Posted October 8, 201014 yr Friday 22nd October 2010 Right back in business. Thanks to Alan for the last 2 weeks. Didn't he do well?! Sounds like Bruce Forsyth that. And wasn't it great a week ahead, those new number oness before the snail. Or were you being rather boring & listening to Richard Skinner with an out of date chart? Mind you Radio One were still pulling in some 10 million, but look at it this way: Jimmy Savile actually got more listeners than the Top 40...as The Network Chart pulled in some 4 million ex-Radio One listeners as the Network grew each week. By 1994, Radio One was no longer top chart at just 6 million compared to the 7 million of the Pepsi Chart then with Neil Fox. 25 years from 1985, only 4 million people listen to any chart. 01 01 POWER OF LOVE - JENNIFER RUSH 02 03 TRAPPED - COLNEL ABRAMS 03 07 TAKE ON ME - A-HA 04 08 ST ELMO'S FIRE - JOHN PARR 05 05 ALIVE AND KICKING - SIMPLE MINDS 06 20 MIAMI VICE THEME - JAN HAMMER 07 13 SLAVE TO THE RHYTHM - GRACE JONES 08 02 LEAN ON ME - REDBOX 09 10 GAMBLER - MADONNA 10 04 IF I WAS - MIDGE URE 11 31 NIKITA - ELTON JOHN 12 06 REBEL YELL - BILLY IDOL 13 11 SINGLE LIFE - CAMEO 14 33 LIPSTCK POWDER & PAINT - SHAKIN STEVENS 15 22 RAIN - CULT 16 27 SOMETHING ABOUT YOU - LEVEL 42 17 09 PART TIME LOVER - STEVIE WONDER 18 NE ELCTION DAY - ARCADIA 19 12 DANCING IN THE STREET - BOWIE & JAGGER 20 32 I BELIEVE - TEARS FOR FEARS 21 14 ANGEL - MADONNA 22 29 THIS IS ENGLAND - CLASH 23 35 YEH YEH - MATT BIANCO 24 38 BRING ON THE DANCING HORSES - ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN 25 16 BODY ROCK - MARIA VIDAL 26 NE TASTE OF YOUR TEARS - KING 27 17 HOLDING OUT FOR A HERO - BONNIE TYLER 28 26 LOVE TAKEOVER - FIVE STAR 29 NE KING FOR A DAY - THOMPSON TWINS 30 15 SHE'S SO BEAUTIFUL - CLIFF RICHARD Top Pre-Order Singles this week 01 LOVE YOU MORE - JLS 15th Nov 02 PROMISE THIS - CHERYL COLE 25th Oct 03 FLOOD - TAKE THAT 15th Nov 04 ONLY GIRL - RIHANNA 25th Oct 05 SAFE - WESTLIFE 8th Nov 06 MY WICKED HEART - DIANA VICKERS 1st Nov 07 GOTTA BE SOMEBODY - SHAYNE WARD 8th Nov 08 WELL WELL WELL - DUFFY 22nd Nov 09 THINKING OF YOU - OLLY MURS 22nd Nov 10 STAY THE NIGHT - JAMES BLUNT 1st Nov Ho ho ho...Do I see the end for Take That with this single? October 22, 201014 yr Hmmm JLS have the same 4 sleeve album deal with HMV - One CD featuring each member solo - which will probably help their sales. Would be funny if the inclusion of Robbie turns fans away rather than creates more ;)
October 22, 201014 yr Author The big finish & this week's top 75 lowdown. Unofficially compiled (don't you hate that word). Official apparently means "true". Well I'm not lying to anyone! He was there on Friday 24th September. Not good when songs back to number one. Luckily it didn't happen much on the BBC Top 20 in the 50s/60s/70s/80s, if at all. It certainly didn't happen at all during those first 2 decades, not on the BBC Pick Of The Pops/TOTP charts. It did on other charts, but they were Guiness related & didn't count anyway.
October 22, 201014 yr Bit disappointing for Taylor :( Hopefully her performance on Paul O Grady tonight can help her out. And very surprised at her physical sales, I'm sure someone on a Taylor Swift fan-site said that the CD came with a poster, which I thought would encourage a lot of her fan-base to buy it :o Also shocked at The Social Network only being #2 at the box office, after the excellent reviews it has received.
October 22, 201014 yr Welcome back Dave, hope you had a nice breakaway, early Tracey Ullman hit  ;) That is one of my favourite weeks of 1985, I have got 17 of those on 7inch vinyl, A'Ha, Red Box also around this time Pet Shop Boys exploded onto the music scene.
October 22, 201014 yr Dave, what would you say are the chances of; 1. Eminem & Lil Wayne being top 40 2. Nelly being top 10 3. Katy being top 5 ?
October 22, 201014 yr Welcome back Dave :D so judging on pre-orders- Cheryl Cole should be an easy number 1 next week then, and Rihanna should get another number 2, I almost feel sorry for her  JLS and Take That will be the top 2 in that order on the week of November 15th then Dianas physicals should ensure another week in the top 20 :D
October 22, 201014 yr Author 1. Eminem & Lil Wayne being top 40 (Unlikely) 2. Nelly being top 10 (not impossible) 3. Katy being top 5 (It could happen, with a switcheroo with Mike but both are not so high up on download sites other than iTunes)
October 22, 201014 yr Author Where is Pixie Lott/ JasonDerulo? All even, where are they! They are 52, but without the #1 Rihanna Tribute Band, they will be 51.
October 22, 201014 yr Welcome back Dave So I guess Eminem will be top 40 on Sunday. Any sign of Hurts (Stay) or the Pet Shop Boys (single Together/compilation Ultimate) on the pre-orders?
October 22, 201014 yr Unlucky for Diana Vickers, her position looks about right now in the official chart come Sunday, Nelly is going to get ahead of her now.
October 22, 201014 yr I hope No Love does make the top 40 this week. I've never heard it on the radio before. :) The song is quite long though, so they'll have to cut like 2 minutes of it out.
October 25, 201014 yr Wow JLS Number 1 in Single Pre-orders :o . Didn't expect them to be ahead of Take That and even Cheryl who's single is out today.. 3 weeks before them
