September 8, 201014 yr Did I say people couldn't voice their opinions on the band? Did I f***. Yes, obviously people are free to say what they think, but is a post like this realllly necessary?: 'UGH NOT THESE f***ERS THEY SUCK AND THEY ALWAYS HAVE TERRIBLE FANBASE MISOGYNISTIC DON'T GET ME STARTED' Brilliant input. Plus, the fact that Ben didn't post in here again until the song premiered and then started again with his posts about how $h!t the band are. Why say it more than once? Surely saying 'THIS BAND IS $h!t' or whatever doesn't need repeating? It's almost like he's TRYING to get a response from the people posting in the thread who obviously ARE the fans. As for your last sentence I'll ignore it as it's ridiculously OTT. does "Their last album was decent, if not as good as their previous two. I shall look forward to it...." really add anything to the forum? is it really nessacary? no offence to reabbitfurcoat who posted it, and not having a go for it being posted, but isn't that just as good input as ben gave? ben just listed his opinion on KOL, i dont see how it adds less that someone saying their last album was decent and they look forward to this. So what if he is trying to get a response from people who ARE the fans, it creates debate and makes this topic interesting and two sided rather than another generic bland buzzjack thread. When Ben posted again today he said: 'Their older material is just as terrible and misogynistic as Only By the Night though, some of it even worse. Fact remains that from the beginning they're music and shtick has all about been getting laid and not really about making good music.' which looks like a pretty fair opinion to me and not completly repeating what he first said, yet you just gave the response i replied to which was along the likes of 'blah blah blah i dont care', where as you could of just given a counter arguement and and made this thread more interesting. as for your first line, i think i pretty much answered that but your general tone seems to be people shouldnt give their negative opinions.
September 8, 201014 yr Just seems funny how Ben changed his opinion of KoL after listening to OBTN when they went supernova. Seems he quite liked them before that. Not that he doesn't have every right to change his opinion at any time he likes.

September 8, 201014 yr Author Just seems funny how Ben changed his opinion of KoL after listening to OBTN when they went supernova. Seems he quite liked them before that. Not that he doesn't have every right to change his opinion at any time he likes. Yes, this is what I found odd too. I was sure he'd liked KoL previously, so I looked back at the 'Only By the Night' thread... At first he was saying about how good an album it was. Then his opinion on it suddenly seemed to change and now he has this attitude on the band. Odd. I mean yes, obviously people's opinions on a band change, but by that much in such little time? September 8, 201014 yr Um, they kind of already did that when they recorded 'Sex On Fire'. Sex on Fire was just a great record. Like Mark already said, they were coming off the back of a big album that wasn't massive to begin with, but it grew and grew in terms of popularity. Then they'd just headlined Glasto too. (I reckon when Elbow come back there'll be a similar sort of hype). All that just led to the immense popularity of them in their next era. It happens.
September 9, 201014 yr breathing easy, thanks bb <3 p.s. i never denied that i used to like them y'all p.p.p.s. their new song isn't god awful but it is still questionable
September 9, 201014 yr There's nothing wrong with a bit of misogyny in lyrics. It still doesn't mean they are a band I like to listen to. Girls like them FFS....
September 9, 201014 yr i'm loving the new song and especially the video for it. and i actually quite like the album cover..
September 9, 201014 yr Am I missing something? It's not single material really....although I'm not great at picking singles. It's not as $h!t as it could have been. Still dont like the vocals.
September 10, 201014 yr Just heard Radioactive - whoever compared it to My Party (sorry, CBA to trek through the thread) is 100% right. Good thing. I also agree with the general consensus it's a good thing they didn't just do Sex On Fire pt. II. (well, pt. III as US was already pt. II)

September 11, 201014 yr 'Radioactive' is OKAY. Much better than that 'Sex on Fire' TRASH, but not near 'Use Somebody''s goodness. It'll probably grow on me though, I'll check out the album too probably.
September 11, 201014 yr I also agree with the general consensus it's a good thing they didn't just do Sex On Fire pt. II. (well, pt. III as US was already pt. II) No it was not, it was in a completely different league altogether. If anything 'Sex On Fire' was 'Dakota' part II.

I always thought SOF actually stood up to the mass overexposure it got rather better than US did, I can barely listen to the latter now.
