Seems to be going slow, but the word hasn't came out that it was due to be released today. Expect it to jump up MASSIVE tommorow with two versions more likely in the top 20!

Knowing a release date has nothing to do with a record's success.

 

It's the ability of the person to find it during an iTunes search, and the single version is drowned out by cover versions.

Slow start for Katy...

 

Olly was always going to be such an incredibly obvious debuting #1. Like The Wanted, it's been absolutely everywhere except Radio 1 - completely unavoidable. I always said that Katy would have to climb in a subsequent week if she wants that #1 with Teenage Dream, she's not getting it this week...he'll be the front loaded weekly #1, she'll probably be the #2/3 that hangs around for ages and outsells it. The pattern has been going on all year.

Although Beyonce's original is top 200...still, this single hasn't been a hit at all for her :o Some HUGE acts there, or at least they were 5-10 years ago, but now they can't even command a top 1000 hit? I suppose Kanye will inevitably pop up very soon, but not top 1000 yet is a bit strange. This Gabriella single is just such a non-event, I'm not surprised it's doing nothing at all :( There's so much better on the album, every other track besides Defender for example...

Not *completely* unavoidable - I've managed not to hear it even once...:)

 

As for KP - I can still see her being #1 this week. IMO OM's sales will be hyper-front-loaded. and wil collapse in the 2nd half of the week, allowing KP to overtake late.

This is all so weird. Obviously Olly entered high on pre-orders, it's going like the other X-Factor artists: JLS 'The Club is Alive', Diana Vickers 'Once' etc. I think he will end at 2-3 on Sunday even given that he's not at 5 already.

 

And I'm kinda surprised that the other releases aren't doing anything so far. I think it's the iTunes lag.

I don't expect these two to go top 1000 full stop tbh, seeing as HDL peaked at 134, although Defender is a better song imo, it will flop so hard... As for Second Go, I think Saviour only managed to peak in the lower half of the 300s on iTunes (I thought it'd go top 40, as it had a lot of play on music channels, whereas I've not seen/heard Second Go outside of my PC/iPod) so that'll also struggle
