Oh this will be interesting :cheer:

Where has Jason gone btw?

Robbie took lyrics to The Flood from Star Trek and Star Wars? Figures.

Yep and it appears he got the lyrics for SOS from all sorts of topics - he sounds a bit mad the way he explains them

And The Flood embedded - interesting to hear about the creation of the track. Wonder where Jay is for these vids though? Howard barely speaks either.

watch out "The Circus" Progress is approaching fast!

Progress in my opinion was always gona outsell the circus im just wondering will it manage to outsell beautiful world though.

Progress sles are fantastic though, and i can see it holding number 1 for the 7th week next week aswell and sales i think will be 100,000 or there about which would mean it would be only be 30k away from 2 million. I do think the album will easily sell 2.5 million the question is will it manage 3 million.

With the tour and the Brits coming + another 2 airplay hit singles it definitely will. Looks like it could do it preety fast though. Perhaps by next year this time the album will have sold 3mil! :o

Sales will drop but is there a force that can stop them from being no1? They are really (predictably yet) beyond any competition all these weeks!

What is the longest streak for TT at no1 and what is the record for the most weeks at no1 for any act?

I think BW was number 1 for six weeks on its release before dropping. It did return to number one in the following March I beleive.

I was gobsmacked when I heard it sold 430K this week. 300-350K was predicted based on midweek figs and the fact Sat was closed as it was Xmas - so 430K is beyond any expectations. 1.87M sold with one week to go. I doubt it will happen due to this week sales decreasing hugely overall but considering the huge popularity it's not out of the question that it will pass 2M before the end of the year. I can't remember the last album to sell 2M or even near 2M on the end of year charts. 1.5M is generally the norm - a little under or over. So despite The Circus being quicker to get to 1M - Progress looks set to get to 2M almost a full year quicker - incredible success for the album. Outselling BW is not out of the question at all - considering this has all been achieved on the back of one single so far - if they pick the correct singles and promote them - plus of course the massive tour and possible a deluxe edition next Xmas with a new song - 3M total is no unrealistic at all. :o

I think it WILL reach 2M before 31st December. And ... I'm glad it has done better than The Circus (and not trailed off to a positive dribble after week four as that album did). Progress is significantly better than TC and for me it even edges slightly ahead of BW now, even though BW was leagues better an album than TC.

It does stand a strong chance of reaching 2 million by dec 31st as 130,000 isnt totally out of the question so in that respect it will be exciting to get sales info in the midweeks this week.
I read somewhere that Progress sold more in the UK last week than the best selling album sold in the US last week. Is that correct? Seems amazing given the vast population difference

I ALL album sales in the UK were better than those in the US last week.

There was a bit of a whoopsie made witht he OCC's calculating machine at the weekend and some sales figures were vastly over-stated. 350K is looking more likely for last week rather than the 430K initially quoted. Still impressive though.

Kath

apparantly it had no effect on acts hig in the charts and the no effect on the number 1 single or album ,so the 430k sales for last week seems correct.

No ... 430K was wrong (as well as a lot of other sales figurs in the albums and singles). Its correct sales for last week were 350K ... but it was still enough to keep it at number 1.

I just that the new sales are confirmed now, 350,000 is still great but disapointing in comparison to 430,000+. this means progress is about 180,000 ahead of what the circus was at the same stage.

Here is how US figures look Jups.....units not very big for such a huge country...then again they have so many different music genre in the US that pop does not feature that highly...
