Madge rocked out to 'Rebel Rebel' on tour in tribute to Bowie:

David Bowie was the first artist she saw live on tour. A very fitting tribute for him <3

It's been exactly 10 years since that Brit Awards performance!

There's a better version on her Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/madonna/videos/10153862057104402/

It sometimes annoys me when people go overboard on tributes and make out like they were best friends or something but, in this case, it is touching. She's always cited him as an influence and and it's clear she learned a lot of things about being true to yourself from him. Very good choice of song too (now #71 and #114 on iTunes with four versions below that).

I've been having a Kobbar moment and wondered what would be adopted as a tribute song for Madonna if she ends up having any more cape incidents - going by the undeserving initial low peak thing that 'Man in the Mirror' and 'Heroes' had, perhaps 'Take a Bow'? "Say goodbye" as the last lyric seems particularly poignant.

I've actually been thinking about this too! (:/) I am almost certain it'll be 'Like A Prayer'. Not the most apt lyrically, but of the ones radio will play following her death it's the one that will surely connect and resonate most with the public.

She has a lot of songs about death and mortality but my own personal favourite would probably be 'The Power of Goodbye'. :(

BUT let's not even think about such an event :(((

Pepsi’s big Super Bowl commercial this Sunday will include a classic Madonna song — nearly thirty years after the soft-drink company had to pull an ad featuring another Madonna tune.

In 1989, Madonna’s hit “Like a Prayer” was featured in a Pepsi commercial, but controversy soon erupted over the song’s video, which featured the singer kissing a black saint and other provocative uses of Catholic imagery. The Vatican condemned the video, and family and religious groups threatened a boycott of Pepsi products. Pepsi caved, the ad was pulled and Madonna’s contract was canceled, though she kept her initial fee.

Now, another classic Madonna tune — “Express Yourself” — is featured in Pepsi’s new commercial, which has a theme of past, present and future.

The spot, starring R&B singer Janelle Monae [moh-NAY], starts with her dancing to the sixties hit “Do You Love Me” by the Contours. Next, she’s sporting an early Madonna outfit and dancing to “Express Yourself.” The spot ends with Janelle singing her updated version of the “Joy of Pepsi” jingle.

As for why “Express Yourself,” which appears on Madonna’s 1989 album Like a Prayer, was chosen, Pepsi VP of marketing Chad Stubbs tells Ad Age, “It was within that album and era that we had worked with Madonna before.”

Was on a night out with some of the others from Buzzjack last night - the club usually play Madonna but the one time a few of us were there they didn't :( (made sure there was plenty of Madonna during pre-drinks so it was ok :P)

And Joe got me the Rebel Heart deluxe CD as a gift randomly

'Like a Prayer' played on my night out yesterday - never fails to get the club clapping and singing along; it just has a genius anthemic sound to it.

I'm still awaiting on the night they play 'Hung Up' or 'Ray of Light' so that I just die with elation.

'Like A Prayer' is an essential one *.* This club usually play at least 'Hung Up' but didn't hear it y'day.

We had 'Jump', 'Papa Don't Preach', 'Hung Up' and 'Vogue' on our pre-drinks playlist

Madonna arrived in London earlier this morning, apparently to meet Rocco.

Hello Madonna forum, I need your help :o

For my college project I am looking at the idea of celebrities being elevated to God like status and also looking at certain images of them being mistaken for actual relogious beings (i'm distorting the images etc, based around that whole "i saw jesus on my toast" thing)

Basically I am in need of some links to pics of Madge embodying religion in some way, like using the crucifix, dressed as god, you know the type? I could google, but thought I'd ask here first.
