Posted October 30, 201014 yr I feel the success of this album is critical to whether Kylie will stay at Parlophone. She has worked with some big producers and had some big input from other valuable sources which wont come cheap. Clearly, the record company have invested in her hoping for a good return. I really hope Aphrodite can outsell X at least, because that was a poor album overall in comparison and doubt the record company will be pleased if it sells less.
October 30, 201014 yr Why would she? She stayed when X was considored a flop. I doubt she would leave after a #1 album and a single that has sold around 300,000 copies.
October 30, 201014 yr I don't think so... In this decade I've seen Kylie taking NO risk at all. I'd disagree, I'd say to release something like Body Language after Fever when she could've easily spat out a copy was quite risky in itself.
October 30, 201014 yr Body Language wasn't really that much of a risk. Slow was an attempt to recreate something as minimal as Head again although sadly the public didn't seem very impressed, Red Blooded Woman was slick American-sounding pop etc. I'd say her biggest 'risk' this decade was the release of 2 Hearts, and it was a pretty stupid one! But nobody ever said a great popstar was obliged to take risks constantly. Just releasing good music is enough.
October 31, 201014 yr Guess I am quite alone in loving the release of 2 Hearts then? I thought 2 hearts is quite a good song. I loved the vocals on it. Lead single material? Perhaps not, seen as though there was more worthy contenders on X. Cough, The One, Cough, Like A Drug, Cough... :D
October 31, 201014 yr I cant see Kylie leaving parlophone, aphrodite at the end of the day is only on relesae 3 months so far and has sold over 200,000, so with the tour and future singles coming i think it has quiet a few sales to get yet.
November 1, 201014 yr Author I cant see Kylie leaving parlophone, aphrodite at the end of the day is only on relesae 3 months so far and has sold over 200,000, so with the tour and future singles coming i think it has quiet a few sales to get yet. well I hope it sells more but not sure if it will. I have a feeling the momentum has kinda been lost by the under-performance of the 2nd single. I'm concerned there is no B side for "better than today" and she is going to be on the x factor 4 weeks before its release, which is a bit premature.
November 1, 201014 yr Guess I am quite alone in loving the release of 2 Hearts then? I love 2H both as a song and a single choice. Prior to its release, people want Kylie to do something new. When the song appeared it got criticism from fans everywhere but it drew praise from non-fans. People are always hard to please, but nonetheless, it managed to stay 13 weeks on chart which is pretty good.
November 1, 201014 yr Author I think 2 hearts was a poor lead single. It is a credible song, but there are much better songs that could have been lifted from the album as 1st single including like a drug and the one.
November 1, 201014 yr The weirdest thing in the choice for the lead single to "X" was that it di not represent the album at all. It was the only song of its kind on it. A good impact song to start it off would've probably been "Like a drug" or even "Nu-di-ty". "2 hearts" would've been a good one to close the singles coming from that album.
November 1, 201014 yr At best 2 hearts could have passed as the closing single but me personely wouldnt have it as a single and i totally agree it in no way represented the album, like a drug, wow,in my arms and the one should have been the singles and i think the one would have made a killer lead single.
November 1, 201014 yr 2hearts was def the worst single to release first. Didnt represent the album at all. Yes it was different but that doesnt make it good. Be different but be different with a great track. I dont hate it but it was def on the wrong album.
November 1, 201014 yr If I'd give an opinion on every lead single from the 11 albums the ones I'd criticise would be: Body language - "Slow", I'd have prefered "Red blooded woman" as the lead single, it'd have been a bit more exciting. X - "2 hearts", I'd have prefered like stated "Like a drug" as it would've made more of an impact. Aphrodite - "All the lovers", to be honest it's brilliant, but it's a real grower... "Get outta my way" or "Too much" would've been a bit more exciting. You can't really flaunt any of the other choices tho'. Best lead singles were "Spinning around", "Can't get you out of my head" and "I should be so lucky". "Word is out", if anything would've sold "Let's get to it", it was that.
November 1, 201014 yr For me the lead singles of the 11 albums for me would be Kylie I should be so lucky Enjoy Yourself never too late although hand on your heart was a great choice aswell. Rhythm of love Better the devil you know was spot on although what do i have to do would have been brilliant aswell. Lets Get To It Word is out Kylie Minogue Put yourself in my place Impossible princess i love some kind of bliss but i think breathe would have been a better lead single. Light Years the video did make spinning around but it wasnt the best song personely on a night like this and disco down with the same style video would have done well. Fever cant get you out of my head was the perfect introduction Body Language slow was the bets choice as lead single X the one or like a drug, wow or in my arms would have been great lead singles, definitly not 2 hearts. Aphrodite all the lovers was the perfect lead song i cant express how much i still adore this song.
November 1, 201014 yr Kylie - I should be so lucky. Still love this song so I definetly wouldnt change this release. Enjoy Yourself - Hand on your heart. Never really liked this song. One of my least liked songs of hers. Wouldnt chnage a thing would have been better Rhythm of love - Better the devil you know. Perfect first single choice. Lets Get To It - Word is out. Underrated single. I still like it. I love the album but not many stand out single choices. Kylie Minogue - Confide in me. Amazing single choice. Impossible Princess - Some kind of bliss. Didnt like it at the time but appreciate it now. Still not a great 1st single choice. Light Years - Spinning Around. Its a very average track. On a Night Like This or Disco Down should have been first single. Fever - Cant get you out of my head. Dont really like it much now but obviously great first single choice. Body Language - Slow. The only true single choice on the album. X - 2hearts. Should not have been a single. Never mind 1st single choice. Aphrodite - All the lovers. Great 1st single choice. November 1, 201014 yr Guess I am quite alone in loving the release of 2 Hearts then? I don't think it's a particularly great track, but was the right choice to introduce a very patchy album.
November 2, 201014 yr My main problem with 2 hearts is it didnt represent anything else on the X album, x is a patchy album but the songs are nearly in groups apart from 2 hearts if that makes sense. I think if 2 hearts had been kept as an album track i would like it alot more.
November 2, 201014 yr Author My choice of lead singles would be:- Kylie I should be so lucky Enjoy Yourself Hand on your heart Rhythm of love Better the devil you know Lets Get To It If you were with me now Kylie Minogue Confide in me Impossible princess Breathe Light Years Spinning around Fever Can't get you out of my head Body Language Slow X Like a drug Aphrodite All the lovers I think they have pretty much got it right apart from with "Let's get to it", "Impossible Princess" and "X"
