Not particularly, just my inclination. ;)

Ok, so when you say you're sure, you're really just hoping :)

I don't think the pop bar will increase substantially following the X performance (well certainly no more than the normal pop bar increase for a new release) - on the basis that (compared with Matt's Bruno Mars performance) a bigger proportion of those who are likely to buy Promise This in the first couple of days and who watch X Factor will already have bought the track prior to the X performance, and as a result the additional purchases following the X Factor performance will be marginal compared with the natural curve of purchases for any new track, and certainly compared with Bruno Mars' bar.

I'm not saying Cheryl's performance won't boost her popularity bar - of course it will - but as I'm saying, I don't think the effect is going to be anywhere near the effect Matt's performance had on Bruno's bar.

think where all pretty sure shes gonna have a huge lead after tonight i mean come on its cheryl cole everyone loves her and after pier morgan last night i think people love her even more

Comments like that really get on my wick - "everyone loves her". Really? Everyone? Including The Pope, Osama Bin Laden and God? :o Jeez. :(

Spiidey you cant really tell me what i'm sure about, i am sure, and just wait and see, my inclination will come true. ^_^

Ok, fair enough, I was just interested in your reasons and rationale for thinking that - that's why I asked you to expand on your original statement.

Something like Robjames' post at the top of this page was what I was getting at - even though I don't agree with his rationale, I can understand why he thinks it will happen.

I accept it's just a hunch on your part though.

yes

Thank you Britster. :)

Does it have a separate "single-only" component that will appear on the iTunes singles chart?

Yeah, just a hunch. :) As you say anyway we'll see, we'll have a good idea by tonight/tomorrow morning if the hunch comes true which i'm pretty sure it will do

Yup, PSBs have stalled. Shame, I haven't heard 'Together' but I've liked most PSB material and it'd be a real shame if their top 40 streak is ended.

Then again, I suppose their physical buying fanbase could easily get it top 40 on its physical release week.

Tracks from EPs do appear in the iTunes singles Top 1000.

New Releases

189. Aretha - Rumer

That's from the EP.

i love how someone said earlier that within the next hour rihanna will be top 5 then the next hour top 3 and within an hour shes no 4, and someone was doubting she would do so and telling the person of...

yeh looks like shes doing it fine!

Thanks, for some reason hadn't noticed that.

If you download the whole EP it counts towards the EP on the iTunes album chart. If you just download the one song ('Aretha') it counts towards that one entry on the regular iTunes feed. Both count towards the official singles chart.

I'm not entirely sure what happens if you 'Complete Your Album'. I *think* it takes away a sale from the regular iTunes feed and adds one onto the EP, but I'm not sure about that. No idea what it does sales-wise in the official chart either. Do you know britster?

Thanks for that bray. That's how I thought it worked too. Like you, I'm unsure what happens with the Complete Your Album feature.

If an EP has 4 remixes and you download 3 of them, and you decide to complete your album to get the 4th, then the 3 sales you made earlier are cancelled, ie, each of those remixes gets -1 added to their total. And the EP adds just 1 sale to the song.

So if you're a loon big fan and you want every sale to count, don't purchase the EP, buy the remixes individually

Well in the states when people like Katy Perry or Taylor swift release an album, they have their pre-album release songs released on iTunes. You can then 'complete my album' and get the album at a reduced rate having already paid for the songs, and that counts as an album sale. It doesn't take away anything from the sales of the songs you've already purchased.
