Oh and yeah I finished 16th with 114 points, the amount Tatu won with! :w00t: :o

24 + 33 = 57

Ah yes. Apologies, I didn't fully digest that post clearly

How so? :S

Well I've seen people before suggesting that some of the big countries only keep doing well because there are 'popular' members behind the countries and they have a number of friends voting for their entries by default. And the fact that a lot of these countries have ended up top ten again helps to disprove this fact. Maybe it's just an anomaly and next time we'd see a top ten full of people whose entries don't usually do so well but I think it's more about certain genres having more widespread appeal to be honest, and the countries that don't usually do so well tend to opt for riskier entries (which is great) but with only niche appeal, imo.

Wooo for top three! I continue my run of top ten entries since XXIV, which was all I'd aimed to do ^_^ But yes, we've got something we're planning to win with next time. BE WARNED

And may I just say, OOF at that top ten

Not only that but Ashton achieved their 2nd highest finish since Butterflies.

To see Ashton, Kopecka and FSR Rontvia all make the top10 without any hassle with anonymity does prove credible evidence that this so called friendly voting doesn't happen.

A lot of countries ended up giving points to countries they normally do.

Big WTF at the random 24% deduction put on top?!!? I'm pretty sure most hosts, myself included, have given extra time for votes.. so why all of a sudden is 57% deduction been allowed? I didn't even know there was a 24hr extension after not actually being on a computer for more than 10 mins over the weekened etc.

Vote on time next time then :)

LOL i am going to rain on people's parades by saying this is the worst Top 10 ever in BJSC.

You just hate pop Pavel. YOU POPPIST BASTARD.

j/k

Thanks for the support (and for the 15 points) and I loved the animation as well! To be fair, SHINee did a hell of a lot better than I thought it would, me and my friends loved the track (some of them hate Asian pop normally too) which made my mind up about entering it; I was hesitant, because the last time I entered a Korean song it was by a girlband, with a Europop track that only managed about 40 points and a bottom 10 finish, so to get almost 100 points (well 94, but y'know close enough) with a boyband that seemed unpopular to even the few Asian pop lovers around here, was a great achievement. Which reminds me, I very much needs to thank;

Ojnoj, N-lazone, Botanikka, Espen, Xanaga, Torchwood, Lievant, Sangria, Numayania, Kingdom of Shadow, Ashton & especially Eledan, Jamora (again :D) and Lorikeet for the 15 points. Also, an extra special shout out to Ljósið, I was so chuffed when you put SHINee in your sig for a while, I'm glad I managed to create at least one mini-loon

Shinee's song was actually pretty good, as much as I don't like Asian boy bands (or really any boy bands) is deserved the points I gave it. As for your "Europop song by a girlband" I hope you know that you are almost single-handedly responsible for my Girls Generation loonage :kink: Actually, you and the nation of Japan but anyway :) They are #1 with the Japanese version of Gee in my chart at the moment, and #10 with the new Korean song Hoot :D Congratulations, and maybe Asian pop does have a future in this contest, since it seems about to take over the world (see Kanye West working with JYJ...)

Ha! I guess i'm getting 'indier' each day. :(

BTW we need more 'indie' countries!

It's indie takeover bitch!

Glad to come tenth! Wasnt expecting that good a result with our Charleene so quite pleased with that ^_^

A little dissapointed with the winner though, I didnt think Zoe was all that at all, APOLS.

I think it's probably more a case that the big countries have popular tastes rather than it being because they're popular themselves.

Unfortunately even if it does have maybe a tinge of unfairness.....it's not actually unfair if you think about it. Just the way it goes. It's not as much of a problem in the actual eurovision because you have such a larger voting base...so tastes are more spread.

It's the curse of being outnumbered taste wise.

I think this is also the first time since Dalisska started in BJSC 6 that Quotosibb has awarded us points. :o

I have you 3 points for whatever your BJSC 16 entry was. :)

Vote on time next time then :)

Um. I have to say, your deduction here was a bit uncalled for and slightly hypocritical. When was the last time the host gave non-voters a deduction of anything more than 33%?! The 33% is a blanket ban and not something that can just be manipulated as the host sees fit. You gave them an extra 24 hours, so what?! I'm sure you're not the first host to extend a deadline and you won't be the last. An extra 24% deduction is ridiculous. I find it particularly amusing that you'd be so harsh, given the delayed kickstart this contest got off to...

  • Author
* If a country does not submit its votes on time, it will have a deduction from its score. Deductions are up to the discretion of the host, but are typically 33%.

From the rules.

There was warnings deductions would be harsh for not voting and they have been very harsh in the past.

And as for the late kick off, that has been well explained. Laptop death does tend to get in the way of posting things when everything is saved on the laptop.

So if the host wants to....they can decide to make the deduction 100%?

Would the mods step in in that case?

I have a much wider music taste than my entries would suggest, but where is the point of sending a rock or urban track I like when it will appeal to 4 people? I'd rather send one of my favourite pop tracks and actually introduce something that a lot of people have the potential to love. Obviously it is harsh on those countries who only send indie and rock to the contest, because that's their taste, but it's just the way the contest is - primarily it's a pop contest and they'd find more success in Unknown Pleasures I think where there tastes are more catered to.

Me too, I listen to all genres of music, and from all eras. I have ecords from the 50s right up until now. But I'm not going to send a Rolling Stones B-side  This is a pop contest, and as such, I send current pop songs.

We would object to a very very very severe deduction, but the only people that have had any objections are Casey who suffered from it and Aaron. Which was a case of when would Aaron back up Casey after Casey complained rather than an if.

I am not altering the result of the contest. The deduction will remain as it is. Moan all you want it will change nothing.
