Eventual addition for Kylie.
Eventual? Its just been released to radio this week (thus b-listed straight away on R2).I thought new tracks rarely get A-listed straight away on R1 nowadays, new pop even more rarely.

Surely Kylie must be one of the Airplay artists of the last decade(?) and unless ATL was a one off, radio still support her, the recent hit being one of the top 10 most played tracks of the year.If the GOMW appeals the airplay uptake is likely to be to such an extent that an earlier radio release could cause overplay and boredom before the release.

On the other other hand if its an (airplay) flop it won't make any difference when its released.

And if the second single underperforms, the further singles won't totally flop just because of the fanbase-buying on the release week.
As the download chart has become more prevalent to the point where single sales overall are very healthy (in contrast to the mid noughties slump) i think fanbase buying (especially ' 'set in their ways oldies' fans' ' of the (now relatively insignificant format) physical single which isn't even always available and never makes as much difference to the overall chart placing as you might suspect if you look at the actual stats breakdown) is pretty much dead.

In the past U2,Robbie,Boybands,Madonna,Kylie with a physical release (and decent album sales collected) could still expect a one week top 10 chart placing (at least top 20) with their 3rd or 4th singles. To achieve the same feat now you have to be unbelievably huge (and/new or "the in thing") eg Lady Gaga.

Westlife have had to release less and less post album singles to ensure the chance their top 10 run continues with their commercial decline - they didn't release a post album release single at all last time given the chart instability of even their brand new material.
