October 25, 201014 yr Cheryl will be number one eventhough I prefer OG, I reckon rihanna will sell more in the long run!
October 25, 201014 yr I want Rihanna to be #1 on Sunday but I think Cheryl will be #1 because she had X Factor and Piers Morgan: Life Stories. But her lead aint as big as I was expecting it to be :o I still think she'll be #1 on Sunday. Rihanna, I think will be #1 next week since its her turn on the X Factor ^_^
October 25, 201014 yr I think Rihanna will be #1 on iTunes in 2 days. But physicals could give an advantage to Cheryl.
October 25, 201014 yr I actually think that both Cheryl and Rihanna will sell over 100k - just maybe??? I was just thinking that myself. I'm actually really impressed that Rihanna is doing so well without any promotion whatsoever - I'd like to think 'Only Girl' is selling on musical merit alone. :D Obviously next week it'll be selling well due to The X Factor. Would be fantastic if somehow Rihanna beat Cheryl Cole to no. 1 this week. As for Cheryl Cole, is she going to rely on The X Factor every year to release her "comeback" single? It worked twice for Leona ('Bleeding Love', 'Run') but 'Happy' lost out to Black Eyed Peas. Cheryl Cole shouldn't be guaranteed no. 1 just because it's Cheryl. That's as bad as when Westlife were getting to no. 1 with non-songs, at least the best they can do now is #2 (which is still too high :D ). on tim berg - i had a feeling bromance wouldn't do overly well this week - its not distinctive enough for a dance song - i hear it 5 times a day on radio 1 and yet still couldnt tell you how it goes - it just passes me by.it could be top 10 tho as with most dance tunes it will have multiple versions on itunes!! That's because the UK have been given some mash up with the original 'Bromance' with some female vocals added which are apparantly from another song altogether. So it's 'Toca's Miracle' only without the miracle!!! :kink: I much prefer the original instrumental version by Tim Berg. Even the original music video with the drunken man who turns out to be a priest is inspired. The UK video is like an updated copy of 'Lady' by Modjo!!! (two men and a lady travelling around doing stuff...thrilling).

At the same time, out of the 6 acts who performed so far this year, she would be the first one to actually make it to number 1, and she was already topping Itunes before her performance, so you can't say she only relies on the show to get success. Plus let's not forget her first album celebrated its 52 consecutive week in the top75 this week and is nearing the one million mark. That's an achievement in the music industry, and it can't be all put down to her X Factor performance really.

October 25, 201014 yr FFS. Cheryl has found a means of promotion that brings her a lot of success. Why the hell would she just stop 'relying' on it? It's promotion that's been proven to work, she's not going to stop, that would be stupid. You need to promote music or it won't sell.

Maybe so, but it would be interesting for Cheryl Cole to release a new single in, for example, May 2011 and see how well the song does without The X Factor providing an extra boost. I'd also think those who bought 'Promise This' pre-Sunday nights results show knew Cheryl was going to be performing and couldn't wait to download it. This will be very frontloaded compared to 'FFTL' which did sustain its sales brilliantly last year. How much do you think 'Promise This' will sell in total this year? I'm guessing it'll sell roughly 400k.

Fight For This Love and Bleeding Love were always going to #1. BL's performance worldwide especially shows that the song didn't need a big performance to be a smash hit. It reached #1 pretty much everywhere before she'd even entered the country. Time and time again it has been proven that XF performances don't guarantee #1s. People still ignore it though for some reason and claim certain songs are only #1 because of the performance.

Cheryl does not need XF to get hits, XF just makes said hits bigger. Edited October 25, 201014 yr by ~ braysammich ~
October 25, 201014 yr Cheryl was ahead before X Factor- so it would have been number 1 regardless, its lead just would have been smaller- X Factor doesnt 'make' a song number 1 it simply boosts them- Hollywood for example could be heading for top 10 now, yet we have already witnessed it chart at 17 and start to plummet- so it was simply given a boost Edited October 25, 201014 yr by chart wizard

Considering Parachute was released in March this year - got to #5 and has sold roughly 350,000 I think its safe to say Cheryl can sell a single without the X Factor. One of only a few artists (including international) that can sell a single strongly months after the album's release. I kind of don't want Cheryl to smash it like Fight For This Love though, for a start I want Nadine to be #1 the week after (yes I do realise this won't happen!)
October 25, 201014 yr Cheryl is basically a role-model to loads of girls whether you like it or not. That's why she's having the success she's having now. Oh, and I hope that Cheryl gets to #1 but RiRi goes top next week. Both songs are just *can't think of a suitable word to describe their awesomeness*
October 25, 201014 yr And a best selling single this year ;) Just comparing last year's sales to this year's predicted sales. Do you not agree with the facts then? FFS. Cheryl has found a means of promotion that brings her a lot of success. Why the hell would she just stop 'relying' on it? It's promotion that's been proven to work, she's not going to stop, that would be stupid. You need to promote music or it won't sell. LOL. Did that hit a nerve? I would love to see her release a lead single without an X Factor performance and without the X Factor being on. Then we would see how popular she really is. There's promotion and then there's promotion that means a shower of $h!t can be released and get to number one. Not that I am calling "Promise This" $h!t. Cheryl is basically a role-model to loads of girls whether you like it or not. That's why she's having the success she's having now. Oh, and I hope that Cheryl gets to #1 but RiRi goes top next week. Both songs are just *can't think of a suitable word to describe their awesomeness* A role-model to young girls, like attacking people in nightclubs? And, Ive found another word to describe the two songs mentioned, average. :cheer:
October 25, 201014 yr A role-model to young girls, like attacking people in nightclubs? Really? Was that necessary? People change, Cheryl Cole has obviously shown that she has grown up as a person, and that situation has been put behind her. Bring that up is essentially grasping at straws in a discussion.
October 25, 201014 yr Um Cheryl might have moved on but members of the public who don't like violence haven't.
October 25, 201014 yr Um Cheryl might have moved on but members of the public who don't like violence haven't. Aka, Jealous haters.
October 25, 201014 yr Um Cheryl might have moved on but members of the public who don't like violence haven't. Well then they need to. She got into a fight with another woman, like many people have, and she's grown up, and knows that how she reacted is not an appropriate action to take. If something like that is still being held against her, then it's rather pathetic and the people holding it against her need to grow up and get a reality check, in my opinion.
