I am still seething at the decision to get rid of TOTP. Everyone keeps saying that I can watch the music on MTV, VH1, etc. However I have no interest in watching the videos - I want live studio performances. The only showcase we have now is Jools Holland for this kind of stuff, and CD:UK when it returns later this year on Channel 5.

Give it a couple of months and record companies will realise how much they miss TOTP - mark my words.....

The last ever TOTP is actually July 30th. This was announced by the BBC.

actually im gonna watch this just to see jimmy saville presenting (if the rumours are true)

however when it comes to totp going so what, there are other shows like that. its not like if Top Gear was to go, as that show cant be replaced by any other car show!!! its not like fifth gear!!!

If Top Gear ever got cancelled I would have no reason to live.

Yeah, artists are going to have no form of promotion. Who on earth is going to watch CD:UK on Channel 5 anyway?

I cannot understand why they have got rid of it, when they could have kept it as a minority interest show on BBC2 on Sundays.

Especially now that the charts are getting more exciting again thanks to records climbing the chart again due to downloads. While lets face it is less painful then listening to the two imbeciles who present Radio1's Sunday Chart countdown show.

Jimmy Saville To Present Final Top Of The Pops

And for some reason Pat Sharpe!!...

By: Daniel Melia on 7/18/2006

Top of the Pops producers have announced that Sir Jimmy Saville will return to co-host the final episode of the programme.

He will be joined by Pat Sharp, Tony Blackburn and Mike Read for the show that will be aired on July 30.

According to the BBC when asked to present the final show Saville replied: "I did the first one, and I'll do the last".

He told BBC news: "They're not even entirely sure what the format will be yet. It's all up in the air."

According to rumours the final show will be an extended hour long edition though the line up is yet to be finalised – get Art Brut on there!!

It be sad to see you it go, ever since they moved it to BBC2, I haven't watched it. TOTP is a national institition to see it go just like that. I grew up listening to it, when I was young, and I used to love the top 40 rundown.

But it has run its course, RIP TOTP
