Do bear in mind though, that it's frontloaded for the same reason California Gurls was; because people have been waiting to buy the song for 2 months now, and they've all rushed to buy it within a few days of each other.

Dynamite, and many other front-loaded urban songs released in the UK have had different chart runs in other countries. I think the chart runs are more to do with the market in the UK, rather than the songs themselves.

You've just made the same point as I was trying to. :P

Oh, sorry.

I do think some songs are released very late though. If Dynamite was put on UK iTunes at the same time as US iTunes, it would've climbed up the charts slowly, peaked a couple of weeks ago, and Eminem and Rihanna would probably be number-one at the moment.

If all songs with the huge gaps between releases and starts of promotions were released just after the first radio play - we would see a completely different chart, so what? :P

If a lot of songs got #1 this year just because they were front-loaded then why can't Taio?

And front-loaded or not but still has a huge lead which is not simple to beat.

True. I suppose it would be quite ridiculous to ban people from doing this. Plus, we're getting climbers from all the album tracks nowadays anyway, although a lot of people here are suggesting that artists make future singles "album only", so that they can all do straight in at number-one when they're released too, although I'd find this very annoying, as I quite like cherry-picking.

- It's peak on iTunes was #13.

- The EP was #1 on the iTunes album chart for most of the week.

When was that? :o I thought she peaked outside the top 20 in the iTunes singles chart. 22 or 23...

It's not worth buing the single, pay the extra 99p - the two b-sides and two videos are great, I can't wait for her album!

It was approx 7.30am one morning this week - she just shot up.

I assumed 'Slow' had received a play on one of the breakfast shows.

Brandon Flowers song has really clicked with me the last couple of days. Hope it does well
Same ^_^

Plus it's so obvious that many people simply wouldn't wait, and just pirate the unavailable tracks.

Most cherrypickings off albums don't usually add up to much unless they become singles. Some artists have had various album tracks make it into the singles chart, but it doesn't happen all that often.

I do think it has signalled a nail into the coffin of albums being bought though. If you can cherry pick off an album, why would you buy a full album if you only like half the songs? You'll download the ones you like, and that could potentially also save money for the customer. Though damaging sales for the artist/record company

For anybody wanting a good deal on I-Tunes cards this weekend the Co-Op has a special promotion on.Go to their website download a voucher and get £15 card for £10 offer on until 30th August.

Yeah, that's true. The album would have to be good enough that cherry-picking all the songs you like is more expensive than buying the album. On the positive side, as the market changes, it could encourage people to either make their albums better, or make them cheaper.

I'm a big fan of most urban music, but I do find a lot of the albums have maybe 5 absolutely stunning tracks on, and then the rest are quite dire. Sort of like The E.N.D. The first, perhaps, 7 tracks are absolutely phenomenal (I mean, seriously amazing), but some of the songs at the end are quite terrible. There are some albums that I think are very good all the way through though, like Jason Derulo's album.

Olly Murs hasn't a snowball in hells chance - he couldn't even beat the awful Joe McElderry... :P

IMO KP is a shoe-in.

Olly Murs is at #4 on the Irish Itunes atm.

I'm pretty sure he will be UK top 3 at least. ^_^

so... Is teenage dream - single getting released tonight and then the album version tomorrow midnight?

I hope you do buy both! :P

I hope Katy gets her 3rd #1 next week.

I expect Katy will get to #1 next week, I don't see anything that has a chance of stopping it except 'Dynamite'.
If Katy does not get number 1 it will be Criminal! she deserves her 3rd Uk Number 1! She will no doubt perform Firework on the xfactor. Her album will hopefully go number one.. Does anyone else think The Saturdays will remain in the top 10 next week? I can see more people falling out before them tbh. Also if Miley Cyrus released her album in these past 2 weeks she would have peaked at number 4 ! haha.
Aside from Ms Perry, what else is being added at midnight?
