She tweeted earlier this week saying it was on 5 million.

 

I highly doubt that as sales havn't passed 2 million in the US, only around 330k in Japan, and havn't passed 400k yet in the UK.

 

She over-exaggerates I think, no idea where she got the 5 million from...

Must be three million at most. No way she has sold close to Adele. Adele's sales stablized while Gaga's have dropped lower and lower.

Gaga has a chance at getting the #1 Best Selling Female album in Japan for the year 2011 as her album sales have such longevity it's unbelievable for a western artist. Western artists tend to never sell much but Gaga is obviously an exception.
