002|11:02:90|Depeche Mode 'Enjoy The Silence'

I really wish I could erase Halo James from history. Well, not the man I guess as that would be a tad cruel but I really wish I could claim this to be my first ever #1 as it remains one of my favourite songs ever. I remember quite liking Personal Jesus from the year before but this was the first song by them or anyone that really grabbed me to the point of listening to it non-stop. Twenty years on and I still think it sounds remarkably current and it's influence on current indie music is clear to hear.

UK Chart peak: #6

Do I still listen to it? HELL YES.

I do love this song ! It's on one of the Singstar's I have. Used to be amazing at it.

005|08:04:90|Madonna 'Vogue'

Thought I'd end on a classic for this evening with what is possible Madge's defining moment. Obviously Like A Prayer is probably her classic single but I'd argue that Vogue is her at her most iconic. Another that I think has aged quite well, classic video + classic lyrics = iconic track. It's also the last thing before finding out the answer to the all important who was #1 when Aaron was born question that I can tell you've all been asking.

Do I still listen to it? Absofrigginlutely. It's amazing.

Strike a pose. One of her best 'earlier' singles <3

Haha, ooh, I was rather hoping this might have just about hung on for it. This is one of my favourite Madonna songs, and probably my favourite #1 of 1990. (Maria McKee is probably 2nd, heh)

Given how quiet it was hear last night that should be our team anthem.

Haha!

Although to be fair, it should be an anthem for everything in this life! I was out with my management team yesterday evening, we went for a beer and curry night. Would have been right up Craig's street if he was here to read it instead of wimping out on us!

006|06:05:90|Paul Abdul 'Opposites Attract'

Sorry Aaron. :( I don't think you will approve of this from the former American Idol thing judge. I used to love this, my then girlfriend and I used to sing it too eachother all the time - although little did we realise how opposite we actually were. The cartoon cat in the video, that's probably all it took to seduce an 11 year old into liking a song. I don't hate it even now as it reminds me of very good times.

Do I still listen to it? Not unless I'm feeling particularly nostalgic.

There is a slight possibility that when you've finished yours I might blatantly steal your idea.

I hope you won't think less of me for it

Not at all, I'd love to see your version of the thread. :o I didn't realise you kept such things though, I imagine you to have been far too cool and rawk to have kept personal charts!

007|27:05:90|Betty Boo 'Doin The Do'

Betty Boo, Betty Boo just doin' the do and you are through and there's nothing you can do. This song makes me grin from ear to ear every time I hear it, it's utterly ridiculous yet also utterly catchy - doesn't take itself at all seriously and created by someone with real individuality. Betty love all round please.

UK Chart peak: #7

Do I still listen to it? Indeedy, it was my guilty pleasure track in the music survey.

Oh no I'm quite geeky sometimes. Mind you I've only kind of done it since I joined CHC. Not sure what that says.I actually wish I'd started it around 1985 when I got really serious about music but it'd be full of really obscure weirdo stuff nobody would like. And it's more based on most played than favourite but usually they tie up.

Oh Heaven...

This girl just rocked (rocks) my world. I'm hoping Where Are You Baby? does equally well here. And her underrated second album

008|10:06:90|Roxette 'It Must Have Been Love'

I'm guessing this one is also a big favourite round Suedehead's gaff. :D Oh dear, I loved Roxette and am suitably ashamed now. Sadly, it's not even the only entry in this countdown for them. Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

Do I still listen to it? I must confess to having bought their best of on CD, the wonderfully cornily titled 'Don't Bore Us... Get To The Chorus!', so yes I guess I do. :o

009|24:06:90|The B52s 'Roam'

So it was The B52s who were the first act to top my chart twice, not sure whether that's good or bad really. I do however love this track today and think it really underperformed in the UK. It reminded me of the sort of thing that Voice Of The Beehive would have made (another fabulous band  ). I remember putting this on a CD for Anna Stern / Jude and it turned out she loved it too, such good taste that one. :D

UK Chart peak: #17

Do I still listen to it? Definitely. Actually, this is possibly the one I've most enjoyed re-listening to so far. :o
