I recognise Ambitions, Superman, Real Late Starter (Nerina's raking in the royalties this year - first Kylie and now this!), Smile (made my personal chart by Uncle Kracker 7 or 8 months ago). 4 out of 12 isn't that bad, it's not like they're well known songs in the UK. I don't think any of the others are covers, will probably buy this album.

From James' reaction I was expecting a Don't Stop Believin', No Regrets, Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me cheap cash in type album :o

All covers? I listened to the previews and don't recognize any of them at all

That's probably because they're all covers of not very well known songs, like Donkeyboy and Nerina Pallot.

They're not all covers, but a few are. They're mostly obscure covers, except The Climb, which we know/have heard anyway. There's Smile by Uncle Kracker (it peaked at 31 on the Hot 100) and Nerina Pallot's Real Late Starter as well as Superman by Five For Fighting. I've heard Uncle Kracker and Nerina, but have no idea about Superman?

I do think it's better to be obscure covers than well known covers, at least it's not a run-of-the-mill bargain bin covers album.
Incorrect. He's only writing the song, which we can expect to be better than last year's which ever way you cut it.

For me, this song is catchy as hell, and greatly exceeds by expectations. But it's annoying to see, once again, Syco push their alumni down a route that is already chock-full of more successful artists - it's like he won't let Joe, Olly, Leon, Alexandra et al be themselves for fear of not selling well. Instead he makes them into other artists that he thinks are about over.

Oh HELL TO THE NO. You DO NOT play around with Mika. He writes songs about sluts and calls them funny names so people think they're actually singing a little nursery rhyme-esque songs but actually you're being VERY RUDE, ITE?

Go Mika

Eh you tit. You completely missed my point. :|

Ideally of course, it would be better if close to half of this album wasnt covers. I myself only really know of the Nerina single (and was also a huge fan of it - it sounds very odd being covered) but you have to wonder how dissapointing the original material must have been if half the tracks on an 11 track album are covers.
I really like Joes voice but sadly some of these songs are pants. He is so much better than most of this material but I hope he does well.Syco are just beyond lazy and each song seems to have no distinct sound.
The b-side, If You Love Me, is seriously great. Exactly what I'd hoped for from Joe - sounds like something either Ola or Darin would do, great stuff :D
Not looking great for this single..made #14 so far, will obviously shoot up after x factor but got to think of how the song will do long-term and how he will do long term..

So his 11 track album has... 5 covers on? That's ridiculous.

Ambitions isn't doing that great on iTunes at the moment, #14 whilst Duck Sauce are #8!

The album sounds like Mika and Scissor Sisters discarded tonnes of tracks from their recording sessions and Cowell went scavenging. Very disappointing but totally different to what I expected he would release when he first won.

I think 'Someone Wake Me Up', 'Don't Let The Stars Run Out' and 'Superstar' [it is amazing despite being a cover], are obvious follow up singles here, but I will reserve full judgement until I can hear more than just the clips. The rest range from average to downright absurd.
