I disagree. Promise This is pretty original and interesting for a 2010 pop song with quite a few different quirky elements to it, Only Girl (In The World) takes every sound already popular in 2010 and reuses it. I'd much prefer to see Cheryl at the top, and think it's the far better song personally.

100% agreed!

I think 'Promise This' is a bit tryhard, the lyrics make nearly no sense to start with and I don't think it suits her at all. It's just a bit of a silly song tbh. 'Only Girl' whilst not Rihanna's best by any means deserves #01 more because of past attempts if nothing else, and I'm pretty sure the album will be pretty epic as well.
I far prefer 'Promise This'. As Rich says, 'Only Girl' is similar to pretty much every big song of 2010, 'Promise This' is different and is by far the better song imo.

Personally, I'd rather Rihanna get #1 but I think Cheryl has the top spot in the bag, she has a bigger fanbase IMO so Rihanna has to settle for a gazillionth #2 :( unless Chezza's sales falter the second week and Rihanna's will be stable thats Rih's only chance, I wish they'd just move Rihanna's release date a week earlier :kink:

and btw I love 'Promise This' my favourite Cheryl song

i think all the controversy around Cheryl after tonights XF could have a negative efftect on Promise This and MLR
I really hope PT beats OG tbh. I find OG very average for Rihanna's standard, hopefully the rest of Loud shapes up better. As for PT, it's now my 2nd fave Chezza song after FFTL, so I hope it manages to beat RiRi

THIS THIS THIS!!!

'Promise This' has really grown on me, it certainly wasn't what I was expecting from Cheryl. I can't wait for a live performance of it.

Maybe, although for me personally in that case Only Girl is 'didn't try hard enough' I really do think Promise This suits her though, maybe it's the sort of thing we'd expect to hear more from The Saturdays or someone but I'm glad she didn't go for the same R&B-lite sound again, and hopefully her album will show this development too.

I'm still looking forward to Loud immensely though, probably moreso than Pretty Little Raindrops. Good Girl Gone Bad and Rated R (yes, really!) are two of my favourite albums of the last few years  There have been other albums where I've not been interested in the lead single where the rest has been incredible, like Xtina's Stripped, so I'm still very much looking forward to it. I just hope that Only Girl is the 'lets get a hit single to launch the album with' which is fair enough, but I want the rest of the album to be more interesting and individual like Rihanna's known for. Cheryl's not known for being individual musically really so I don't hold such a weight of expectation against her.

Digital Dog Remix, I've only just heard it but it's so lush ! Can't wait to hear the other remixes. ^_^

Promise This could miss the top three with all this anti-Cheryl and Cheryl bashing, its really upsetting me :(

Once the live shows have started by week two people will be saying - Gamu? who?

Cheryl should have no problem :)

i read that this nis the official single cover:

It's okay. The picture's not particularily amazing, and the font for 'Promise This' is boring... I was hoping she'd scrapped the 'Cheryl Cole' font for that on the promo artwork. :(
I'm hoping she's sticking with the original 'Cheryl Cole' font, i much prefer to the what's on the promo disk and the 'Through My Eyes' font.

She needs to seriously get new graphic designers for her artwork, you'd think being a high profile artist they'd dig a little deeper than what they've came up with.

Mind you, just about all of Girls Aloud's album covers have been dire so...

The lack of hype around this is pretty incredible... I mean, it just feels like an extension of the 3 Words album. If I didn't know better I'd have presumed this was the re-release single. There is no progression, it's hard to even differentiate the artwork from the last project. Big mistake. This was the perfect opportunity to release something with massive international potential. They could have gone really crazy with the video, the song, the artwork, her look etc. Sophie Muller doesn't do glossy first single videos for superstars and I don't see Cheryl breaking out of the UK anytime soon.

It's all a bit limp.
