Seems that Leon Russell has now spent two weeks on album chart. Leon Russell and The Shelter People (#29, 1971) registered one week. So there was a gap of over 39 years between his first and second week in.

I hope he feels it was worth the wait  TBF he has written for a lot of other successful singers so he's done all right for himself.

Zeus555, if you're around, could you confirm this is the first time that in the same week one title has been top 10 in both charts, in one as a song/album and the other as an artist? Referring to Barbra Streisand of course. I can't imagine what circumstances could have possibly caused that to happen previously. :P

Excluding self-titled albums in the same week as one of that act's singles being top 10 obviously. Then there'd be loads. Including one this week (The Wanted)

I cannot think of any previous example, either.

Elton John has his first Top 75 Album Week in over 3 Years.

He was last in the Top 75 on W/E 20th October 2007, when

'Rocket Man - The Definitive Hits', was at No.73.

In the USA, 'The Union' is a No.3 Entry - his biggest Album

there since 1976, when 'Blue Moves' was a No.3 Album.

It is Leon Russell's 2nd UK Hit Album - over 39 Years after

his first - 'Leon Russell And The Shelter People', which reached

No.29 on W/E 3rd July 1971, & spent just 1 Week on the Chart.

'Promise This' is the 26th Top 10 Single that Cheryl Cole has

Sung on.

FEMALE ARTISTS ON THE MOST UK TOP 10 SINGLES

1) Madonna - 63 @@@

2) Kylie Minogue - 35 £££

3) Diana Ross - 28 (Includes 8 Supremes Hits, plus USA For Africa)

4) Beyonce - 27 (Includes 12 with Destiny’s Child)

5)=Mariah Carey - 26 (Includes a 2007 Re-Entry, & the Helping Haiti No.1)

5)=Cheryl Cole - 26 (Includes 20 with Girls Aloud, & the Helping Haiti No.1)

@@@ = If we include 2 Remixes & a Re-entry.

£££ = Includes Band Aid II, (1989), & Helping Haiti (2010)

UK FEMALE ARTISTS ON THE MOST UK TOP 10 SINGLES

1) Cheryl Cole - 26 (Includes 20 with Girls Aloud, & the Helping Haiti No.1)

2) Girls Aloud - 20 (Includes 1 with Sugababes)

3) Sugababes - 19 (Includes 1 with Girls Aloud, & Band Aid 20)

4)=Mel C - 17 (Includes 10 with the Spice Girls)

4)=Emma Bunton - 17 (Includes 10 with the Spice Girls)

6) Geri Halliwell - 16 (Includes 8 with the Spice Girls) $$$

$$$ = Although Geri had left the Spice Girls, by the time ‘Viva Forever’ was

No.1, (August 1998), her vocals are on that Hit. Hence why I’ve counted it.

One extra question zeuss. Has any artist had to wait more than 39 years to get their second week in the albums chart?

Suedehead2 - I believe that Leon Russell is the only Act, who has had to wait more than

39 Years for a 2nd Week in the Album Chart.

But, he's NOT the Act with the longest gap between a 1st & 2nd Hit Album.

Judy Garland is. 'Judy At Carnegie Hall' was a No.13 Album, in March 1962. It spent its 3rd,

(& final), Week on Chart on W/E 17th March 1962 - at No.20. She did not have a 2nd Hit Album

until W/E 24th April 2010, when 'Over The Rainbow - The Very Best Of Judy Garland' - reached

No.66 - spending just 1 Week on the Chart. A gap of just over 48 Years, between her 1st & 2nd

Hit Albums. (And her 3rd & 4th Chart Weeks).

The Male Act with the longest gap between Hit Albums is Del Shannon. (I believe).

He reached No.9, with 'Hats Off To Del Shannon', in June 1963. He then had a 2nd Hit Album,

in November 1963 - 'Little Town Flirt'. It reached No.15, & spent its final Week on the Chart,

(No.16), on W/E 30th November 1963.

He didn't have another Hit Album until THIS Year - when 'Runaway - The Very Best Of Del Shannon',

entered, & Peaked, at No.25, in the W/E 6th February Chart. A gap of over 46 Years, between his 2nd &

3rd Hit Albums.

If Freddy Cannon ever has a 2nd Hit Album, he will take those Chart Feats from Judy Garland, & Del Shannon.

'The Explosive Freddy Cannon' - Freddy Cannon - No.1 in March 1960. His only Hit Album.

Mel Tormé is the act who could have the absolute biggest gap between 2 hit albums if an album credited to him ever charts again. His last appearance in the chart was way back in September 1956.

Braysammich - I forgot about Mel Torme. I only know one Song by

him - 'Mountain Greenery'.
