Im glad your judging it on the music aswell Cleo as thats the important thing. I too understand its weird for the robbie fans seeing him part of a grroup again which is probably a bigger change than seeing take that turn into 5!!

It is beyond weird, I watched him tonight on stage with the other lads & he was kinda hanging on at the end...I was waiting for him to go walkabout which of course he can longer do ( well not yet anyway  ) ...it's the music which is the big enticement & it's good.... I was never a Take That fan but I have to give them credit for this very creative album ;)

Me too

I kept expecting a twirl of the mike and then a daft dance across the stage

I must say watching tonight i find it weird seeing them as a 5 piece again after getting so used to being a 4 piece. I also must admit i had a few years where i detested robbie williams but warmed to him slightly in the later years. When i first heard robbie was re joining i always said i would put my opinions of robbie to one side and base his return on the music and the music has lived up to expectation. I think the re union will ultimatly benefit all of them as in people as im sure this re union is a huge learening curve for them and introduces alot of change for them.

I agree with what you are saying overall but I am surprised you detested Robbie a few years ago as I remember you used to say you were a big fan of him, especially prior to TT becoming huge again?

I didn't notice anyone who looked like Neil - must watch it again. I hope Neil and Gary Nuttell appear on the TT tour during Rob's solo section - Hearing either Angels without Gary doing the solo or Come Undone without Neil on guitar would be very wrong imo. -_-

Me too

Do you think SC puts carboard in the seat of his pants, he has a real peculiar stiff walk...

Why were no TT stats put up on their VT? I know it was by far the longest of the three bands but and putting all the facts up as well would have taken forever - but really when nonsense such as Westlife selling 45M albums is claimed - when that figure is only for singles included - then I feel it should have been said that between them Robbie and TT have sold in excess of 100M albums and singles between them. It should have said that, plus the 18 #1's - 14M tickets, 9000 BRITS etc etc. :smoke:
I kinda wondered where they got those figures, then again the show is owned by SC so not surprising that what he says goes <_<

Westlife haven't sold 45 million albums surely?

And I'd have thought it was excessive even with singles included

I'd estimate Blandlife's album sales to be between 27-28M albums worldwide. Their last album did not even shift 1M globally.

They have sold well with singles - mainly in the UK with around 6.3M sold as of March of this year. So globa album sales + UK Single sales at the most around 34-35M? So I suppose an extra 5M singles sales internaitonally is likely but 10-11M? No chance. They were on 40M album sales last year on the XF - It went up by a little over a million with the album + single from last year - plus back catalog sale s- 1.5M is fair - but no way has they jumped to 45M records sold. Only the other day 43M was claimed - so rounding it off to the nearest 5 I see.

The 40-45M figure is often claimed for be albums alone but it is actually albums+ singles.

I have just seen claims that Robbie MIMED on the XF last night

How thick are some people? Robbie has not mimed to a song since TOTP back in the 90's when they made people mime. He is the last artist who whould mime - it would make no sense considering his style. He ad libs so much and is far too spontaneous for miming to work.

And I see on another forum some people were wondering if Westlife had sold more than TT - well yes they actually have. Well albums anyway - TT have sold more singles.

When TT split up in 96 - prior to the release of their 96 Greatest Hits album - they had sold 10M singles and 9M albums worldwide - then in 2005 with the release of their second Hits collection it was claimed they had sold 25M records (singles + albums) - considering the GH (96) sold between 3-3.5m worldwide and How Deep Is Your Love was a huge seller - with nearly 1M globally - so when you add both of those plus all the back catalog sales for the other albums and singles from 96-2005 - then the 25M records makes sense. Since then TT have sold roughly 8.5M albums worldwide with the 4 releases since 05 - bringing their total album sales to near 22M - singles wise they have sold around 14M worldwide - so altogether in total TT have roughly 36M records worldwide.

It's interesting that both bands have been active for the same amount of time - 10-11 years. Westlife have released more albums though - their sales are based on 10 compared to TT's 7 (8 now with Progress) Considering Westlife's sales are decreasing with each album - TT could overtake them in terms of 'records sold' with another couple of albums. Progress and it's singles could possible clear 4M in total - plus then of course they will likely release a third Greatest Hits album for next Xmas - or possibly another studio album - either way it won't take many more albums before they overtake Westlife - even if their 45M figure is correct which it isn't!

Which means people think he sang very well! To be fair he was really shaky and emotional at the beginning until Mark started playing with him but he improved later on. What are they talking about? Robbie forgets the lyrics, may sing out of tune at times but has never mimed

But if you added in Robbie's, Gary's and Mark's solo sales and Brian McFadden's solo sales would that make a difference to the total in any way?

Well Rob sold in the region of between 75-80M albums + singles - so that brings the total to over 110M records sold. Gary's debut album sold 2M worldwide - the second flopped and I am not sure the sales. If you include both album and the singles I suppose he has sold over 3M records as a solo artist. Mark Owen I am unsure about - couldn't be arsed searcing for his sales - he was never that big though - 1M for all his albums and singles is probably fair. If you include all the solo and together as a group - then they have sold over 115M and will pass 120M with Progress and it's singles.

Brian McFadden did okay with his Guy Chambers penned debut album - 'Real To Me' was a decent tune but a forgotton #1. He is big in Australia though so he has probably shifted a couple of million as a solo artist. Possibly enough to bring Westlife to that 45M being claimed. :smoke:

A bit off topic, but are Westlife that popular in UK? I don't know that much about them, I think nobody does in here... I had to watch their performance from X factor, as I read on YT that Simon said they were better than TT last night. Is that true? That's a pure boyband in their 40's thing. I'm glad TT doesn't look like that anymore, and not just from now, with Progress, even earlier they started to change. And I didn't sleep during five minutes of Westlife performance, but I was really close to it, as it is late, and the truth is they're incredibly boring.
