November 7, 201014 yr I've seen this site before, the chart is based purely on sales, and Japan is the biggest market in the world, so this is easily #1, it sold about 650k this week alone, and that's just in Japan... UZGhv9i69Ck I like actually :o
November 7, 201014 yr I thought we had a thread about this chart? http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=109420 Or is it different?
November 7, 201014 yr Author I thought we had a thread about this chart? http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=109420 Or is it different? Have looked at the chart, is very similar but Love The Way You Lie spent 10 weeks at number one there, whereas only 9 weks here. Alejandro spent 2 weeks at number one on the other chart but not a single week here. And Shakira, Yolanda Be Cool aren't in the top ten on this world chart. I'm sure its different.
November 7, 201014 yr You often get random Japanese songs siling to #1 here and then vanishing... it doesn't make it 'not a rightful #1', it sold more than any other song worldwide in the surveying period :P By the way, the chart is initially hosted here AFAIA and then put onto acharts: http://www.mediatraffic.de/ Edited November 7, 201014 yr by Bray
November 7, 201014 yr Woah! Monster by Arashi was the best-selling song in the world one week! :o I've always loved that song, and I knew it got #1 in Japan, but I never knew it was that big! :o Arashi are incredible though. I heard somewhere that they had 20 consecutive #1 singles!
November 7, 201014 yr I still don't understand the point of this thread. a chart. us is not a highly a chart source you can rely on but Akb48 - Beginner :w00t: Edited November 7, 201014 yr by Kieran.
November 8, 201014 yr Author I still don't understand the point of this thread. a chart. us is not a highly a chart source you can rely on but Akb48 - Beginner :w00t: How's it not reliable? It is a chart of the 40 best selling singles in the world.
November 8, 201014 yr achart.us is not that reliable, but the German site Aars linked to surely is. I'm not a big fan of Arashi but :w00t: that Shojo Jidai (SNSD/Girls Generation) charted last week :D

I'm not a big fan of Arashi but :w00t: that Shojo Jidai (SNSD/Girls Generation) charted last week :D Don't you mean the site Bray linked to, Aars linked to moth's chart. The chart on that site is the same except it shows sales! Yeah, that may be useful, will add those sales onto the chart soon. Edit: Sales are up! Edited November 8, 201014 yr by danielG
November 8, 201014 yr I believe that's points rather than sales, if you read their chart report they said AKB48 sold nearly 900k :o
November 8, 201014 yr Author I believe that's points rather than sales, if you read their chart report they said AKB48 sold nearly 900k :o But Cheryl Cole sold 157,000 and that's how many points she got. edit: Yes it is points, not sales. But still it's accurate Edited November 8, 201014 yr by danielG
November 8, 201014 yr Maybe they halve Japanese sales to make it equal as it's such a big market. Anyway, Ireland doesn't seem to be counted in that, but I guess they don't have Irish sales data (no-one does). Anyway thanks for posting :cheer:

Anyway, Ireland doesn't seem to be counted in that, but I guess they don't have Irish sales data (no-one does). Anyway thanks for posting :cheer: It would be unfair to diminish Japan's sales though, imo. Like a sale in Japan is equal to a sale anywhere else in the rest of the world, even though Japan's music scene is horrifically seperate from those everywhere else in the world. Likewize, I wouldn't think it's fair to quintuple, say, France's sales, so that it's more comparable to the UK's.
November 10, 201014 yr I presume they haven't hence the lack of Rene La Taupe  But I think it's fair if you create a balanced overview. By the way the Japanese music market is moving closer and closer to the rest of Asia, Korean acts are very successful there at the moment, and I think it will move closer to the rest of the world in the next few years.

By the way the Japanese music market is moving closer and closer to the rest of Asia, Korean acts are very successful there at the moment, and I think it will move closer to the rest of the world in the next few years. Yeah, hopefully. It always annoys me when you look at the chart peaks of awesome songs world-wide, and they get like #1 in 20 countries, then you see "Japan - #72". I remember a few months back, and I was really bored, so I decided I'd listen to all the Japan Billboard #1s, out of curiosity, and some of them were really good, in my opinion (that's how I discovered Arashi), and could do well in other countries. Some of them were already half in English.
November 10, 201014 yr But Cheryl Cole sold 157,000 and that's how many points she got. edit: Yes it is points, not sales. But still it's accurate 157k in the UK, yes. What about Ireland's sales? Surely it must've sold 2/3k there (I'm aware Irish singles sales are much lower because of their population).
