I think he meant like sales in one week.

 

Riverside sold almost 100,000 in one week to get #2 back in January. I think that's the highest so far this year (although perhaps Frisky sold more, when Shout beat it to #1?).

 

Only Girl might sell more than 100,000 week, which would indeed make it the highest sales a song needed to chart at #2. Infact, that'd be double what a few #1s got this year (I think Gettin' Over You and Good Times got #1 with under 50,000 sales).
