Impressive for her since she is one of those artists who's been around long before the download age.

Yeah it is!. Madonna is the ONLY act from the 1980's in the list of the top 100 downloads ever!. (Well ok, The Pogues ft. Kirsty Macoll's Fairy Tale Of New York is in the list too but it's only really in the charts because it's a christmas song).

I was expecting at least one of Michael Jackson's songs in the top 100. As Man In The Mirror was big after his death.

Speaking of the download era. Hung Up spent 7 straight weeks at #1 on the download chart which is a record.

Thanks a lot for posting the list above. I need to update page 1 with the sales.

As for the sales Like A Prayer must have sold a lot more as the haiti version, the live sticky & sweet tour version have been since release and it being on the Celebration greatest hits album then anyone else just downloading it after airplay or just randomly.

I can't see how Me Against The Music is meant to be at 240k. 140k max and that I would question. As for Gambler I can't see how sales have increased when you can't download it or buy the physical.

As for a million seller Madonna will hit it one day with the help of downloads hopefully it will be Into The Groove. Every so often when I get a itunes voucher and can't think to download anything I do download that. Lol

It would be great to see how her the bottom end of the sales list is now.

If anyone downloads any songs it would be great to see what YOU are buying so feel free to post it in here!.

Lady Gaga addresses Born This Way comparisons

Lady Gaga has finally chimed in on the controversy that her new single, 'Born This Way,' sounds like Madonna's 1989 anthem, 'Express Yourself.'

Fresh off her appearance at the Grammys on Sunday night, Gaga paid a visit to 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno' where Jay asked her what her thoughts were on the comparisons that are being made between the two songs.

'There is really no one that is a more adoring and loving Madonna fan than me,' Gaga responded. 'I am the hugest fan personally and professionally.'

The pop superstar went on to reveal that she received communication from her Madgesty, and that she's OK with the song.

'Well, the good news is that I got an e-mail from her people and her, sending me their love and complete support on behalf of the single and if the queen says it shall be, then it shall be,' Gaga told Jay.

As previously reported on , Gaga dropped 'Born This Way,' the lead single off her album of the same name, on February 2, and almost immediately, people were comparing it to Madonna's iconic tune.

Gaga's performance at the Grammys - where she had a long blonde ponytail, not unlike Madonna's previous look - just prompted more fodder on the topic, including headlines like E! Online's 'Is Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' A Rip-Off of Madonna Classics?' and MTV's 'Does Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' Owe Debt To Madonna?'

Hung Up re enters the itunes top 1000 last week at #948.

Thanks to gaga for glee for the info.

Shame Hung Up was released when downloads / sales were not that high .

Looking at those sales i find it really interesting how successful Beautiful Stranger was! Its sold over half a million copies and outsold many classic madge tunes (vogue, la isla bonita, like aprayer etc). I can rememeber that s club 7 debut hit 'bring it all back' beat it to number 1 back in 1999.

Beautiful Strangers chart run = {2}-4-8-10-10-14-18-21-21-21-25-33-40-48-59-72->16

Thats 5 weeks in the top 10! I really like this song and hope she revisits it on the next tour!!!

Im also quite suprised with the average sales of express yourself! This was the second single release, had an amazing video , has been performed on 3 tours yet barely sold 200,00! I wonder if this year this will rise with the 'born this way' comparisions!

Yeah Beautiful Stranger did brilliant her best selling single of '90s here. Her best seller since True Blue. There was a lot of buzz around Madonna then after her successful Ray Of Light album the song got LOADS of airplay on the radio and tv.
  • 1 month later...
They should do that with Into The Groove so it can get even closer to a million sales!!!
  • Author
Thanks for the info guys!. I'd love to see Into The Groove or Vogue back in the charts.
