January 26, 201114 yr This was a lot darker than I originally thought it would be. Some of the scenes were also a bit more gruesome than I originally thought too! Particularly the part where she peels the bit of skin on her finger! I even cringed at that! It was fantastic though. Beautifully done! Natalie is gorgeous and extremely talented, and I wish Mila Kunis was up for the Supporting Actress Award at the Oscars :( The lesbian scene was more graphic than I thought it would be too!
January 27, 201114 yr The lesbian scene was more graphic then you thought. Each to their own but i found that scene a hit and miss and barely graphic. I've seen more lesbian chemistry and sexual tension in Glee then this.

Wasn't expecting it to be as full on as it ended up being!

February 1, 201114 yr just watched this. f***ing hell. to start with, like the first half, i kept thinking 'what is the fuss about', and i was even doubting Portman's performance a bit (i didnt think it was bad, but not as exceptional as people ahve been saying), but the second half was the complete opposite of this, thrilling, terrifying, and a brilliant performance from Portman, I feel that the film language really did convey the construction and deconstruction of the character, i wouldnt say this was my sort of film, but it was brilliant filmmaking from Aronofsky, if only every film was this well thought out and made.
February 6, 201114 yr There are some slight things about this movie that remind me of Girl interupted. Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis Performances and characters are slight reminiscent of Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie's characters played. 'Girl, Interrupted' was on last night, and with me being the age I am, I had never heard off it :/ Thought it was incredible!! I thought it was a tiny bit predictable at times, but overall an amazing film!!
February 24, 201114 yr I Saw this film last night but at the cinema as originally i watched the dvd screener online back in December. Watching it the second time, it truly is a fantastic film. But i do not think Natalie Portman pulled of a oscar worthy performance at all. But that isn't to say she didn't do a good performance though. It is one of the best films i have seen over the past few years.
March 12, 201114 yr Has anyone actually uncovered the interpretation of Black swan? The hidden themes and symbols within the movie. This movie pulled me into those questions the first time i watched it.
August 7, 201113 yr Author I just saw this at long last. The first hour was great. The last hour - particularly the last fifteen minutes - was absolutely astonishing. I'd go so far as to say Portman's performance was the best by a big-name actor in a Hollywood film in a long time, not just 2010. She inhabits the role completely, it's ridiculous. I just sat there watching the climax with my mouth wide open. Even the things you saw coming - like the fact that she hadn't really killed Lily - were played out so expertly with such ridiculous intensity that they seemed shocking. The dialogue from the very final scene ("I felt it. It was perfect.") really summed everything up so beautifully, I just love the idea that she was bleeding out and didn't care because she became the swan and smashed the ballet. I think I need to watch it again just to soak in the craftsmanship of it all over again but it's certainly my favourite film in a long time, probably since Vicky Cristina Barcelona. And credit to Mila Kunis but particularly Vincent Cassel who could so easily have been a panto pervert but was instead so believable as the director who really understood his art on a deeper level. Not to sound pretentious or anything! And there' loads more I want to say but I'll just finish by saying that Nina's mother was way more terrifying than any of the skin stuff. What an absolutely insane woman! Crawling across Nina's bedroom floor after she took the doorknob back I thought I was going to actually pass out just from watching her. Total crazy.
August 9, 201113 yr Finally saw this last night. The first half was slow but it definitley perked up. Brilliant.
August 9, 201113 yr Author I think we need a poll for scoring it. Could a mod add in a simple 0-10 scoring poll s'il vous plait? I loved it so much I went onto Zavvy and bought the DVD (£6.85!) straight after. I never do that with films.
August 9, 201113 yr BUYING the DVD? How very NORMAL of you. But yes it is a sensational film with an utterly amazing performance from Natalie, but her mother was far scarier than any of the other stuff for sure. Properly DEMENTED.
August 9, 201113 yr This film is truly incredible. Natalie Portman is amazing and so are the rest of the supporting cast. It's a film where you pick up something new every time you watch it as well.
