I still regularly listen to, and regard as some of my favourite songs, these;

Natalie Imbruglia - Big Mistake

Spice Girls - Stop

Madonna - Ray Of Light

Brandy And Monica - The Boy Is Mine

Pras Michel Featuring ODB And Mya - Ghetto Supastar (That Is What You Are)

Sash! Featuring Tina Cousins - Mysterious Times

Steps - One For Sorrow

The Beautiful South - Perfect 10

911 - More Than A Woman

East 17 - Each Time

Five - Until The Time Is Through

Boyzone - I Love The Way You Love Me

Some good boyband #2's in 98! :lol: Mysterious Times is probably my absolute favourite of the lot though...

No, I didn't listen to the radio either.

Re-checking the list, I do know the Stardust one too, but IIRC it has a repulsive video.

In what way? :o Wasn't the video the one with the boy and the model plane who was watching a chart countdown on TV or something?

Maybe you're thinking of 1998's most infamous 'non #1', Gym & Tonic by Spacedust;

THE ESSENTIALS (well sort of...)

I remember crying when Mark Goodier(?) said it was #2 on the top 40

Nice to see some more love for Each Time :wub: It's a guilty pleasure of course seeing as they'd become a bit of a joke band by this point but this song was top quality! The production at the time to me seemed incredibly fresh and modern :lol:

'Gym And Tonic' :puke: That's worse than 'MSBWY' which I don't particularly rate anyways.

I've never really liked either of them anyway. It was the horriffic vocal in MSBWY that put me right off it. Gym & Tonic is just utter throwaway tat and defined non #1 until Ja Rule's Wonderful came along in 2004...

The vocal on Music Sounds Better With You is grating, but the instrumental is incredibly infectious. I think that's why I love the mash-up with Lovestation's "Teardrops" so much, because it remedied the vocal issue.

Gym & Tonic was a f***ing DREADFUL excuse for a song full-stop.

How actually DID Gym and Tonic reach #1? I remember it happening but I really don't know how the hell it did. Totally baffling.

Was it National Aerobics Week or something?

1998 was a great year, was only 9/10 years old, but so into music and the charts by this point :D

Must admit I like pretty much all of the songs listed, though I can't remember "Puff Daddy Featuring Jimmy Page - Come With Me" at all, and I wasn't particularly fond of the Busta Rhymes one, or Vindaloo.

3. Natalie Imbruglia - Big Mistake

4. Mousse T Vs Hot 'N' Juicy - Horny
