As long as it's at least 8 by the time the new entries are released (and I'm sure it will be, Emma will plummet and it'll get back ahead of Shontelle) I can't see it dropping out...

I guess only time will tell but I just don't see Swedish House Mafia feat. Tinie Tempah or The Ting Tings going top 10 with their new singles.

I'm almost 100% sure SHM and Tinie will go top 10. The song is so incredibly popular.

Stan is a classic... Love The Way You Lie is just a passing interest. I don't see it becoming a classic or remembered anywhere near as much as Stan is 10 years from now, so it's whatever if it overtakes in sales really. It'd suck, sure, but loads of great artists have something completely crap as their biggest seller.

Love The Way You Lie can thank its huge success on Rihanna really - a less recognisable female star and we'd be looking at a much more modest figure.

I can't see LTWYL *not* being an all time classic. Stands a chance of becoming his new 'signature' song I think.

Love the Way You Lie will probably be a classic too. There's just no way it'll be forgotten in 10 years.

It won't be played on the radio in 5 years though, but that's for different reasons. Stan barely every gets played now either, other than Radio 1 occasionally.

I don't think so. It's a boring turd, really. Nothing interesting about it, not particularly original or fresh. Eminem has done far more interesting things than this. Maybe saying it'll be forgotten is stretching it a bit too far (and maybe I'm slightly biased because I HATE the song, as someone who likes Eminem) but no way will it be better remembered than Stan and Lose Yourself - those are definitely his signature tunes and always will be IMO.

And re:Eric_Blob, I don't mean classic in getting played on radio all the time. More "classic" in that Stan is always featured in "best of the 00s list", "best rap songs" lists. That kind of thing.

Nothing interesting about it, not particularly original or fresh.

Can't argue with this, it's essentially a carbon copy of Airplanes that's only become more successful because it boasts 2 much bigger names.

But I do think it'll at least get CLOSE to as well remembered as LY and Stan if not even more so... obviously it won't make LY and Stan get totally forgotten though :P

:D I guess only time will tell. We can continue this discussion in 10 years time and see who was right.

Maybe. To be honest, I reckon if you polled the population in 5 years time on their favourite hip hop songs, both would do quite well. I think Stan would perform better though.

However, I think a lot of young kids won't remember when Stan was really popular, so they'll probably like Love the Way You Lie more, even though those that have been converted to Eminem fans will have obviously gone back and listened to his previous albums.

I understand why you find it annoying. There's much better songs that he's done that nobody cares about, which I think can be annoying if you're a fan of his, but this does happen with many artists, in all fairness.

I also agree that it sounds almost identical to Airplanes. Both are fantastic, in my opinion, though. I'd love it if they did a full-on mash-up of the tracks.

I think Lose Yourself and Stan will always be Eminem's two signature songs, LTWYL could certainly be remembered in 5-10 years time, but as superbossanova said, probably wont have the same true impact that those two did- they remain two of the best rap songs of all time imo, as Stan was just so different, and theres nothing truly brilliant about this song apart from an interesting concept and obviously the names involved I guess time will tell if this can become a classic, look on the itunes top 1000 in a years time and if its still in the top 100 or just outside, then its certainly on its way

oh and I wouldnt always count what you hear on the radio as a classic- some of the greatest songs of the last decade dont usually get played due to them not being seen as 'appropriate' for the target audience of Heart, Capital etc.

That was my mistake.

Watching TV while I was supposed to be editing my post but clicked on wrong button - and I dropped something on my keyboard when it asks you to confirm delete (ok is the default).

Sorry about that

Dont worry britster, wasnt a big post anyway so easily re-writable

Alexandra is on a verge of falling to #6! :o She stayed at #1 for two week only to follow the usual #1 pattern then...
