Posted November 2, 201014 yr I was just mulling this over today, and was wondering where everyone would consider themselves in the scheme of things and what everyone would consider their "role" to be in the BJSC? For example, how enthusiastic are you about it? Are you more or less into it than you used to be? Is it a major source of new music, competition and banter for you or do you just pass through and enter because you might as well? Do you think you personally have a particular role in the competition whether it be musically or some other more general thing that you think you bring to the forum? What do you think you are / would like to be known for on here, if anything? I know some people don't like blowing their own trumpets, and it's honestly not about that, I just thought it was quite interesting to see where people would personally see themselves in the context of the contest. Personally, whilst I've never been (nor will I ever be) an Ashton/Rontvia/Kopecka, ie in the very centre of things, I think there was a period where I think I would have been in the "B-list" of BJSC participants; not amongst the very core members but in the circle just outside of it, even though I'm certainly not talking in terms of results! I do think I gradually drifted apart from the contest after I hosted, especially since I never did odds or anything like that, and I eventually just stopped having fun and realised *shocker* real life was much better! Still, I've started to get back into it again, and I hope the contest does get back on track even though it probably won't ever be the hive of activity it used to be.
November 2, 201014 yr NU HITLER who is solely responsible for everything wrong with the contest since its inception, or something along those lines :kink: I think this is probably one others would be able to define me better on

November 2, 201014 yr I don't know quite how to express what I feel my role is. Along with Tyron and Phil I've probably made the most posts in here over the years, and I'm very pleased to have 4 wins and 3 second places, all with what I consider to be high quality unknown pop songs (Uh Huh Her aside, it's hopefully no coincidence that my other three winners and three runners up are amongst my all time favourite songs), without ever having to resort to cheapness for a good result. But I wouldn't say I have a role, I just aim to keep my quality quota high and hope people like what I send and at least a couple of people discover something that they love per month.
November 2, 201014 yr Kopecka are the closest country to Rontvia in my opinion in terms of type of entries sent, and I'd happily swap my entry history with Tyron's for the most part. Ashton and Numayania send incredible songs almost without fail that whilst I wouldn't send myself mostly, I definitely appreciate the discoveries

November 2, 201014 yr I spoke with DSTP, she's retired from the music industry apparently :snif: I'm currently trying to see if I can sweet-talk an mp3 out of him.

You know where to send it if you ever get hold of it (besides BJSC of course :funky:) Most promising 90 seconds of music I've ever heard without hearing the full song.
November 2, 201014 yr My current role is 'Cheap Skank reformed'. Having previously been public enemy #1 round these parts for sending such glorious masterpieces as The Veronicas (THEY ARE STILL 7 WEEKS UNTIL IT'S RELESEAD - IT ISNT CHEAP AT ALL), Stacie Orrico (OMG ITS A FORGOTTEN GEM LEAVE ME ALONE) and The Saturdays (well even I couldnt defend that one) I should now continue with my role of sending sort of vaguely unknown tracks, even if I did discover New Way through a car advert on the telly but this doesnt matter clearly.... In terms of participation outside of simply sending a song and voting, well I never really took part a great deal but I occasionally joined in I suppose. For me now, I'm simply here to discover a few good songs. Being the over dramatic gay that I am, I have left BJSC twice already due to lack of interest but I thought I might aswell re-start again to see if I'd enjoy if and whilst the contest just been wasnt overly strong (a LOT of bland) I still plan on sticking around...... .......well until I go insane and enter The Saturdays for the 65th time, finish 19th and p*** off again.
November 2, 201014 yr An 'indie' nation evolved from pop. Very enthusiastic about it. I bring variety and an element of riskiness. Level 1 (respectable and almost always doing well nations): Numayania/Kopecka/Rontvia Level 1.5 (most success is now in the past): Ashton/Mdice Level 2 (occasional success, rich past in BJSC): Quotosibb/Torchwood/BaNG/Hendinia Level 3 (finally started to succeed in the recent contests): Tinnmark/Greenfroze/Ojnoj Level 4 (cheapies): USJ/Lorikeet/Xanaga/Liechenstaan Level 5 ('indie'/risky/amazing): Espen/Skall/New Caprica/Eledan :D Level 6 (odd entries): Kylienips/Botanikka/Palmyra Level 7 (confirm and leave for a month): LoJ/Angelicland/Sangria/UnoShake/ Level 8 (newcomers): Bignia/Caerfyrrdia/etc and the rest... Not to offend anybody with it though. That is how i am seeing the state of things in BJSC as of this moment.

Well, I certainly hadn't heard New Way before the contest, so I'd count that as easily one of my favourite entries of yours (up there with, believe it or not, Boys Will Be Boys, despite you robbing me of victory/me robbing myself of victory by giving you six points :drama:). Just don't send Higher and we cool, yeah?

November 2, 201014 yr Author You disappeared from BJSC for like 40 years, not my fault! :( I'd say recent winner Phil will have a word or two to say about his success being all in the past too :P

Ah I see, this is one of many things I didn't know, being away. It was quite weird coming back and not recognising half of the country names!

Bitch please Ashton is quite clearly 1.25 Respectable nation that suffered a mid life crisis and is now finally back on form. In terms of consistent success, it pretty much is  This is the first time Phil's managed back-to-back top tens since...when? BJSC 8 and 9 were my last two back to back top10's :o
November 2, 201014 yr I wouldn't know what my role is. I guess Ashton are the highly passionate part of the moderating team, who spends most time either backing up Tyron or having stringent Anti-Cheap regulation watered down by Tyron for acceptance by the loons. As for contribution, i guess now that Ben's gone you could describe Ashton/Rontvia/Kopecka as the 'Big 3' we've all been here from the start and we are all very vocal nations. We all contribute a lot and while Rich no longer has so much to do with the day to day running, all three of us have had a large part in making the contest what it is. I think you really could describe all three of us together in a way. Rich sends constantly amazing stuff which Ashton always loves, Tyron sends amazing entries for 3months then something utterly dire, and I send something i am completely in love with which only connects with Rich due to him being the only other person who more or less gets my random music taste and turned my back on a good run of hits to send more inspired stuff which ended up producing multiple DNQ's [With very passionate responses] and the occasional hit and mainly suffered from 11th point and other semi syndrome. On a personal level, you can thank me for the AF-rule, the major Anti-Cheap regulations that we got rammed for before the ban list was created. You can thank me in Dec for the changes for TBO too :kink: I've always maintained in the past that i am not a top tier country, but without wanting to sound like a big head, i guess in a way i am an upper tier country. I'm here for the long haul, i'm here to discover new music. I always have been and always will be. Success is wonderful [i am still utterly thrilled at my win] my aim is to introduce people to the Molly Sandén's and the Kristina Brask's rather than aiming for a top10 place. Oh and f*** yes at having the first and currently only foreign language winner :cheer:
November 2, 201014 yr I'm also known for not exactly doing badly when I turn to the US for my entries. 3/29 entries I've used American artists, which resulted in 3/3 wins. The hunt for my next American 'love song' continues... :heehee:
