Right back in business. Thanks to Alan for the last 2 weeks. Didn't he do well?! Sounds like Bruce Forsyth that. Shall we send him the cruet set or the cuddly toy?

Flashback to October 1985:

Top TV then

01 OPEN ALL HOURS 18.70...the final series on Tuesdays this year with Ronnie & David

02 FRESH FIELDS 17.40...Julia McKensie & Anton Rodgers in the brilliant Sitcom. How about a repeat ITV4?

03 CORONATION STREET 16.40

04 EASTENDERS 16.20...early days for Den, Angie et al

05 IN SICKNESS AND IN HEALTH 15.40...Alf Garnett, Else & some gay black bloke. A sure winner for Warren Mitchell. Quite tame, but apparently UK TV wouldn't touch it today. No, they'd rather show people swearing & half killing each other...don't it make you sick?

06 MINDER 14.50...Arthur & Terry & dodgy deals. Wasn't it great the way they made the Police look like idioots!

07 BERGERAC 14.30...John Nettles in Jersey & more crime than you could shake a stick at

08 THE SECRET DIARY OF ADRIAN MOLE AGE 13 & 3 QUARTERS 13.90...ITV Monday at 8pm & the theme by Ian Dury "Profoundly In Love With Pandora"

09 BBC WEEKEND NEWS & WEATHER 13.50

10 THE BROTHERS MACGREGOR 13.40...a Coronation Street spin-off via sitcom. So bad, some ITV regions dropped it. It was about a couple of Used Car Salesman

11 BLANKETY BLANK 13.20...Les Dawson resides over the quiz

12 HOWARD'S WAY 12.70...Maurice Colburn & Jan Harvey and those Yachts in series one

13 JUST GOOD FRIENDS 12.60...Paul Nicholas & Jan Francis in the love to hate sitcom

14 EVER DECREASING CIRCLES 12.30...Richard Briers stars with Peter Egan & Penelope Wilton in a repeat of series one

15 3-2-1 12.10...Ted Rodgers & that bin game

16 CROSSROADS 12.00

17 DEMPSEY & MAKEPEACE 11.70...the crime drama with the male yank versus the female brit

18 LIVE FROM HER MAJESTY'S 11.70...Jimmy Tarbuck introduces the Sunday show at 7.45

19 EMMERDALE FARM 11.60...Seth & the gang

20 DYNASTY 11.30...Life with the Carringtons

Top Albums in October 1985: with 4 weeks at the top for the great Kate Bush, as we threw our Dire Straits albums out of the car window! Didn't you just get sick of them? There we were driving down the M4, with "So Far Away" blaring out of every car, stuck in tailback after tailback. Lucky Chris Rea wasn't about!

20 04 VITAL IDOL - BILLY IDOL

Top Singles in October 1985 on The Network Chart with Nescafe & the Kid at the controls. And wasn't it great a week ahead, those new number oness before the snail. Or were you being rather boring & listening to Richard Skinner with an out of date chart? Mind you Radio One were still pulling in some 10 million, but look at it this way: Jimmy Savile actually got more listeners than the Top 40...as The Network Chart pulled in some 4 million ex-Radio One listeners as the Network grew each week. By 1994, Radio One was no longer top chart at just 6 million compared to the 7 million of the Pepsi Chart then with Neil Fox. 25 years from 1985, only 4 million people listen to any chart.

Hmmm JLS have the same 4 sleeve album deal with HMV - One CD featuring each member solo - which will probably help their sales.

Would be funny if the inclusion of Robbie turns fans away rather than creates more ;)

) Position without downloads alone

= Posiition on Chart Show tv

Bruno the Mars returns to the top. He was there on Friday 24th September. Not good when songs back to number one. Luckily it didn't happen much on the BBC Top 20 in the 50s/60s/70s/80s, if at all. It certainly didn't happen at all during those first 2 decades, not on the BBC Pick Of The Pops/TOTP charts. It did on other charts, but they were Guiness related & didn't count anyway.

Bit disappointing for Taylor :( Hopefully her performance on Paul O Grady tonight can help her out. And very surprised at her physical sales, I'm sure someone on a Taylor Swift fan-site said that the CD came with a poster, which I thought would encourage a lot of her fan-base to buy it :o

Also shocked at The Social Network only being #2 at the box office, after the excellent reviews it has received.

Welcome back Dave, hope you had a nice breakaway, early Tracey Ullman hit  ;)

That is one of my favourite weeks of 1985, I have got 17 of those on 7inch vinyl, A'Ha, Red Box also around this time Pet Shop Boys exploded onto the music scene.

Dave, what would you say are the chances of;

1. Eminem & Lil Wayne being top 40

2. Nelly being top 10

3. Katy being top 5

?

Welcome back Dave :D

so judging on pre-orders- Cheryl Cole should be an easy number 1 next week then, and Rihanna should get another number 2, I almost feel sorry for her

JLS and Take That will be the top 2 in that order on the week of November 15th then

Dianas physicals should ensure another week in the top 20 :D

  • Author

1. Eminem & Lil Wayne being top 40 (Unlikely)

2. Nelly being top 10 (not impossible)

3. Katy being top 5 (It could happen, with a switcheroo with Mike but both are not so high up on download sites other than iTunes)

Where is Pixie Lott/ JasonDerulo?

All even, where are they!

They are 52, but without the #1 Rihanna Tribute Band, they will be 51.

Welcome back Dave

So I guess Eminem will be top 40 on Sunday. Any sign of Hurts (Stay) or the Pet Shop Boys (single Together/compilation Ultimate) on the pre-orders?

Unlucky for Diana Vickers, her position looks about right now in the official chart come Sunday, Nelly is going to get ahead of her now.
I hope No Love does make the top 40 this week. I've never heard it on the radio before. :) The song is quite long though, so they'll have to cut like 2 minutes of it out.
Wow JLS Number 1 in Single Pre-orders :o . Didn't expect them to be ahead of Take That and even Cheryl who's single is out today.. 3 weeks before them
