I'm surprised Mariah Carey isn't higher considering she's got a new christmas single - and its not that bad actually. Not All I Want For Christmas, but it's not an embarrasment (in my opinion anyway)
Nothing will sell the 400,000+ needed for a Christmas number one apart from the X Factor or something backed by a facebook campaigned. The problem with facebook backed singles is that last year there was one big campaign for Rage this year there seems to be several so all the sales will just get spread about.
i know i will bet against them. . . answer me though. . .
Bad Cover Version has been mentioned as a 'protest' song.

Good choice of song. Perhaps there should be a Fix Factor-tyoe campaign to choose one campaign song over the next six weeks.

If it'll go in this pace Xmas weekend will be the X Factor final weekend... so eh, it'll probably be any other record then...
Mariah's problem is that AIWFCIY will outsell the new one.

Lesson to artist: don't try to fix it if it's not broken.

I wouldnt bet on that. Her new song is her best in quite a while. An artist releasing an original christmas song is quite rare these days. I think it could do quite well.

Is Gamu releasing a single? :o

I don't see them having the final on Boxing Day. A lot of people would be out rather than home? Either way it's a pretty awesome stratergy but they wouldn't get guest stars on over the festive period. I think they'll be a couple more double eliminations thrown in along the way for it to finish on 12th and the winner's single out in time for the Christmas chart which will be the 19th.

I'm backing The Pogues for Xmas #1. Deserves it after all the times it's been top 10

I think the number of people involved would make a Boxing Day final (when there is no public transport) totally impractical. It's not just the people in front of the camera. There's also the audience and all the people working behind the scenes (who would want to be paid twice their usual rate).
