If you look on our official album chart you can see what kind of music is the most popular ^_^ Apocalyptica, Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden - we love them :lol: I would like to ask you a same question, so what kind of music is most popular in your home country? ^_^ Aah, I see! Well now that you say that, I have noticed the rock sound quite a lot from your home country. *thinks about* And I guess you can say the same about music from Norway, when for example black metal is one of our biggest music exports. Many norwegians truly has it in for metal, rock and hard rock. Although the most popular genre is probably pop, hip-hop, rap and RnB, much like the american commercial music culture. Hmm.. this was difficult, as we do tend to like country a lot too. The guitar (and the fiddle!) is very much represented in our music. As bands like Hellbillies, Kurt Nilsen, Vamp and Lene Marlin has proved. But there is also electronica, like Roÿksopp. I've noticed we're a people with a versatile taste/need in music, and it's a bit of a difficult question to answer actually.. so I hope I've responded somewehat correctly! ^_^ This reminds me of another question though. :unsure: Who is the most known artist/band from your country? :D

Well now that you say that, I have noticed the rock sound quite a lot from your home country. *thinks about* And I guess you can say the same about music from Norway, when for example black metal is one of our biggest music exports. Many norwegians truly has it in for metal, rock and hard rock. Although the most popular genre is probably pop, hip-hop, rap and RnB, much like the american commercial music culture. Hmm.. this was difficult, as we do tend to like country a lot too. The guitar (and the fiddle!) is very much represented in our music. As bands like Hellbillies, Kurt Nilsen, Vamp and Lene Marlin has proved. But there is also electronica, like Roÿksopp. I've noticed we're a people with a versatile taste/need in music, and it's a bit of a difficult question to answer actually.. so I hope I've responded somewehat correctly! ^_^ This reminds me of another question though. :unsure: Who is the most known artist/band from your country? :D I've noticed that you use the guitar and the fiddle very often (Alexander Rybak is a good example I think :lol: ). Ehm.. most known artist is for sure Karel Gott, he is 71 and he still wins the awards for the best singer of the year. I appreciate what he has done for the Czechoslovakian/Czech music scene, the most recent song is a duet with Bushido - Für Immer Jung, Karel is very popular abroad (Germany). Popular is also Helena Vondráčková, Lucie Bílá and Kabát - the most known, but we have a lot of artists that are popular here like Lucie Vondráčková, Lucie, Kryštof, Aneta Langerová, Ewa Farna (she's Czech-Polish), Tomáš Klus... We have a lot of artists/bands, if you want to know more about some artists just let me know ^_^ Of course I would like to know the same about Norwegian artists/bands :) And plus I'd like to discover some Norwegian rock/alternative artists/bands (singing only in Norwegian). Yeah, I thought of him too! :heehee: Very interesting that rock has such influence in your home country. Why do you think you guys like rock so much? Has something "happened", or has it just been a general music culture around that genre for a very long time? :unsure: Oh and I just youtubed Für Immer Jung. It is beautiful, actually! :wub: I have no idea what they are singing about, but it seems Karel Gott ads some form of comfortable maturity to the song. The younger passionate rapper and the wise, older man singing about life or love. My experience of it only though, but I really liked it and now I'm going to listen to it even more methinks! ^_^ But the chorus reminds me of forever young a bit though *thinks about* Anyway, those other artist you mentioned. Do you think you can recommend the best songs from some of them, so that I could get a general feel of what your biggest artists (or most known artists) have done in music? :cheer: And yes, I have actually already started on a list containing names/titles of norwegian rock/alternative rock songs that you should check out! ^_^ I'll let you know in a PM when there are a few songs I'd introduce to you! :D
