Posted October 22, 201014 yr From http://entertainment.stv.tv/music/204284-p...astonbury-2011/ Glastonbury 2011 looks set to have the hottest headliners yet with Prince, U2 and Coldplay being lined up for the festival 22 October 2010 10:02 GMT If you’re one of the lucky punters who managed to get their hands on tickets for Glastonbury 2011, you could be in for a treat as U2, Prince and Coldplay have been touted as headliners for the festival. According to The Sun, organiser Michael Eavis has already signed Prince and U2 to top the bill on the Pyramid Stage, and he is in final negotiations to secure Coldplay. If confirmed, it will be the first time Prince and U2 have played Glastonbury and the third headline slot for Coldplay. A source told the paper: "Michael was very keen to get the lineup sorted early and is over the moon at securing such massive acts. He is a huge fan of Prince and has been trying to nab him for years. The fact it's been tied up so quickly is a big but welcome shock." They added: "U2 were a fairly obvious capture. Michael immediately had his sights set on them after they were forced to cancel this year and they were very happy to oblige. "Coldplay are currently in negotiations about taking a headline slot. Michael has previously said Coldplay's set in 2005 was his personal favourite and is very pleased to be welcoming them back." Tickets for next year’s festival sold out just four hours after going on sale. Take That and Kylie are also rumoured to be performing. Eavis told MTV: “The headliners next year are absolutely fantastic, I can guarantee that. “It'll be on a par with this year, and possibly slightly better even.”

November 3, 201014 yr I heard on the Radio today that Prince is scheduled to appear on the X- Factor  Bang goes his credibility then  Yes i was surprised when i heard that, he must be the biggest name they've ever had on that show. Who next? Madonna? I bet Simon Cowell wishes.
November 3, 201014 yr Yes i was surprised when i heard that, he must be the biggest name they've ever had on that show. Who next? Madonna? I bet Simon Cowell wishes. What about Macca? :o Celine, Mariah, Whitney and Bon Jovi have all sold more albums than Prince but could any of them sell out 25 nights in the O2 in London? None of them have had close to the influence as Prince (Macca asive) - so it is very surprising to see him go on the show. But then it was shocking when Macca appeared too. Next up David Bowie? My ideal line-up is: Friday: Eminem Saturday: U2 Sunday: Prince I don't want Coldplay again - they have done it twice already and were not brilliant the last time. Besides - better off keeping it as three legendary acts in their own genres headlining for the first time ever. :D Edited November 3, 201014 yr by De Niro
November 5, 201014 yr Cheryl Cole must be due a headline slot surely? :kink: Miming would not be on at Glasto. She would get belted with bottles. -_- Rumors are that Robbie has reconsidered and TT will infact headline Glasto
February 18, 201114 yr Author Looks like U2 on course to play Glastonbury Friday night From http://www.thisisfakediy.co.uk/articles/ne...for-glastonbury Elbow Confirm Themselves And U2 For Glastonbury? Q Magazine says the two bands will play the main stage. Posted 18th February 2011, Elbow have apparently confirmed in an interview with Q Magazine that they will be playing Glastonbury Festival this year - and they've also confirmed U2, as they'll be playing the Friday night main stage before them. "This month Elbow set off on their first arena tour, to promote their fifth, even better album, 'Build A Rocket Boys!'," the article reads. "In June they'll celebrate their 20th anniversary together. That same month they're on Glastonbury's Friday night main stage before U2. "For the first time ever we're releasing a record people might actually buy," marvels Mark "Pot" Potter, Elbow's guitarist and Craig's older brother. "We've never been in that position before."" So, the question is, are Q Magazine speculating, or have they had official confirmation?
November 2, 201113 yr U2’s Bono blames disappointing Glastonbury show on the ‘wrong shoes’ :P Apparently the 'ice rink' stage left them 'freaked out' U2 frontman Bono has said that the “wrong shoes” were the reason why his band’s headline set at this summer’s Glastonbury Festival was a disappointment. Apparently his footwear and the "ice rink" like stage, which was caused by the rain, were not a good match. Talking to Q magazine, the singer explained that there were a number of factors which lead the show being less than impressive in his eyes. He said: There were a couple of things... There was a DJ under the stage  , playing music in between sets, and he bumped into our keyboard computer. So we lost all the keyboards :arrr: … I walked out and realised that the stage was like an ice rink and I was wearing the wrong shoes. I couldn't move - I was stuck on the spot. We were a bit freaked out. ( It can happen to the best of em ) In another recent interview, Bono raised questions about the U2’s future, admitting that the Irish four piece, who reissued their 1991 album 'Achtung Baby' yesterday (October 31), have become irritated by him questioning the relevance of the rock veterans in the current musical climate. He told Rolling Stone: “I'm not so sure the future hasn't dried up. The band are like, 'Will you shut up about being irrelevant?' We'd be very pleased to end on [2009 studio album] 'No Line On The Horizon' [but] I doubt that.” Guitarist The Edge said the band, who recently completed their '360' world tour, may return next year but "it's equally possible that they won't".
