i am supporting westlife as singers. . . they have written many songs though that weren't released. they are hard working theres no doubt, also safe is the only song i skip on the new album gravity. its really interesting and its a shame its not getting to number one. . .

 

 

That says it all then doesnt it, if they were any good then they would have been released. Dont kid yourself it would never have got to number 1, even if it was released with no competition for the top spot. :P

1) Do you believe all 5 are good singers then? I love one voice only in the band... and there is probably another one that is good, the remaining two are just 'the beautiful ones'.

2) Why did they choose to release covers instead of their own songs then? It means that even the 4 of them and their company-management do not believe they are good enough at writing, why should we...(everyone nowadays pretends he is a real artist by co-writing his songs or saying he writes songs. This is pathetic! A great voice is one thing. Being able to write good songs and lyrics is another.)

3) If they wanted no1 they shouldn't have released at this time of the year with TT on the way + Jls (I do not like them but they are really popular) on the same week.

Their single wouldn't stand a chance for no1 on any week... it's sales are way lower than any recent no1.

4) Westlife are not a bad boyband imo, still don't put them into the same ring with TT, I doubt you can find anything (considering talent, popularity, sales or creativity) to win this battle...

lol we have more number ones in UK & ireland than take that. weve sold more than them, we are the best selling band of the century (decade).

 

Ok, Wl do have more number one singles, bu who cares? Its not an absolute record in the Uk and they're hardly better than Abba or Madonna or Rolling Stones, you know. Their number ones were nothing more than Simon Cowell's wit and their manipulations with release dates. Sadly, Westlife have always been about strategy.And people feel something FAKE about them. Im not really a big fan of any boy band.

 

But i will say that Take that p*** all over westlife.

They have sold around 40M records - TT have sold around 36M - it is only a matter of time before TT overtake them. The last time a Westlife album sold over 3M worldwide was their Greatest Hits back in 2002 - since then they have had several albums sell under 2M WW and a couple of others that barely passed that figure.

 

De Niro, you contradict yourself then. How could they sell 40 mil if since 2003 its about 2 million worldwide average per album? 2x7=14 million. Does it mean WL have sold the rest 25 million in 3 years?(2000-2003) :rofl: Oh, God.. Their management as pathetic as they're. Why would inflate their sales so much?Does Simon have an inferiority complex or something?

They have not sold 40M albums. 40M records (singles+albums). They have sold around 27-28M albums and the rest singles sales. TT have sold more albums and singles in the UK though - and more singles globally than Westlife. Westlife are mainly ahead on albums for two reasons - 1) they have released more and 2) they enjoyed big success in Asia earlier on in their career for the first two or three albums. Some people still insist on believing Simon and Louis's waffle about Coast To Coast selling over 12M WW and World Of Our Own selling 10M WW - the facts are both albums combined have not even sold 10M. Westlife's sales are rapidly slowing down with each release whereas TT are now bigger than ever, so it's only a matter of time before they overtake the overall records sold. And Charis if adding Robbie's sales annoys you then why don't you just add Brian McFaddens solo sales to Westlife's tally? I am sure that will even things up. :smoke:

Still i find it hard to believe they did 24 million of records outside the UK. They've sold around 16 million in the UK along(10 million albums and around 6 million singles), i highly doubt Philippines, Malaysia,Korea and the rest asian countries where Westlife were big all consider Third World countries with an underdeveloped music market, so its unlikely they've sold there that much.Where they popular anywhere else? Europe,Us, Canada? No,no and No.Australia? Only one album "Face To Face".So this 40 million figure is bull$h!t.

 

So,16 million of records in the UK.And around 15 million outside the UK. Total sales-+30 million.

It won't last! But after some promo the album could become a hit! It has quality songs in it, it is just that people in EU don't know much of TT (it only sells on the back of Robbie's name now) they need to be (re)introduced to the European public.

 

Also TT are slowly gaining on JLS and Ellie...
