That's what Gibson gets for insulting the monsters :P

I am absolutely ALL OVER Born This Way (SONG) again now. It's amazing how many MOMENTS OF LIFE are contained within that one song, my current favourite being:

Subway kid rejoice the truth

*BAMBAMBAMBAM*

And generally I'm finding the album has taken on a new lease of life too. TOP 5:

01 Heavy Metal Lover

02 Born This Way

03 Marry The Night

04 Electric Chapel

05 Bloody Mary

That top three is my favourite three songs of her career to date... by far. 11/10. Everything before pales. The last two have worked their way into my affections big time recently. The church bells on Electric Chapel and the final adlibs ('meet me, meet MEEEE!!!!') are AMAZING.

Bad Romance paling into comparison with BTW/Marry The Night is RIDICULOUS.

^Exactly.

Bad Romance is a pure quality piece of pop art ^_^

It's a great song and before this album it was very possibly her peak... but it hasn't had the longevity I'd have expected it to have. I even play Telephone more.

The X Factor and Children In Need along with the iTunes promotion helped it big time :o
Sorry guys, when I said 'Alejandro Pt. II' I meant that it would be as boring as Alejandro...

I'm actually entirely with Jark in that I'm loving about 6 songs off this album so much more than any of her singles to date! The whole thing has massively clicked with me this last week.

01 Government Hooker

02 Americano

03 Bloody Mary

04 Scheisse

05 Electric Chapel

(06 Heavy Metal Lover)

Everything except Hair, You & I and the 3 bonus ones are more than listenable though

This. I like to forget 'Hair' and 'Yoü and I' even exist, the bonus tracks are just as awful though. I hope she isn't scared to keep pushing herself in the 'Heavy Metal Lover'/'Scheiße'/'Bloody Mary'/'Government Hooker' direction after the slightly disappointing performance of the album since June.

I'm beginning to think there might be a second wave of life in this album if Marry The Night can do the big business it deserves to.

Same. Though Fashion of His Love + Black Jesus have really grown on me. The Queen remains awful though.

'Hair' was my least favourite at first, but I grew to absolutely love it in the end.

'Highway Unicorn', 'Yoü And I' (and the bonuses) are the real clunkers of this album.

I don't get the hate for 'hair' at all! it's fantastic. the production is strong, and unlike a few other songs on the album the lyrics actually make sense and are relatable. not that I dislike those types of songs, just that they're vastly overrated.

Hair is just RIDICULOUS FUN. A great vocal. I can sort of see why some people think it's a mess but it doesn't bother me. I think the biggest dud on the main album is Government Hooker which never lives up to the intro but even that is a 7/10. And I guess Highway Unicorn is kind of disjointed and messy too although the chorus is lovely.

Her live acoustic version of 'Hair' is MUCH better than the album version, especially her iHeartRadio performance. That's what made me love the song, after it initially being my least favourite track on the album.

I just wish the album version started out like this, with her on the piano, slowly building up to the pop/dance finale.

Top 5 (Non-Single) Tracks:

01 Heavy Metal Lover

02 Scheiße

03 Americano

04 Highway Unicorn (Road to Love)

05 Bloody Mary/Hair

I can see why people think 'Highway Unicorn (Road to Love)' is a "clunker" and disjointed, but I think both the chorus and middle eight are going to be absolutely monstrous live. It's anthemic and has that awesome drum roll.

'Hair' is dreadful. It has the hideous lyrics that aren't quite as pandering as the title track but still just as embarrassing, the production is too much of a contrast between the old (dated twinkly piano and awful saxophone) and new. Such a mess. Pure cheese.

I can understand why people like it though - just not for me.

I had always disregarded Highway Unicorn as one of the bad tracks but the chorus really does save it, I'd still call it the worst of the listenable ones though.
