It's a bit rich to complain about Rob 'hogging the limelight' on this performance though. He does have lead vocals on The Flood. How exactly is he supposed to blend into the background when singing lead?

I do kind of know what you mean though. I too think he's far too big a solo star (and far too much a showman) to be back in a group. Successful solo stars need big personalities (unless you're Leona of course -_- ). Big personalities don't disappear.

But time will tell. They all look happy enough and if nothing else they've produced a cracking album. :w00t:

Before I started listening to Robbie I had no idea who TT were.. I wasn't a fan of pop really  but I definitely hated how Gary had all the lead vocals back then... That kind of changed on Beautiful World and The Circus but still, it was always all about Gary. "Gary and Take That". He was the main reason I didn't like TT all that much.

Now that Robbie's back (and has every right to be because he's the original member; TT are not Sugababes  ) it's normal that fans are divided. Some remember their teen years and are happy they can enjoy an older form of TT with all original members and others probably hated Robbie and his addictions in the 90s, can't stand his sense of humor or music. Each to his own -_-

I love watching them perform together though as a Robbie fan, watching the xfactor performance I had my eyes on him the whole time  Later when I watched the performance again I noticed how the others behaved on stage.

And I agree with Jups. He's a superstar with a great personality that cannot be hidden AND he's the lead vocal on The Flood. How the hell could you put him in the background? He IS the news at the moment. When people mention TT, they mention Robbie's name and with his fame, when you put him on stage with the other 4 (tall as he is and such a presence on stage  ) I can't help but agree with some of those TT fans and think this is "Robbie and Take That" not only "Take That" (but of course a Robbie fan doesn't mind  )

(The travel agency that my sister and I will probably go with to Munich also has "Robbie Williams and Take That concert in Munich 2011" as the title of their offer  )

Btw, is Robbie on every Progress song? Because it seems to me like he's only on a couple of songs. The others are either Gary solo, Jason solo, Mark solo or Howard solo (with at least one other member but not Robbie)

Back to Xfactor. I didn't think he was all that nervous though it's pretty obvious that he was  I just thought that at the beginning when his eyes were flying all across the room, he was trying to soak it all in, enjoy the moment because it's such an important moment in his life :D

And I love his throat those couple of times  He gave his all

He's on 7 of the 11 tracks I think

Robbieca ... you contradict yourself! How can you say you had no idea who TT were ... and yet say you hated the way Gary had lead vocals all the time?

Again (and I really don't want to cause trouble) how can you say he has every right ... when you admitted you had no idea who TT were before?

The 'Robbie and Take That' thing ... is purely a European thing. It wasn't Rob's last album that made a million in 18 days ... Take That did it themselves. Sure ... he's King Bling in Europe ... but in the UK ... he DEFINITELY needed Take That to boost his popularity.

This I can answer. Whenever Gary isn't rehearsing to be the next Ringo Starr and try to get the next narration job for Thomas The Tank ... he and Rob's voices DO meld into one these days. At times I can't tell them apart.

At the end of the day ... contrary to what Rob fans think ... it is YOU Rob fans who are less accommodating of Take That than Take That fans are less accommodating of Rob. You all imply that Rob is the main person in this new album (I haven't even heard the whole thing through yet ... so I've no idea. I may think the album is sh/te when I listen to the whole thing.)

I truly, hand on heart, NOW hope the whole thing goes tits up before the concerts even begin. Only then ... will the Rob fans be satisfied. I'm quite sure, being the savvy chap Barlow is, he's taken a hefty insurance policy out just in case.

Believe me ... there will be no problem shifting your tickets ... there are loads of people out there who want to see Take That whether they are four or five.

I'm simply fighting Take That's corner. Do you honestly think Progress, if released by Rob on his own, would be making the headlines as much as it is? The whole thing is hype anyway. Three of the songs I've heard so far sound like they've been ripped off from other songs (I like them nevertheless) but they really owe huge amounts to other artists.

And before anyone says anything ... NO ... it wouldn't be making the same headlines if Take That alone were making it. But I bet it would still sell a million before Christmas ... which is something Rob couldn't do with RKTVS. That isn't gloating ... its fact.

Seriously though. When Rob does walk ... I'll buy any tickets going (I can buy up to about 20 tickets ... but they must be AFTER 3 June)

What I heard was Robbies screaming hoarse voice which made my ears hurt. Only when the others, especially Gary, sang I could enjoy it. There is no doubt that Robbie has a terrible voice. He has no range at all and therefore he has to scream. Gary can hit any note he wants to and it is a real pleasure to hear him sing. To help with delutions that Robbie Williams is a superstar dont forget that a lot of people cant stand the man. He is an egomaniac and totally unable of caring about other peoples feelings. Elvis Presley was an icon selling over one billion records, Queen was an icon selling 300 million albums, The Beatles was an icon selling 500 million albums. Robbies 57 million aint much in comparison, is it? He is a wannabe not able to be on a stage unless he is heavily loaded with drugs and alcohol. I actually feel sorry for the man but more sorry for Take That(Gary, Howard, Mark and Jason) for having to put up with this loser. Remember to thank Guy Chambers for writing the songs that made Robbie rich "beyond his wildest dreams"! So he wrote the lyrics, that aint the hard part! Without Gary Barlow Robbie would still be in Stoke on some streetcorner screaming out some boring song while people are telling him to BE QUIET!

HOW come you never listened to Progress yet?

It has Robbie's marks all over it (I would say it is 60% Robbie, 30%Mark, 10%Gary) but it is still an outcome of all 5 (or 3) no matter who has the lead. You will easily understand that after listening to the whole thing.

If Robbie released this album I doubt it would sell more than 1/2 it does indeed. Still TT were suffering a decrease in sales BW->Circus which dropped out quite faster. It is not only Robbie's popularity which was not 100% anymore but also TT's. I don't honestly know what makes you sure TT's next album wouldn't sell 1.5- million (following the decrease BW-->Circus) Robbies album sold a million after all so it is not that far below this figure. Both acts needed the reunion to refresh themselves in the UK, still Europe is a different thing. I do not believe could be any comparison of TT vs Robbie in Europe. That said I am almost sure it was Robbie (and management) who insisted releasing worldwide (and promoting) rather that TT wanting to steal Robbie's fanbase. This sound delusional

Also, I think Robbieca meant she liked Robbie (solo) so when she got into things she found out the whole TT story and she didn't like what she saw. (Gary, the songs or whatever) She knows the story now (it is all over the place anyway) but she had no idea back then.

I'm sorry if I didn't make myself clear. I live in a small European country, English is not my mother tongue and when I was little, I listened to Croatian singers as I didn't know a word of English and had no clue about good music. When I fell in love with Robbie's music and started reading every single word I could find about him, I learned he used to be in TT. That's when I heard all their greatest hits which I liked as music pieces but I hated how Gary was always the center of attention. I like teams which stay exactly that, with no one stealing the limelight. I must admit I actually like Gary's voice (no one can say he has a bad voice) but it's his personality or the way he was always presented that I hated (I've seen quite a few interviews with them from the 90s and those after the first reunion because although I wasn't a huge TT fan when Beautiful World or Circus came out I was still interested in how they were doing and what they sound like after so many years).

I do not want to speak for all the Robbie fans as I can only tell you my personal opinion when it comes to this reunion. At first I was indifferent because I wasn't even sure that the reunion would actually happen. Then I went through some love and hate phases as I was afraid of what the album would sound like and how the boys would treat Robbie after such a bad "break-up". Now, however, I'm quite pleased with the reunion. I love Progress and I love seeing Robbie with such a huge smile on his face. Everything in his life has finally come into place. From what I've seen in the interviews and the documentary, all five have the same rights. Each member of TT now has the same amount of power in his hands. The only thing I don't like is the possibility that he might not do any solo work in near future. I'm a RW fan, first and foremost.

I do believe Robbie is the main person in this album because after he left the band everything changed and the whole world has been speculating if he'd ever come back for the last 15 years. Now he's back and you can hear his influence in certain songs that sound very Rudebox. Everywhere they go and whoever they talk to, the main question is the final reunion with Robbie. Also, their friendship and history between them is the main theme of the album.

I have my ticket to see them next year and I'm not planning to throw it away or anything. I will go even if I'm dead sick :P No one can use it but me because it has my name written on it. It will be a few days after my birthday and I will have a blast! I know all their songs and of course, all of Robbie's. I will enjoy Rule the world as it's one of my all-time fav songs in general and I can't wait to see them in front of me! :D

Oh and- Robbie DOES NOT need Take That. He was doing perfectly fine before and after the 4 reunited. I'm sure he doesn't need the money but even if he did, he could easily earn it on his own with a couple of concerts  and I'm 100% sure HE doesn't need THEM to boost HIS popularity. He's much more popular than TT, at least I believe that is the case in Europe because I'm sure if you asked people here if they've heard of Robbie or TT, the first name will definitely ring a bell.

I know in England TT are the second coming of Beatles. It's their homeland, as well as Robbie's and it's normal that everyone knows who they are.

I wanted to reply to your post before I see the others that followed it.

X Factor: Robbie Williams ‘gets’ Mary Byrne’s loneliness

November 19th, 2010 by Lisa McGarry.

Mary Byrne has admitted that her favourite X factor guest so far has been Take That singer Robbie Williams.

In a chat with Ireland’s 98FM the Dublin singer admitted that they don’t get to meet many of the celebrities as they are so closely guarded by security staff, but she revealed that she loved meeting ‘beautiful’ Robbie after his performance on last Sunday’s show.

Mary said:

Robbie Williams last week….oh my God what a beautiful man!

He’s six foot one, he’s built like a house and the most beautiful young man I have ever seen in my life! ( <_< Hussy)

Mary also admitted that the troubled star told her that he understands why she gets so low at times. She continued:

I met his wife, who is absolutely adorable and afterwards he said to me “I feel that every time you’re on that stage you still feel lonely, like I do.” I said yeah and he said “That’s why I get you!”

HOW come you never listened to Progress yet?

I've heard a few more songs now but I won't post my review until I've heard the whole album (I MAY get it this weekend). I have heard a few more fully though ... so far I don't like Eight Letters or The Flood (but you all knew that) ... but I'm liking (very much) Wait and SOS.

I know you're all DYING to read my review so I'll try not to keep you waiting too long!

WTF are these rumors about Robbie performing as one of the duets on the final? Louis Walsh has just said he had heard this too. How bizzaire. For starters he will be on SCD on Sat with Take That performign two tracks so how will he be able to do this? Secondly to pair him with Rebecca would be insane. She doesn't 'move' - so it would make no sense - him and Matt obviously but that would be a repeat of the Olly duet last year which wasn't great. I find it very hard to believe he will be one of the stars now he is back with TT. Speaking of TT, why are they not part of the duet with One Direction?

Louis said it will be official tomorrow. These rumors turned out to be true last year but I will be shocked if Robbie will be there.

I agree ... she'd totally outclass him vocally (mind you ... she'd outclass most anybody). I think Rob should be paired with One Direction ... his voice would sound quite good then.

Kath

Edit!!!! In case anyone was thinking I was having a go at Rob ... I mean Rebecca would show up ANYONE! She's my favourite X-F performer ever ... who cares if she doesn't move around the stage? I play a CD to listen to it ... not watch it! Only prob for me is ... although I'd like her to win (although she's going to be mega even if she doesn't win) I can't bear the thought of Biffa Cole being the winning 'mentor' (and I use that term very loosely) for a third year on the trot!

Rebecca bores me to tears ...dull, dull, dull !!! who on earth would go see her in concert

overall the talent on the XF this year is nothing to rave about

If it's true he's appearing (again, the whore  ) I hope Robbie does sing with Rebecca. It might liven her up a bit. Then again, he'd need to shimmy about the stage alone while she's doing her best lamp-post impression. Seems like a nice girl but she's dreariness personified. I actually prefer Cher. No, honestly, I do.

I think it's more likely Robbie will be duetting with Wrong Direction (if anyone). Or should I say, duetting with their backing track. :teresa: :D
