I thought midnight Wednesday would be tomorrow night

Midnight means the beginning of a day, but I can UNDERSTAND the confusion so will put 11:59 in future :drama:

But 11:59 Wednesday is still the one that's 28 hours away - the one in four hours is 11:59 Tuesday

So we've won nobody's prepared their entries now, yeah? :D

What's your point? I've always said midnight Wednesday, which is in four hours

Not really. So far as I've seen quite a few entries are getting close to completion - and our entry isn't even completed yet.

We're all blaming you if you don't do it time. Just so you wouldn't be surprised!

No it isn't. To me (and countless others) ... midnight Wednesday means 'close of the day ... Wednesday being the day'.

Midnight Wednesday IS in four hours, no matter how mistakenly people might think it not to be. You don't start the New Year at 00:01, do you?

Yes

A new day does not begin till 12.00.01am so midnight on Wednesday is tomorrow

If you close it at 11.59 tonight or exactly 12.00.00 then it is still Tuesday

:/

A new day begins at 00:00:00. Big Ben bongs at 00:00:00. That is when everyone celebrates. 00:00:00 is when any conventional computer recognises a new day has begun!

IN ANY CASE, as I said to Bray (and as he accepted) - there is no way in hell you can be telling me a team can't make a song in three or so hours if it gets it act together.

Did all 4 mods take a combined decision or is this one of the rules you have made tonight without consultation ?

If you do a Family Fortunes style survey and ask 100 people in the street what Midnight Wednesday is then 99 of them would say tomorrow night at midnight

I shudder at these words, but I agree with Craig. I thought the deadline was tomorrow night also..
I have to admit, even I thought that. I'm a little panicked now.

It is unfair having one of the team captains as a dictator that can decide everything

This decision needs to be reconsidered with a fair democratic vote of the 4 captains IMHO

I thought that deadline will be tomorrow too but i now managed to understand Tyron's logic and think he's actually right here. :o Life surely must've started from some, let's name it, zero point. Each year after that: point 1 becomes the beginning of the next year, point 2 of the second year, etc.
I understand the logic, but it's obvious that most people would have assumed it was midnight tomorrow and therefore should have been cleared up sooner.

No one's denying that. Everyone's saying midnight, usually, (to the everyday non-pedant) is referred to as the END of a day, not the beginning of the next.

Wednesday midnight therefore immediately evokes thoughts of the END of Wednesday.

Well, there's been plenty of time innit? In all honesty, if deadline was tomorrow everybody wouldn't have done their entries until at least 4pm of the deadline day. It's never enough time for anything, and it's everywhere.
