums (and a half) which all came out in the last two years.

Another problem about the credibility of the Saturdays is the fact that they don't have their own distinctive sound. Sugababes (pre-C&S eras) and Girls Aloud have it while anyone can record the Saturdays' stuff and not a lot of people (I talk about the casual buyers) will notice the change in quality. They release nice pop songs, what do you need more? - you can ask. Yes, their material is really good quality-wise. And they are honoured enough for doing it: all of their singles have (bar 'Missing You' but it'll have them in one or two weeks) very good 100k+ sales, 'Chasing Lights' has gone platinum IIRC and 'Headlines' is set for their first top-5 album. But if they want to step into the Sugababes/Girls Aloud league they need something special in their music which will tell the audience "Yes, this is the Saturdays, no, it's not another nice pop song by some girl-band, it's a song by the Saturdays". The other way is to keep making nice pop mainstream albums and they will gain credibility simply with their age. They will definitely not fade away like Girls Can't Catch so I'm looking how they and their material wii grow in the future. :)

Well, it's how I see it anyway.

Tbh GA, the 'Babes and The Saturdays all shouldn't be really high. There are far better groups out there than those three - even in terms of girl-groups. :smoke:

Destiny's Child are extremely underrated in terms of rankage. They have outstanding vocals individually, incredible harmonies, great choreography and dancing ability, great music, they (co-)write their own music, they have a unique style and probably a far better name yet they are criminally constantly ranked lower than the three aforementioned girl-groups.

So people can be annoyed that the Sats might rank higher than the 'Babes and GA but IT'S A CRIME if DC rank lower than JLS-femminage (note: age is pronounced arjjjjjjjj for French effect and I'm talking about the Sats). :kink:

It's scaring me that Girls cant catch will chart high !

2 singles and there high up !

Destiny's Child have always been overrated for me, personally. Bar a handful of songs, i've always thought they've been pretty much awful. Don't see the appeal whatsoever. They're all better as soloists...

And Rich, I agree about 'Ladies Night' being better than those (bar maybe 'Change' for me), but I didn't include AK as they don't get involve with the whole GA vs. SB vs. Sats debate that goes on here :heehee:
