254. Get Outta My Way - Kylie Minogue

18 hours ago she was #427. She climbed 173 places since my first update. Go Kylie, you have 253 places more to climb. :kink:

So whar releases have we got at midnight? Alexandra should be a top 5 contender, I have a horrible feeling Linkin Park will stall at #11 like Chase & Status and The Hoosiers

Predictions for next week:

Alexandra Burke - Start Without You: 2

McFly - Party Girl: 4

Alesha Dixon - Drummer Boy: 8

& I've not heard The Script & Linkin Park songs.. so can't judge on that

I'm thinking that they just didn't know the song existed until they read the UK's Top 40 on Sunday, and were like "Oh no, we don't have the video for #33", and it'll take a few days for them to actually get the song now.

I really hope that's true, although it doesn't say a lot for their musical knowledge... I'm hoping that the release of the English version (supposedly on Sunday) will do a lot for the song, but maybe it's wishful thinking. Otherwise it'll just be proof that the UK has got hopelessly out of touch with music, when three of the biggest European hits of the year (Stromae, Shakira and Hurts) won't have even troubled the UK top 20. At least Shakira's new song is guaranteed UK #1... since Dizzee Rascal's on it  He's our Lil Wayne basically... make of that what you want.

Hope usher can climb in to the top 10, has to be quick because new entries may hinder its chances on sunday.

I think Usher is destined to be another "Top-15 long-running smash".

I'm totally undecided how Alesha will do but I think a lot of people underestimate her. It's very controversial song but... Well, we'll see.

I think it should get top 10 at least. Its nearly in the top 20 on Irish itunes and her songs always do much worse in Ireland (TBDN - 19)(BS - 18) so its looking like it will just do a bit worse than them and both were top 5 in the UK, so top 10 for 'Drummer Boy' should be easy.

It's a bit wishful thinking tbh. :P It was big but definitely not one of the biggest. Especially you didn't mentioned Yolanda B Cool & D Cup which was HUGE everywhere.

And I don't think UK is out of touch. The UK market is just different. The UK charts IMO are still the best European charts. And it would be boring if the same songs were at #1 pretty everywhere.

Where is Alesha though she needs to do some good promotion or signings this week.I want her to go Top 10 but now I am not so sure.Mcfly are bombing in Ireland not sure if they were ever popular there. The Script should do well as the song is a solid comback song.Sure Alex will do well but hope she has more promo lined up.
What is the 'weekend effect' that everybody keeps going on about?

Basically songs that are BIG hits and a few weeks/months old climb at the weekend because people hear them out in clubs/bars and stuff when they go out, that's all there is to it really.

Another massive European song which sort of flopped here is Satellite by Lena. Infact, I think it knocked Stromae off #1 on the European charts, but it didn't even make top 20 here. :(
Am I the only one who thinks Ushers song is just annoying and cheap

Yeah, I find Usher's song kind of boring to be honest. OMG was so much better.

Yeah I loved OMG.

He could of taken some more time in the studio to make a better track than DJGUFILA though, rather than rushing it.

No sadly that is what Usher's music has become he used to be one of the best pure RnB singers around but has climbed onto the autotune, electro pop bandwagon. It is a shame but I suppose he wants to remain current, he is now doing FloRida type music.

Don't like Storame or whatever it's called. Then again it took me a long time to warm to Americano.

I'm VERY disappointed with Linkin Park's new song but I want them to do well as they've never had a top 5 hit. Sadly, I doubt they'll make top 10.
