Along with Fatboy Slim, The Chemical Brothers and The Crystal Method, as well as other acts, members of the Prodigy have been credited as pioneers of the big beat genre which achieved mainstream popularity in the 1990s and 2000s. They have sold over 25 million records worldwide. The group's brand of big beat music makes use of various styles ranging from rave, hardcore techno, industrial and breakbeat in the early 1990s to electronic rock with punk vocal elements in later times. The current band members include Liam Howlett (composer/keyboards), Keith Flint (dancer/vocalist) and Maxim (MC/vocalist). Leeroy Thornhill (dancer/very occasional live keyboards) was a member of the band from 1990 to 2000, as was a female dancer/vocalist called Sharky who left the band during their early period. The Prodigy first emerged on the underground rave scene in the early 1990s, and have since then achieved immense popularity and worldwide renown. Some of their most popular songs include "Charly", "Out of Space", "No Good (Start the Dance)", "Voodoo People", "Poison", "Firestarter", "Breathe", "Smack My Bitch Up", "Omen", and "Warrior's Dance." The name displayed on album covers changed from "The Prodigy" to "Prodigy" between Music for the Jilted Generation and The Fat of the Land in 1997 and back again with the release of Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned in 2004. However, Howlett has stated that the title has always been "The Prodigy." The change was made only to fit within the displayed logo, according to Howlett.[

October 11, 201014 yr I accept Atomic Kitten had a good era- I even liked some of their songs (Tide Is High and Whole Again I loved :kink: ) but their totally irrelevant now, and above the Beatles?! Maroon 5 I do like- they have done some great songs like 'This Love' and 'She Will Be Loved' and I really liked their new one- I feel that they've peaked now though The Prodigy are easily the best dance act ever- and not just in sales- they havent just stuck to the same formula, and had different sounds each time, plus have made some dance classics like Firestarter and Breathe- the fact they had hits last year that sold well shows they are still relevant- a well-deserved finish, although they should have been top 20 Really like Evanescence too- whats happened to them? :snif: Edited October 11, 201014 yr by chart wizard
October 11, 201014 yr Author 19 - Steps (WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO) Total Points - 190Points Favourite Song - ? http://i528.photobucket.com/albums/dd329/sutrisno2629/WESTERN%20BAND/steps-band-singing-5200060.jpg Steps were a British pop group that achieved a series of charted singles between 1997 and 2001. Their name was based around a simple marketing gimmick: each of their music videos was choreographed, and the dance steps were included with most of their single releases. Steps formed on 7 May 1997 and disbanded on 26 December 2001. In total Steps have sold more than 15 million records, and achieved 14 consecutive Top 5 singles - a feat only surpassed by Boyzone (with 17), Oasis (with 18) and The Beatles, Girls Aloud and Westlife (who had 20). Their debut single was "5,6,7,8" which achieved minor success compared with the success of their other singles. It peaked at #14 on the UK Singles Chart. Their final single released as a group was a double A-side of Words Are Not Enough and I Know Him So Well. This achieved a peak of #5 on the UK Singles Chart. Their cover of the Bee Gees record "Tragedy" is considered to be Steps most well known song to date. Released as a double A-side single along with Heartbeat it reached #1 on the UK Singles Chart. The majority of the songs featured prominent female lead vocals, which were generally performed by Claire Richards.
October 11, 201014 yr Maroon 5 are brilliant! And I did like Steps when they around, but in my defence I was like 7 or something
October 11, 201014 yr Oh god it's Steps. I dunno why you're all complaining about Glee and Atomic Kitten being so high when that pile of lump$h!t has placed so highly. Their version of Tragedy as a guilty pleasure is as far as I can bring myself to go as coming close to liking one of their dismal attempts at a record. Rather embarassing to see The Beatles finish so low down as 25th, but I suppose given that most people were voting on the basis of current artists instead of the Greatest Group of all time sort of comes close to an explination. I didnt vote for The Beatles so clearly I'm as much to blame for this. They really should have placed top 10 though, or at least higher than bloody Steps.
October 12, 201014 yr STEPS finest song is 'Say You'll Be Mine' for me  soooo cheesy and a massive guilty pleasure for me. But I also do love, like LOVE, 'The Way You Make Me Feel'! Atomic Kitten are one of my favourite groups. They got better with each album and some of their album tracks were a lot stronger than some of the single choices...
